Found the location through Yelp and saw that it is basically an old train car. You walk in and there is counter which probably was a bar when it was a functioning train car. After the counter there are a few booths on both sides of an aisle. I sat at the counter and checked out the menu. I saw items that I never had so I went with the boar bacon, eggs, potatoes (with gravy and grilled onions), and biscuit. The bacon was very similar to what we typically eat but with less fat. The potatoes were really good though it was a lot. What I liked about the biscuit was that they cut it in half and grilled it. Yummy. I also purchased a bag of their pancake batter that is a recipe from 1886. read more

What a fun experience! A must in Spokane. This restaurant is inside of an old dining car and has been in business since 1931! The inside as shown in my picture is very charming and old timey. Allow time to wait for a table unless you are just one or two like I was and able to grab a seat at the bar. I was able to sit immediately. The staff is very amiable and the hostess made the recommendation that I try the Caprese Benedict, which had fried tomatoes in place of bread, fresh basil and blood orange balsamic drizzle. They offer the option of one or two Benedict, which is nice if you aren't super hungry. They also give the option to smother the hashbrowns and cheese, which I obviously opted into. The menu is absolutely massive though, so if Benedict's or even breakfast aren't your jam, you should be able to find something that suits your fancy. Also worth noting that they offer a very wide variety of gourmet flavors of house-made juices (7 or 8) for mimosas, like honeydew melon mint which I tried as a soda with soda water since I was driving. read more

Wait to get in is long but the line moves quickly and there is free coffee while you wait. Food is big and delicious and served hot and ready to eat, just as a good diner does. Ambience is rail car style. This one is in an old diner car and we sat at the counter, the only way to go. You can watch the food being prepared. Pancakes are fluffy. Omelets (salmon & cream cheese), Hash browns are generous in quantity and soft inside and crispy on the outside. Biscuits are big and fluffy and slightly grilled on the flat top. Excellent. Get huckleberries with you breakfast for the pancakes or biscuits. Service is very good. This place is busy so one has to be patient. Food is worth the wait. Our bill for big breakfasts for two was $40 bucks before a generous tip. We'll come back next time in Spokane, they've been around (2 locations) for 30 years! It was delicious and fun! read more

What a classic diner experience, it is super cool that it is located inside an old train car. It was pretty busy and we had to wait around 50 minutes on a Saturday morning around 9am, but it was well worth the wait. We had a truly incredible experience at Frank's diner. We cannot thank our server, Melissa, more for the exemplary service that she provided. She truly may have been one of the best servers I've ever had at any establishment. Melissa was kind to us, and very throughful. She recommended some delightful strawberry jam and we never went without anything we needed. She even brought out some local hot sauce for us if we wanted to try in addition to our requested chalula and it was great! The food was amazing, I love when establishments don't nickel and dime their guests, and so seeing that you could add grilled onions on the hash browns without an additional charge made me feel cared for and I'm appreciative that the staff and management seems to really appeal to their customer base. Everything was absolutely delicious. Janelle also checked on us and was kind enough to ask about the details of the bacon when we were curious about what kind it was because it was great! I overheard that it was only her third day and am amazed at how much she cared for the guests while being so new. Loved loved loved the establishment; it was just so cute! I sort of have a thing for converted train cars, so when I spotted this place on Yelp I really wanted to go. The inside is so ornate and beautiful. Even the added bathrooms they put a lot of thoughtful care into ensuring it was thematically matching the rest, like the wallpaper and wainscoting and antique fixtures. This place also has a really amazing menu with so many options to choose from. I was especially happy cuz I find eggs Benedict tasty and they have several varieties. I will say that the pricing though feels pretty steep for the fare that you receive. One egg for $15 or two for $20? Oof. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious. I'm just sadly in a position where I'm needing to be more frugal. So tonight was a treat. Service was okay. We weren't immediately noticed on entry and there was some pushiness about trying to get us to order something to drink other than water. It was also a bit of a wait for the food to be ready, but I think they maybe had a big group in the back they were focused on rather than the two of us. Loved the neon on the outside and the music on the inside. There's a nice deck outside to wait to be seated at times where the little train car might be full, and also a couple outdoor seats. My wife (Jennifer) and I were returning to California after visiting her FA and decided to stop and eat at Franks Diner, in Spokane. The restaurant is inside a rail car, and as we entered we were greeted kindly and with a smile by Greeter & waiter, Hunter. Hunter was genial, professional, engaging, and very helpful (Educated us to their menu) as this was our 1st time at their restaurant. Hunter recommended the 1/2 pound Boar Bacon Club Sandwich on sour dough that did not disappoint, was the best "Club" I'd ever eaten, hands down. It consisted of Pecan smoked boar shoulder bacon, house roasted turkey, fresh greens & tomato. Hunter also recommended the New Zealand Caesar House-made salad with fresh romaine, chopped bacon, croutons and parmesan topped with a soft basted egg, my mouths watering just thinking about it. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the 1/2 Fish & Chips with the Hand-cut and breaded arctic cod and fries. Served with house-made coleslaw, & homemade tartar sauce. Striking a delicate balance between delicious and satisfying food with an unassuming, no-frills dining room. The staff here is wonderful. Everyone--the host, the servers, and even the cooks--were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They made me feel very comfortable eating alone at the bar. I liked that very much. Special shout out to my server, Samoana, whose efficiency is only matched by their warmth. A+ to them for customer service! As for the food, I indulged. Gravy and onions on the hashbrowns was real nice. I ordered the hashbrowns extra crispy and they came out perfectly, not burned, just beautifully crisp, almost toothsome, with a fluffy interior. As for the star of the show: two of Frank's Classic Eggs Benedict. I am blessed to have had many Eggs Benedict in my lifetime, across the U.S. and the globe. Frank's are special. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 930am and it was packed with a 15 minute wait. Inside is so cute at this cable car restaurant. I love the vast menu options but what was more appealing to me was the fact that you can order either a smaller portion or larger for the dish. Prices are reasonable and a lot of the breakfast joints to me have too much of a large portion. I don't end up finishing my meal but not here! I had the creole eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce with creole seasoning was delicious. Ordered the hash browns extra crispy and it came out perfectly. I ate all my food. Another plus?
