Rubbed Chicken and Ribs plate with rice and Mac salad
    David S.

The best plate you're gonna find, look no further. I have been searching for BBQ like this since I left Oahu! Anyone who likes Polynesian cuisine this is where you need to be! I got the rubbed chicken and the ribs it was 12/10. I heard they do laulau on Saturdays so I WILL be back.

I think I found heaven! Savory is the word I'll use. This gem is amazing.. I had the chicken, pork with macaroni.. let me say.. the taste brought joy to my heart. When we walked in. I felt like I was immediately family. They treated us very nice.. Please give this place a try.. you will not be disappointed

It's not often that a restaurant's menu gets me super excited and I knew I was in the right place and in the right culinary hands as soon as I walked in to smell the welcoming wafts of smoked food and stewed deliciousness. I also knew I was in the right place when I heard a warm "Aloha!" accompanied by a genuine smile. The shop is tiny but packs in a lot of goods from the islands. One side of the store has the restaurant orders, clothing, accessories and jewelry while the other side has frozen food, packaged foods and a roped off vintage item section. This is a family run operation and you really get the sense of Ohana as there are many regulars that stop by to chat and see how things are going. Everyone here was so pleasant, relaxed and passionate about the food they sell. I love a place that takes pride in their heritage and offers unique goods you can't find anywhere else. It really made me feel like I was back in Hawaii shopping and ordering food here. Being my first time here, I got a three item plate so I could try a few things. I also got a pineapple half moon pie, palusami, and guava cake. When they said they offered a fresh mango drink, mango otai, I knew I had to try it out! Everything was nicely packaged and co-owner JP explained very thoroughly what each item was. You can taste the love in each comforting bite! For my plate I had the turkey tail, sapasui, and char siu pork. I also had my choice of two sides so I chose taro and sweet potato. The sapasui reminded me a bit of mei fun or pancit and I loved the peppery mix of clear noodles, meat and vegetables. The char siu was boldly seasoned and straddled the line between being chewy and tender. You will shake those tail feathers at the turkey tail because it was the most ono out of the bunch for me! I took one bite and said mmmmmmm. It was the perfect combo of tenderness, crispy outer portions, and sweet and salty seasoning. The mango otai was so good! I enjoyed the refreshing taste of mango with shaved coconut and the toddler drank 2/3 of the large cup I had! The desserts were the perfect way to end the meal with. As for the gifts and groceries side of the shop, they offer items you won't find at other international markets since it's specifically catered to common Polynesian/island brand goods. I was so excited to see a well stocked selection of my favorite cookies! I've been searching all over for these! The selfish part of me isn't going to tell you what type they are because they are all miiiiine muhahaha. They also had some of my favorite teas which I've been trying to find forever. Other items I remember seeing were lilikoi jam, ogo, kulolo mix, and Kauai Kookies. When I left I received warm mahalos for coming. You will feel like part of the family here when you dine or shop at Aloha Island!

Swung by to help support the small local business especially the pacific islanders in the mainland! Good small local shop have something for everyone. From clothes to clothing materials to snacks jewelry and hot food. You know me I gotta eat good. They really take care and feel like home here! Let me tell you I couldn't make it home after eating all that. Menu changes and I seen what today had I had to go Garlic chicken Meatloaf The serving enough for feed 2 easy can feed 4 light eaters! Meatloaf was super ono. So soft and tender with my favorite tomato sauce top. Garlic chicken was nice and crunchy I swear had like 3 scoops rice and 2 scoop mac salad along with the entree. Could've swore the plate weighed like 5lbs no joke. Love these kind of places where you feel at home. Face it: Getting a Hawaiian combo plate is probably the closest you'll get to a Hawaiian vacation this year. For $10.50, you can get a one-meat Hawaiian combo plate. I got two of these combo plates. I got the huli huli chicken, the kalua pork, and two Spam musubis on the side. I'll be honest and say it's not the most flavorful Hawaiian plate I've had. The chicken and kalua pork were on the drier side and the mac salad was bland (my waifu in Honolulu says if the mac salad tastes off, it's because they didn't use Best Foods mayo --- she's a snob and I love her). As for the Spam musubis, they were rice packed with the tiniest sliver of Spam. Being inside there is like being in a can of sardines. It is cozy AF! I had to stand around outside the shop to wait for my food as there were too many people inside to safely distance. As far as groceries go, I wouldn't make this a destination. They didn't have much in stock the day I visited. I saw rice, a few bags of MSG, and some jam on the shelves. They also sell knick knacks, leis, and other miscellaneous items in the shop. I wish this place much success but they will not be seeing me again.

Flipping thru reviews I noticed an "elite" status review from Joyce. Ignore and scroll on...food is amazing and she couldn't be more wrong. Anyway after a little shade let me begin with it was my first time visiting the market. I've noticed the store driving by and while at the water store. It was lunchtime and I was hungry so went into check it out. Met the owners who are incredibly friendly and excited for me to try some traditional island food. I'll admit my experience in island cuisine is spam and eggs. Time to broaden my horizons and tried the teriyaki pineapple chicken. Wow!!!! It was amazing Food is packed with flavor and loved the macaroni salad. $10.50 for an entree and two sides so can't beat the price for this amazing food. Highly recommended the spam musubi my daughter loved it. Saturday the market hosts a special lunch which I am excited to try. I will certainly be back to this establishment to support their commitment and love of their culture.

Hulo! Hulo! Hulo! Always excited when a new Polynesian/Pacific Islander pops up in Arizona. Our very first (or at least the only one that I am aware of) Aloha Island Market. Gosh, where do I start...We all know things get pricey when we have to pay for shipping of missing food, candies, floral, clothing, jewelry, and etc or we are waiting for our Ohana/Aiga from back home to ship us care packages. Yes, we do have asian stores here that carry some of our needed products but, none that has our specialty foods or anywhere for that matter... What I am most excited and appreciative of the owners, Laukau Ioelu and husband, JP is bringing a STORE of what we miss the most from our Islands - which includes: Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti, New Zealand, Hawaii, Marquesas, and so many more gathered into one because "WE ARE ALL ONE" no division... The prices are reasonably priced in our AZ local market They have so much Polynesian varieties of different things from handmade blankets, apparel, hats, caps, fabric, jewelry, food, plants, and daily specials of plate lunch - so be sure to follow them on Facebook to see what they are offering. Saturday's are special as their BRUNCH menu is enormous and it's too much to list. It is a mixture of all sorts favorite Polynesian delicatessen that you just have to bring some beach chairs, an instrument, one small pop-up tent and stay their all day to eat, kick back & relax, kanakapila (play music), and enjoy the day in da parking lot...lol! Just visualize your sitting at Kokololio beach at a family gathering...hahaha! It's brand new and I'm excited for their journey, how it will manifest here in Arizona and all the many blessings they will be doing in the community! Go check them out if in Mesa, AZ

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Aloha Island market, a hidden gem of a Hawaiian market/restaurant. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of aloha. The owners take the time to engage with customers, sharing stories about the origins of the dishes and providing recommendations based on individual preferences. Their warm and friendly demeanor creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like part of the 'ohana (family). The food is also amazing. My mom and I tried the pulled pork and a beautifully marinated chicken( I can't remember what it was called). We also enjoyed a mango drink that was so refreshing on a hot day. I would absolutely recommend coming to visit. They change their menu daily so make sure to check out their website!!!

However, they can still be useful for holiday gifting, especially Things like fragrances and beauty products so we decided to pop in to grab a couple of items for the people on our holiday list this year. This store is a bit larger than the normal format that I am used to visiting as it was connected to a HomeGoods store that you could enter into from within the TJ Maxx. Now one disappointing feature about the fragrance selection is they now lock everything up and include a buzzer mounted on the side of the display case for you to push to have somebody come over and help you with your selection. Obviously, this prevents any real opportunity to smell any of the fragrances or to get any samples, which made figuring out what was available and what the prices were really difficult without calling somebody over. So we opted to forgo getting fragrances from TJ Maxx and shifted to beauty products. As we circled the beauty product section I noted two things. One is it is an entirely female game, guys not invited! Lol and two, the products didn't seem to be categorized in any real specific order or selection making shopping the individual aisles a bit frustrating and more like a treasure hunt versus a targeted destination purchase. That being said, we did find some pretty good deals on several beauty items, including bar soaps for the boys And perfume, lotions and body scrubs for the girls. We spun the block in the clothing sections and some of the men's accessories to grab the twins a couple of additional items, but ultimately, we found the pricing to not necessarily be that much more competitive than what we would find in some of the department stores, especially at this time of the year, so we ended up leaving with several of the beauty items, but not much more. I do think these stores still represent value for the right shopper And by the way, the line in this place was ridiculous. It moved fairly fast and they had probably eight cashiers online, but I definitely wouldn't hit this location thinking you're going to get in and out during any sort of busy holiday season.
