We had a service recall appointment today at 11:00 a.m. I scheduled it about a week ago with Ashley, who provided excellent customer service and found an appointment time that worked perfectly with my schedule. I arrived around 10:50 a.m. on Friday, pulled into the service area, and was greeted by Michael B. He answered all of my questions, explained the recall service, gave me an estimated completion time, and reviewed all of the paperwork with me before I signed. He was friendly, professional, and communicated everything clearly. At around 2:30 p.m., Michael called to let me know my vehicle was ready for pickup. When I arrived, he went over the completed service paperwork and even walked me out to my car. As a nice bonus, they gave my Kia a complimentary car wash. My car looked fantastic--the exterior was spotless, and even the wheels were clean and dry. This was by far the best experience I've ever had at Kia Waipahu. Unfortunately, I've had disappointing service visits in the past (as I mentioned in a previous review), so this visit was a refreshing change. Michael mentioned that he's new, and I'm so glad he was the one who assisted us. His professionalism, communication, and customer service made a huge difference and completely changed our experience. We're born and raised here in Hawaiʻi, and we truly appreciate being treated with kindness, respect, and clear communication. Thank you, Michael, for providing such outstanding service. Go see my guy, Ian Jackson. Never owned a Kia before and now my family is the proud owners of a 2027 Telluride Hybrid SX-Prestige all thanks to him. Originally went in to look at the Carnival as my family will be growing. Found good things about it, but the wife still wasn't convinced with the van. Ian ended up showing us the EV9. Still unsure about all electric. Then he showed us the newly designed 2027 Telluride. Wifey fell in love immediately. Long story short, we reserved the Telluride we wanted and ended up picking up in May 2026. Its only been about a week, but we love it. Communication and negotiations were great with Ian. We were close to not getting the trim we wanted, but Ian made it happen. So far so good with the service and products. I still keep in contact with Ian. Tried to get my trucks safety inspection, as I always have here, but suddenly there's an issue with the Insurance Card provided by Progressive that they just cannot accept. Spent the next hour trying to track down my agent and get a digital soft copy sent to my email. After downloading the insurance coverage declaration page, which includes all of my information and coverage, I thought we'd be good to go, but no.. As a matter of fact, NO! Not even the full declaration page could satisfy them, so I just asked for my truck back and left. - I was a loyal customer who used to always speak highly of them and refer everyone too.. My girlfriend and I purchased a 2017 Kia Sportage from Aloha Kia Leeward in April 2018 and also purchased a Platinum extended service contract for approximately $3,395. Beginning in 2022, we brought the vehicle to the dealership multiple times for repairs, including an oil leak and malfunctioning rear windows. During each visit, we were told the dealership needed authorization from the warranty company before repairs could be performed. After that, we never received a follow-up, a written approval or denial, or the requested repairs. We left each visit without documentation explaining why the vehicle was not serviced. We are in the process of sending requesting a written explanation and copies of any warranty claims or repair records. I hope the dealership will respond and resolve this matter. Our review reflects our personal experience. We expected better communication and customer service, especially after purchasing an extended warranty from the dealership. At a minimum, we believe customers should receive a written explanation of whether a warranty claim was submitted, approved, or denied, along with copies of the repair order. Hubby bought a jeep in Dec. waited for the registration and safety check for 6 months. He called every month and they never told us they sent it to our old address from. 10 years ago. So the registration is expired, we need an updater safety check and we need to go to the DMV to get another copy of all the paperwork. Meantime he was pulled over twice for an expired safety check because we didn't have one due to not having the paperwork. When they finally told us that they sent it to the wrong address (6 months later) they told us it was our job to go redo and get all the paperwork. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I purchased a vehicle from Aloha Kia Leeward in June 2024. In reviewing my purchase documents later, I identified a $1,295 charge for a product called "Plad Tech." My concern is not with the product itself, but with how it was presented during the sales process. Based on the purchase paperwork, the charge appeared incorporated into general pricing categories and alongside language such as "sold as equipped" and "no add-ons," while only later appearing in a separate optional agreement. After reviewing the documents in 2026, I raised this concern with the dealership and requested clarification and a refund. During follow-up discussions, I was informed the product is "automatically added" to vehicle purchases and that it is nonrefundable. I met with dealership staff, spoke with the General Manager, contacted Kia Customer Care, and filed a complaint with the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA). The dealership ultimately offered a partial goodwill resolution of $250 and maintenance services, which I declined because I did not believe it reasonably addressed the concern. I also identified similar customer experiences at other Aloha Kia locations from 2024 and 2025 describing concerns that the Plad Tech charge was difficult to decline or not clearly disclosed. I ended coming back here to turn in my 2017 Kia Optima because the engine blew up, not literally but overheated and it was done. I was chatting with James, a very nice guy who sold me a used 2021 Honda Civic. I love the car I got but because I didn't have a down, my monthly is expensive. My Kia was only worth $100 because of the engine being damaged. Oh well. The customer service here is excellent but cars can be pricey. I honestly don't want to buy another car. I think this maybe my last car I purchase for awhile until my car is paid off. They have a nice waiting area with free coffee and water. A snack machine and soda machine in one. My husband took in my leased car for servicing yesterday, and it took over 5 hours. Not to mention he was there with my toddler son, and they didnt even let him get the diaper bag from the car. Initially they said it would take 2 hours max, so they went to walk around at nearby stores. When he came back 2 hours later they said the Kia honolulu people put a tire on wrong when it got punctured with a nail a few months ago so they had to redo that and told him it would take another hour and a half. When he asked if he could grab the diapers form the car they told him no it was already on the lift. Car didnt get done till over 3 hours later. They didnt even apologize for it taking so long. If that was the case they should have let us know realistically how long it was going to take. I am extremely dissatisfied with them and their service. When I got there the lady told me it was 120 dollars and I told her why I was there and she says "did you get that in writing". Had I known they were going to charge me 120 bucks I would have just gone to my regular person and saved a day off. Funny thing about the "get it in writing" because when I picked my car up after the engine replacement the workorder said "complimentary car wash" and there was literally a stain on the back of my car where you can tell someone poured a soda so getting it in writing means nothing with this place. read more

Declining Customer Service Experience I've been a long-time customer at Aloha Kia Leeward, purchasing a used Kia Spectra and then a 2015 Kia Soul. One of the main reasons for staying with the Kia brand was its friendly service department and convenient location. However, after the dealership went through some business changes, the quality of customer service declined significantly. The familiar staff left, replaced by new employees who lack proper customer service skills. During my last visit for a battery change and safety check, the service was disorganized; no one confirmed the services I needed. Although the service time was acceptable, they forgot to perform the safety check until I insisted, and they also conducted an unauthorized oil change, which I didn't need. The oil change was charged on my oil package approximately 1700 miles too early. This experience has left me disappointed and considering ending my patronage and going with another make for a new vehicle purchase. read more

Just scored a 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid at a great price from Aloha Kia. Sales was typical with the pressure to buy today or "what is there to think about?" which I totally annoys me but I guess gives sales folks some creative freedom to make a sale. All was well until I returned today to give them a second key for my trade in but the windshield wiper flew off somewhere in Aiea and the check engine light was on. Was told that the truck had to go into the service bay and the service guy said that the truck was not ready to be released to the customer - me. Took about an hour of waiting in their nice cool lobby. Employees and sales folk are friendly even with my two dogs sitting with me. Truck was ready and wiper was installed and check engine light not lit up so cross my fingers its all good to go. 4 stars but more like 3.75 as I don't like the sales tactics or the typical finance experience of being sold an extended warranty but the guy was nice and decent and we traded stories of Big Island... maybe the localism helped me get out of there. By far the worst experience I've had at a dealership. Horrible customer service. Blatant liars! Made an appointment 2 weeks ago for a transmission diagnostic for yesterday was told multiple times promised my car would be done today ready for pickup and told I'd be contacted in the morning because the work would have been done before closing Monday by Ashley. First off recieved no call, thought okay cool maybe they busy, called around 11 and transferred me and got hung up on multiple times then eventually spoke to a service advisor and said I'd receive a call back once Ashley a service advisor was done with a customer. Sat around until 1pm with no call back when I then decide to show up to the dealership. I arrive and speak with Jennifer (the individual who originally made my appointment) and explained to her the situation and proceeds to explain that from what she can see nothing has been done. I was in shock hearing this n asked to speak to Ashley since she had just stepped out. Finally spoke to Ashley after waiting for her return (10 min) and again ask what's going on with my car. This absolute TRASH LIAR of a SERVICE ADVISOR then says oh it was started yesterday but the technician working on it had to stop working on your car since he got tasked out to another vehicle and the FORMAN is NOW working on it. Ask how long it'll be n says won't be for another 2 days until id get my car back and stepped outside to cool down since this is ridiculous, one person says nothings been done and another it's currently finally being worked on. I head back inside to ask to speak to service manager to try n get a loaner since my wife and I have 2 vehicles and she uses our other vehicle for work as well and are solely relying on 1 car. Am made aware that the service manager stepped out for an appointment and will be back at 3 and it' was 2 already at this point leave my number to have the manager call me once he returns and told that I can show up at 3 as well. Waited til 320 for a call back and to actually show up. Wait another 30 min for this manager Frank to finally come out and talk to me (I'm aware he's in shop at this point due to the advisors asking to contact him that I've arrived) Once he comes out I relay again that on multiple occasions Monday morning I was promised and guaranteed that my vehicle would be done today with a full diag to what's wrong with my transmission, pretty much laughs it off and says there's nothing they can do about it since it's a specialty technician that has to work on it and they are so heavily backed and he's the only one that can do it. There's 2 technicians that work on big services like this made aware to me by Jennifer and Ashley. Says my car is still in queue and hasn't even been looked at and won't for another 2-3 days before I could even pick my car back up. Ask again for a loaner since we only have 1 car and wifey and I both have jobs that require plenty of travel for us Says theres nothing they can do. It's our own issue for making transportation work. My car isn't even up next in the queue to get worked on so tell them to give me my damn car back because this is ridiculous. Absolute trash service and blatant liars. We were told the car would be available for pickup on Tuesday - expecting to get a call from our service advisor. We have contacted the dept numerous times requesting an update, to then come to the dealership to find out our car hasn't even been looked at. As someone who used to work as a service advisor I am overly disappointed in the lack of honesty and communication from the service advisors handing off responsibility and blame to one another as to why my vehicle as not been looked at as promised. Extremely shady and unethical dealership. I recently purchased a vehicle and had them ship it from Hawaii to California. I asked the sales person, Raymond, to send me photos of all of the bodily defects. He sent me a photo of one scratch. I assumed that was reality and trusted him. HUGE mistake. When the shipper delivered the car to me in California, I was handed some paperwork that I had never seen. When Raymond dropped off the car to the shipper in HI, the shipper gave him a disclosure showing multiple scratches around every side of the vehicle. Raymond signed it. That disclosure was never given to me up front. This is a clear violation of business laws. The first time I knew about this extensive damage is when the car was dropped off in my driveway. I have since tried to reason with the dealership, even proving what happened, and they are standing behind their unethical sales person taking ZERO responsibility. I even spoke to their attorney, who is also acting in the same unethical manner, and everybody is literally saying "we did nothing wrong". I have proof that they did, yet they are still unwavering and offering zero compensation while simultaneously guilty of disclosure violations, intent to deceive, and I'm assuming various other consumer laws. Stay far away from the dealership. They need to be put out of business. Update: I just saw the customer service response below, and even the customer service team is being given the direction to not comply with business law. They are still taking no responsibility for their failure to disclose and their violations of multiple consumer laws. Be prepared to deal with snakes and leaches and a 6 hour process (even if not going thru financing). This review goes to the snakes and leaches, not the inefficient process and negative experience we had. My mom asked me to come with her for the very reason she didnt want to be bullied by salesman. Before we went there my moms prediction was right. The first manager (who was the sales manager) is snake number one and latched his firm fangs, knew my mom was ready to buy. We asked him what he can do on the price. His exact words "Theres no wiggle room" my mom impatient and ready to go home, just rounded down and said "youre so stingy. Even tho he said he cant do it and there's no wiggle room and i knew that was a lie, sure enough he gave us a measly $300 discount for paying in cash. I never seen my mom so impatient. We already had the check written out, car chosen, we should be leaving. This was at 2pm. We were the last ones leaving with employees at 7pm. My mom was wandering seeking every manager were still there waiting. The finance manger said itll be just a few seconds. Since he said that it actually took 30 minutes. When we went in to the finance office he kept pushing my mom to buy the higher warranty. Without any justification, he kept asking "you shua?" "You shua?" "You shua?" He asked this about 10-15 times. Bought a Kia Sportage Hybrid over the weekend from Chelsea and had a great experience here. She went above and beyond to make me comfortable with the whole process especially after having been in a horrible car accident where my old vehicle was totaled and I was injured. I was very stressed with having to go through this while fighting with insurance and having to figure everything out, but the team at Kia and Chelsea were outstanding in helping calm me down, finding the right car and getting the whole financing down and out the door. With safety on my mind after what happened, Chelsea was very knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions, without pressuring me and still being very empathetic to my situation. I purchased a used Toyota Highlander. The moment I signed the purchase documents, the SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! I paid for registration and they gave me the temporary letter. But, I never received the registration sticker or the safety check sticker. I called several times and spoke to several people, but always got the run around. They gave me only one key faub and said they would get the second for me, but never delivered. After several calls, they ended up telling me to go to Servco Toyota to order one. After 5 weeks of not hearing if my claim was submitted I called them 5 days in a roll and no one returns my calls. I dropped off my Kia Optima and Kia had it for nearly two months. Checked it in and was told about the diagnosis fee and no other charges. One week, two weeks and then three ,still no word . I called and called and called. Left message after message....nothing. Even when I would talk to someone I would be transferred to a dead end. I finally had to go there and couldn't get a solid answer. As to this day I am still dealing with Kia. The car has a mechanical issue and found out my warranty will not cover the repairs. Go elsewhere! I bought my Kia new from Kia Leeward in April and I have had nothing but problems with the dealership since. When I bought My car I was told it would be 90 days until I get my registration and my license plate. 90 days passed and I did not get my registration or license plate. I do understand that Hawaii is changing their license plates. However this was not the issue. The issue was the dealership not following up on my license plate. I ended up having to go to the DMV myself Wait in long lines and get my license plate and registration on my own. I was reimbursed however, I had to sacrifice my time on top of Kia many times. That was just one of the headaches that I encountered after my purchase. The second problem was that Kia never sent my title to my lienholder. My lienholder kept calling me and telling me that they do not have my title and that they cannot get a hold of Kia via phone email or mail. My lienholder kept calling me for several months after my purchase telling me the same thing. I called Kia and they were not responsive. Finally someway somehow my title got sent to the correct person but it Took a lot of time on my part calling Kia several times not being able to get through them And then calling my lienholder telling them I was not able to get a hold of Kia. The last problem I had, which is what prompted me to write this review (I was just gonna let it all go) I was told several times by my sales person that the advantage care prepaid service program would work anywhere in the US. I told the sales person that I was moving and asked him several times if the advantage care would work where I was going and he said yes, it works anywhere, Multiple times. Turns out The Kia dealership where I am now knows nothing about it so after four days of calling Kia Leeward and not getting through to them,I ended up calling Kia Airport And one of the service representatives there told me that that was a false statement and that the advantage care prepaid program does not work anywhere, Only other dealership. What?!! If I would've known this, I would've gotten my oil changed before I left the island. Not only has this tied up my time calling my Kia dealership where I am now, calling Kia Leeward and not getting a hold of them and calling Kia airport and finding out this news, but it's also very disappointing. Another fail on Kia Leeward's part. I will never buy a Kia again. The seat belts don't retract properly causing the metal belt part to hang loose after the person unbuckles and gets out which is causing damage to the metal buckle and the mental frame has dents now. It seems like it's a Kia thing not an issue specific to my Kia because I seen dents in all the Kia door jams I've been in. Service is a $hit show. Appointments for diagnostics are taking 3 months!!! I called everyday for a week and left multiple voicemails with no response. I had to straight up physically go there to get the appointment scheduled. After finally picking up the car only half the issues were addressed. There were electrical sensor issues where the car would think I am going to collide and would randomly slammed the breaks. The service center addressed the 3 recalls on the car but did nothing to fix the electrical system. So I wasted $70 on Ubers back and forth and 2.5hrs just to find out the repairs didn't actually address the problem. read more

This review is for the sales department. We loved our car buying experience, Stephanie and Marco helped us so much when looking for a car. Honestly we felt so bad, we literally looked at 5-10 cars, we were so confused on which one to get because they were all such amazing cars. Even had them run numbers on each of them to compare which one was perfect for us. We decided on our new family car. We love it. We loved the shopping around, liked the crunching numbers part, loved the signing part. Definitely recommend Stephanie and Marco for the salesperson. I was totally Toyota person, but I wouldn't mind getting another KIA now because of them. read more

I love Kia and for the last decade that's the only car I've had. From Kia Optima to Kia spectra to now having a Kia Sorento I've truly loved them all. Kia is a reliable car that does not break the bank and with our last car we've really tried to only take it to Kia dealerships to be worked on to make sure everything is fixed to the standard of kia. Now fast forward my husband is military so we were stationed here last year and the leeward location is the closest to us so anytime we need anything car related we've taken our cars here. Have probably spent over 5k in the last year for our cars. But with this last visit and our family car being in the shop for over 2 months I can say I'm done with this location and will never spend another dime here. So recently our 2016 kia Sorento's engine blew. We needed a complete new engine and that's where the nightmare began. Thankfully it was under warranty but man it took 2.5 months for them to get the engine and fix our car, 2.5 months! We have 3 kids and between school, sports, appointments and just family outings we were SOL the entire month of august. Since we didn't get into a car accident our insurance wouldn't get us a rental and kia never even offered. That was until I started calling daily asking for updates because with my husband constantly working and needing a car I became stranded at home, even simple things like groceries became much harder. So all of august we were down to one car until finally September kia offered us a loaner car. It couldn't have come at a better time and I was so thankful but still confused how they knew there were no engines on island and they had to order one which took over a month to come in and not once did they offer a car to help, I literally had to beg. Then after our engine came in they continued to take their sweet time, constantly saying our car would be next to be worked on. Now what has me never coming back aside from the communication because if I didn't call we'd get absolutely 0 updates on our car was that the week before our car was ready they found another issue and asked if we wanted to go ahead and have them fix it which off course! So now October comes by and on the 11th we finally get our car back! It was in the shop since august 1. We were so relieved to have our car back but then I just got so annoyed. I was told we need new tires and breaks. They did the diagnostic months ago, our car sat there forever why where we never asked to do those services as well while they had our car sitting there. Then I drive home and find myself killing a ton of ants. They were everywhere and when we dropped our car off in august that was not the case. Off course I called Kia and frank told us the manager would call us back in the next day or so. It's been 3 weeks and I've called multiple times, left a message and off course haven't heard anything back. Customer service here truly needs help and the fact that we were now left with trying to get rid of ants after months of not having our car is unacceptable. I will drive across island before ever stepping foot into this establishment or giving them any more of our money. read more
