This review is just based on their Chinese chicken salad. We've gotten it twice, at the catering size. It's pretty simple -- shredded chicken, lettuce, and some type of chips. The clincher is their dressing. It makes the whole salad amazing. I honestly don't remember exactly what I ordered on my first visit, but I do remember leaving without any complaints. On my second visit, I ordered the Special Loco Moco. Presentation-wise, it looked really good and definitely got me excited to dig in. Unfortunately, after my first few bites, I noticed something that stood out to me after trying loco moco from different places, including in Hawaii. The beef patty tasted more like a frozen, pre-made patty rather than something freshly made in-house. The gravy and eggs were okay, but the overall dish was missing some seasoning for me. This was actually one of the few times I felt like I needed to add condiments to a loco moco. I ended up adding a little shoyu just to bring in some extra salt and flavor that I felt was missing from both the patty and gravy. The mac salad also wasn't really hitting for me. That may just come down to personal preference since I'm used to a certain texture and style from places I've tried in Hawaii and other Hawaiian restaurants. The chicken Chinese salad, though, was great! That was easily one of the highlights of the meal. The staff was helpful and friendly, which definitely made the experience better. The restaurant itself has enough tables for a casual dine-in meal, but I probably wouldn't recommend it for a really large group. The parking lot is also pretty small, with only a limited number of spaces available. Would I come back? Probably. My first experience was good and there are still other things on the menu I'd be willing to try. I ordered the chicken katsu curry plate ($18.90, plus tax of $1.98) for the first time, today. Potatoes and carrots are in curry gravy, served over rice and chicken katsu. I suspect that the vegetables were pre-cooked, then set aside until needed. (Some of the smaller vegetable pieces had a constant temperature throughout; some of the larger potato chunks were cooler in the center than the exterior.) But that's ok, because the vegetables weren't overcooked and had an "al dente" texture. The white rice and vegetables have a neutral taste. The curry had just the right amount of salt and spice to add flavor to these elements without being "too much". The meal also came with a small salad. This was unexpected. But the side salad provided a palate cleanser in between bites of curry. In my younger years, I would have finished the whole plate. Nowadays, I eat until no longer hungry. My son had the combo teriyaki plate. It comes with Mac Salad and a side chicken salad and white rice. That was ok, neither of us cared for the Mac salad as it had a sweet taste to it. I was craving some good salad and found this place. The pictures of the Chinese chicken salad got me so we ended up here. The place is in a little strip mall on its own. Inside there were a couple TVs showing a football game and open seating with some high top tables and some lower tables. They had a soda fountain with sauces like teriyaki, sriracha, and soy sauce, as well as ginger and chili oil. You order up at the counter and pay and then they bring your food out to you. I felt like the service was actually pretty good for what it is. The cashier taking our order was patient in answering our questions and repeated back our orders for clarification. He greeted us on the way in and out. I was honestly impressed with the food. The portions were huge and not too expensive. We got a few substitutions on our plates and they all came out exactly how we asked. I got the Katsu chicken donburi special and subbed the Mac/potato salad for the Chinese chicken salad. I was very happy to have a huge portion of salad. Both the Chinese chicken salad and cabbage salad were delicious, not over dressed, with a good amount of chicken and crunchy wonton chips. The Katsu donburi was flavorful and a hearty portion, served over rice. The juice from the donburi dressed the rice and the combination was perfect. My husband got the kaarage chicken plate which was also huge. The karaage was good, made with dark meat, but a little dry. They gave us a Katsu sauce to dip it in which was a little better but I personally liked the Katsu donburi better. My mother-in-law got the salmon salad and asked for no rice.
