Food was really good, I did not like the cole slaw (too pineapple-y for my taste/ not pictured) but the macaroni salad and chicken was absolutely divine! Service was meh in my opinion and the frustrating part was the drink machine was not fully working. Ambiance is good but the place could be a little cleaner So all that being said I'd highly recommend getting the food to go haha

UPDATE; After discovering this unique Hawaiian BBQ Restaurant about a year ago we're now regular visitors frequenting at least monthly if not more. Their HULI-HULI CHICKEN Plate is our favorite and if we cannot get in to dine I'll get it delivered via Uber-Eats. It's sweet honey-soy based bbq chicken thighs grilled & blackened and oh-so delicious! The plate comes with sticky rice and macaroni salad and can be swapped with other sides like coleslaw or two servings of one item. It's a comfortable lil place, not super fancy but definitely welcoming for a deliciously different style of grilled chicken! They have a menu full of Hawaiian goodies included Ribs and other Pork or Chicken items and since I had lived in Hawaii for a few years now absolutely need my monthly fix. Ordering at the counter and food delivered to the table with self service beverage's, the staff has always been friendly and prompt! It's a great value for the quantity and delicious taste and I'm now a regular!

Tastes just like home, food is so ono! Visiting from DC and was stoked to find a restaurant with Hawaiian local style food. Shoyu poke sauce is perfect! Big Kahuna plate had super generous portions perfect to sample everything. Mahalo for the grinds!

There aren't many Hawaiian places in Florida period, so I wasn't expecting something so good. Service was great. We were greeted right when we came through the door. We were asked all the right questions and the person helping us was super friendly, attentive and kind. Food was amazing. The Big Kahuna: 4/5 3 of their most popular entrees (kalua pork, ono teriyaki beef and shoyu chicken) with macaroni salad, rice and pineapple cole slaw. The entrees blew my mind and the portions were large. I also like how the macaroni salad was seasoned and although I'm not a cole slaw person I liked the pineapple! 4/5 was only because I thought with all that meat, 1 scoop of rice didn't feel like enough to me. Chicken Katsu: 5/5 Serving was HUGE. I also subbed the macaroni salad for a scoop of rice and it was totally worth! 3 scoops of rice with the fried chicken katsu and their katsu sauce. Chicken katsu is hard to find out here let alone something this delicious. Inside the space is large. There's a big dining area but half was blocked because they're redoing their floors. They had indoor and outdoor seating. The only small issue was that the floors were a bit sticky and there were some dishes and cups left from previous customers. 100% coming back again though. So glad I found this place and the food is

The service was good. The location is settled in a nice visible spot on the street. The food was just okay. I've had Huli Huli chicken in many places throughout the country and really enjoyed it. This particular preparation was really dry for chicken thighs. It threw me off a bit. The macaroni salad was as I remembered but otherwise everything was just okay. Anyone looking for the Hawaiian style food should give it a try. It just wasn't what I was used to.

BEST authentic Hawaiian food in Tampa Bay! Receipes are from the owner Jen a true island girl from Oahu. My go to is always the tuna poke bowl, lomi lomi salmon & huli huli chicken. You won't be disappointed! To make it a true Hawaiian day... 1.6 miles down the street at Ululanis Hawaiian shave ice. Mahalo

The food here is always delicious, especially that huli huli chicken! It's very flavorful and juicy and goes really well with the rice and macaroni salad. The service is great, especially if you call to order ahead of time because it's a super quick pickup process! They do have some seating inside and outside as well which is very cute and nice. I highly recommend checking this place out for something a little more unique and truly delectable

Phenomenal food!! I ordered to go and it took about 10 minutes for order up! The inside ambiance is cozy & the employees were very kind.

I ordered the Big Kahuna special and it was a huge plate of food, so make sure you bring your appetite. That being said, the Shoyo chicken and the Kaluha pork were not all that memorable. The beef was out of this world and the rice was cooked nicely. I would be the Teriyaki Beef or the Hulu Hulu chicken and I think this place is 5 stars. It really is a good spot and a solid 4 stars.

Hull Hull chicken (Their version of Hawaiian BBQ chicken) looks better than it was. Heavy ginger flavor.

If I could give another half star I would give them a 3.5. Food was pretty good but L&L Hawaiian BBQ sets the standard on which I judge Hawaiian Bbq and this place is a few steps below L&L when it comes to their bbq chicken and mac. Service was kind and prompt. Restaurant is on the dirty side so just don't expect anything fancy.

Combo Platter. Chicken and beef were my favorite

The restaurant is located behind the German club on 66th Street, a second business in the German club parking lot! Apparently, the family that has his place is from Maine and they got a lot of success brewing beer. That's success led them to start the restaurant serving seafood from a family business in Maine. We started off with a bowl of New England clam chowder and a dozen oysters. To what are whistles we got a glass of their tap Chardonnay and a beer. My wife's Chardonnay was ridiculously good! But nothing could beat those oysters - sweet with a little bit of brine, and very fresh. For dinner we got a lobster roll - they come hot or cold, with the hot coming with melted butter. We also got the fried haddock roll.... Wow! Both were fantastic! I know we overdid it with dinner.... We even got an order of the whole belly clams. I didn't think anyone in Florida served those down here! Absolutely ridiculous . In short, we had fantastic dinner and terrific beverages. I really recommend you at least try to find the place - we almost didn't go in because of its awkward location and the fact that no cars were outside. We saw the place was open and decided to have a appetizer because the Yelp review was so strong, and I'm glad we did! I told the two people there they should park their cars nearby so patrons would see them..... Anyway, I'm going back again, but this time I'm bringing friends!

Broke N Bored - Name Checks Out…read more We visited Broke N Bored with a group of 6 adults and 3 kids, and after nearly 2 hours waiting for our food, I can confirm the "Bored" part of the name is extremely accurate. I spent most of the meal wondering if the "Broke" part referred to the stove. When we arrived, there was only one other family in the restaurant, so naturally we expected a reasonable wait. Instead, we had enough time to watch the tides change, discuss our retirement plans, and nearly raise the children to adulthood before the entrees arrived. To start things off, we were encouraged to sit outside in the blazing Florida sun. With three little kids, that wasn't happening. The staff did move us inside, but seemed less than thrilled about it. Considering how long we ended up waiting, sitting outside would've turned us into SpongeBob from his out of water movie. Appetizers: * The PB&J Brussels sprouts were fantastic. Unique, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. * The seared tuna was very good. * The calamari tasted good, but apparently calamari prices must be through the roof because there were more fried banana peppers than actual squid. Service: The waitresses were friendly, but drink refills and table check-ins could have been much better. During a two-hour dining experience, hydration becomes a survival issue. Entrees: * The mahi was excellent. * The "pineapple slaw" had about as much pineapple flavor as a bag of plain cabbage. Just call it slaw and save everyone's expectations. * The crab cakes were mediocre and thinner than Slender Man. * The Caesar chicken wrap was okay, but I had to conduct an archaeological dig through the lettuce to locate the chicken. * Fries were fine. * The chicken caprese was decent if you got a bite with everything together, but the chicken itself was chewy and lacking flavor. * Mashed potatoes were dry. * Pulled pork was okay, but nothing memorable. * The Black & Blue burger was decent. By the time our entrees arrived, nobody had the patience left for dessert, so we skipped it. One final note: a restaurant this size having only two high chairs is a bold strategy for a family-friendly beach area. Overall, there were a few genuinely good menu items, especially the Brussel sprouts and mahi, and the staff was pleasant. But waiting almost two hours for food in a restaurant that wasn't busy overshadows nearly everything else. The food was mostly decent. The experience? Long enough to make the restaurant's name feel less like branding and more like a warning.

They had a fresh catch of grouper that day, so we decided to try the grouper nuggets. They're market price, but absolutely worth it. Even our friend preferred them over his fried fish. The batter was light, crispy, and delicious. Our kids ordered the bacon cheese fries and loved them. Just a heads-up: they use a nacho cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese, which some people may prefer to know ahead of time. Our friend from Massachusetts ordered the lobster sub (also market price) and said it was worth every penny. My husband and I split the grouper nuggets and the Philly cheesesteak. The bread is brought in from up north, and our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The sandwich was rich, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the onion rings. They use a beer batter, which wasn't our favorite, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, we'd definitely return if we're in the area again. The only downside was parking--$29.99 for two hours is pretty brutal. Thankfully, the food and atmosphere helped make up for it.

They have a really good smoky dipping mayo sauce that comes with the onion rings or fries. It is a very good sauce. They were pretty busy so that was awesome. We were immediately sat in their sushi room, the ambiance a bit outdated. Our server from the get go seemed rushed and distracted, but kindly answered our questions and took our order. Our steak tartar appetizer took a long time to arrive. Sadly wasn't up to par and seemed kinda mushier than any I've ever tasted. It also lacked seasoning, so giving that 2 stars. The accompaniments on the plate helped so it wasn't a total failure but still a disappointment. Their courtesy sourdough bread and olive oil with herbs was good. Our meal also took a long time to arrive. When it did, we had to ask for forks because apparently somebody didn't set the table correctly... and server didn't notice before our dinner service. He should have noticed when bringing out our appetizer at the very least. As for the main entrees, The panko hogfish and garlic mash was good, as well as the picatta sauce, 4stars. The filet mignon kabob with shrimp scampi was disappointing, 1.5 stars. We couldn't tell it was filet mignon and double checked the menu later thinking it was some other cut of beef. The shrimp in itself had a different odd taste. Not the scampi sauce which was good but the actual shrimp. We were not pleased at all with this type of shrimp. While our server glanced over at us several times before the appetizer, he didn't check on us again till about half way through the main course. By then I wasn't feeling well and had my husband flag him down to start our exit service. That took awhile too. 2 stars in service. For what this place use to be like back in the day, I would say the service and food quality have gone down. Today's experience was less than favorable and below average. For the price of the food, I would say we didn't get what we paid for. 2 sodas, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees was $110.. what we got in return didn't match. So to answer the magic question, no, we will not be giving this place our business anymore. Several misses on the food quality and execution made it less than desirable to give this restaurant another chance, especially at this higher price point as well.

It was a huge fillet, which makes up for having some smaller sides. I'll let you in on a little secret, I only eat fish when it's locally caught and fresh and this was worth it 100%. The house salad with Pima colada dressing has me imagining how to make this dressing at home. Sweet and creamy and easily coating every leaf. The bread at the start of the meal for a disproportionate amount of attention from my family. It was served hot, with garlic and maybe other seasonings across the top, and generous sides of butter. Our initial server, Kyle, kept the bread flowing for us until the meal came and it was fantastic. We gave the potato skins a try, and they were delicious! My family ironically isn't huge conch / shelled fish eaters so the rest of the appetizers didn't suit us much and this was a lil Midwest taste while on vacation. We returned to try the jalapeño crusted grouper and were again very satisfied. Totally different than the coconut mahi, it's savory and well flavored but leaves you far from begging for water. The fish is thick and flaky and the sauce was similar to a bang bang sauce to pair it all together. The favorite sides were loaded baked potato and garlic smashed potatoes!
