    Pulled BBQ Pork

This location is SOOO inconsistent. I try to stop weekly on my way home from work and it's truly hit or miss whether the food will be edible or not. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's so bad. Tonight was one of the worst. The pulled pork I ordered was stringy and plain and even had a yucky smell. I'm not even sure it was fully cooked. When you call to speak with a manager, they are never around and are always too busy to call you back. This place could have 5 stars if the food was consistent.

Another great dining experience at Sonny's BBQ of Largo!! Our server, Katherine was excellent!! Drinks were brought out and kept filled!! Food order was taken and food brought out quickly!! I had the seasonal Smokin' Gun sandwich on garlic bread with tater tots & ordered the seasonal dessert, Cinnamon Apple Bread Pudding to go. Generous portions as always on the food!! Every time we go is an exceptional time!! Always looking forward to the next time!! Restaurant is always looking clean and inviting too!!

**Great BBQ Feast & Fantastic Value!** If you're looking for a family-friendly BBQ spot with **big portions** and **great deals**, Sonny's BBQ in Largo is the place to be! We ordered the **Family Feast**, and wow--what a spread! For just **$49.99**, we got **2 lbs of delicious barbecue meat**, **three hearty side dishes**, and **cornbread**. It was meant for three of us, but honestly, this could have easily fed six! Talk about **bang for your buck** The staff was **friendly and helpful**, though a bit **disorganized**--hence the **four-star rating** . They were working hard, but service could have been smoother. One bummer? They **got rid of Sonny's brand Amber Ale** , which my husband used to love--bring it back, Sonny's! Overall, Sonny's BBQ is a **solid choice** for an **affordable, family-friendly meal** with **big portions and lots of specials**. Perfect for BBQ lovers who want **great food without breaking the bank!**

The food was very good and fresh. We got it to go in the drive thru, and the service was very quick and good. I can't speak on ambiance, since I did not go inside, but the drive thru is very helpful!

Would you willingly pay $10.49 for that small container that Sonny's sold me as a QUART of baked beans?
    John N.

I try to avoid giving 1-star ratings. Out of my 274 reviews, only 12 so far have 1-star, but wow.....my Sonny's visit really deserves the unlucky #13. I called to place a take-out order. I was told to go inside and pick it up at the bar. For convenience, I asked if I could use the drive-up window. I was told "no." However, when I arrived, there were 3 cars at the drive-up window. Strange... My order was just a pound of pulled pork and a quart of baked beans. The pork was fine and tasty as usual. I did not discover it until I got home, but the container of baked beans was very small and not a quart. I phoned the store and they said they do not sell beans by the quart, only small, medium, and large. This was also strange, as when I originally asked the lady taking my order if I could get a "family-sized" beans, it was HER suggestion that I order a quart. In my photo is the container of beans they gave me, next to an empty quart container. They charged me a whopping $10.49 for that container of beans, then argued with me about it instead of correcting their mistake. I bet Floyd "Sonny" Tillman would be very disappointed if he ever read this.

The home fried potatoes were golden brown and an excellent addition to the meal. The ambiance is super chill which is surprising considering how good the food is. We chose to sit outside, and even with the Florida summer heat, the overhead fans kept the patio comfortable, making for a beautiful evening. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. We loved the complimentary warm bread served with seasoned olive oil--it was a huge hit with the kids before our food even arrived. We started with the calamari, which was perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with two delicious dipping sauces. It disappeared quickly! For our entrées, the coconut shrimp was outstanding. The shrimp were large, coated in a crunchy toasted coconut breading, and paired perfectly with the orange blossom honey marmalade. The creamy garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and roasted tomatoes rounded out a delicious plate. We also ordered the crab cakes, which were packed with lump crab meat, perfectly seared, and complemented by the Creole mustard aioli. Our kids were just as impressed! The kids' fish and chips meal came with a surprisingly generous portion of flaky fish, crispy fries, and fresh fruit, making it an excellent value. Our other child ordered the adult cheeseburger entrée and couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was. It was thick, juicy, perfectly cooked, topped with melted cheddar, and served on a soft bun with crisp lettuce and tomato. Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. Combined with the relaxing outdoor atmosphere and exceptional service, Guppy's delivered a fantastic dining experience. It's easy to see why it's such a favorite on Indian Rocks Beach, and we'll definitely be back!

To our pleasant surprise, we were seated right away even though the restaurant was very busy! They initially placed us in a booth and we kindly asked if there was a table near the window since they had a great view of the water. The hostess checked and found us a table next to the window. Great start so far. Our server was pleasant, though service was a bit slow. But again, the restaurant was very busy so we understood and were just happy to enjoy a meal there. It was our last night on the beach and we were very hungry, so we decided to order a bunch of items: Espresso martini Bread basket Lobster bisque Smokin' fresh tuna spread Sushi Red grouper (catch of the day), Indian shores style with shareable side of au gratin potatoes Red grouper (catch of the day), wood fire grilled with mashed potatoes Shareable side of charred asparagus Our server spaced them out and brought out the drink, the bread, the soup, and tuna spread first. The bread was supposed to be sourdough, but when the basket came out I noticed it didn't look or taste like sourdough so we checked with the server and he informed us that they ran out of sourdough so they gave us basically a French baguette. This was surprising and quite disappointing because we should have been notified of the change right away. Also concerning for allergies, but fortunately, we didn't have any. Then came the sushi and finally the entrees. Almost everything was delicious. One of the grouper entrees was a bit overcooked, but we really enjoyed the sides. The espresso martini was smooth and strong. Even though I always make room for dessert, we decided to skip because by the time we finished our entrees, we had already been there for two hours. He helped us navigate the menu. The food and the wait time is what fell short for us. We were there for an over two hours. We ordered the Calamari appetizer. It wasn't as spicy as it was described on the menu. When we ordered our main dishes & Al a carte side items, the service slowed. Jerry visited our table a few times to note that he was checking the kitchen because our food was taking forever. We never even mentioned this to him. He noticed and kept checking. I appreciated that. For mains:I ordered a NY strip rare which was market price ($41) I found this out when the check came out. This was the longest and skinniest looking strip I've ever seen. The ends were completely overcooked. The middle was cooked properly so only part of my steak was edible. My friend ordered chicken Alfredo. This was the strangest dish. There wasn't even sliced grilled chicken on top. I would expect at least that from a high quality restaurant. Instead, there were chunks of chicken in it and some random asparagus. Out of the kindness of his heart, Jerry comped our appetizer and offered us a free dessert. It was a nice touch and we tipped him well. We asked for our dessert to be boxed because we were tired after the longest dinner I've ever had to wait for. This place came highly recommended and has great ratings, but I will not be returning. I hope you have a better experience than we did. Jerry was the star of the show here. Fantastic employee. The food? Not so much.
