We got there just before 4pm and took advantage of the early bird menu. Started With $5.75 happy hour Vodka Martini made with well vodka (I drank two!). Then I ordered the Crab Stuffed Tilapia with Lobster Sauce ($16.95) and Wing man Gary (USAF Pilot, Retired) ordered the Fried Shrimp ($16.95). We both opted for Caesar salad and fries for our sides. I have been back. What a mistake. Avoid. There are better seafood places around here. Drive to St Pete Beach and find a small place. Even Happy Hour is a joke. Decent spot for dinner, seafood focused standard fare. I decided to come here based on some of the menu offerings and I didn't have a super high expectation but it was a decent meal. I started with the clam chowder, it was good, super thick and strong taste of celery, not sure if it's a must or a "best chowder", but a good start. I was pleased with the size of the oysters, especially at the price. They were shucked well and very plump. Dinner comes with a salad and I enjoyed the standard Caesar salad. I ordered the Baltimore platter with a crab cake, shrimp and scallops. I was a little shocked by the portion for $32. It was a tiny plate. The food was good though, the shrimp and scallops were not overcooked, and the crab cake was actually much better than I thought it would be. Leverocks is so reasonably priced, and the quality of the food that relates to its price point is excellent. I ordered fish and chips for $15.95. This was a great deal for a generous portion of white fish, deep fried, crispy and well coated batter, along with well seasoned french fries underneath. A freshly made small batch of coleslaw accompanied the order. Lemon and tartar sauce were on the side. For $15.95 I loved this dinner special. Yes there were a lot of old people in here, but keep in mind old people know where the deals are. I had a draft beer at $4.50, that accompanied my dinner. My dear friend had a wedge salad with shrimp. I don't know what the price was, but it was close to $15. What she got was a generous portion of lettuce with five well seasoned sautéed large shrimp. On top of the wedge salad was blue cheese dressing that she said was delicious. The shrimp were in a little bowl on the side. We shared a lovely slice of Keylime pie for dessert. This definitely was restaurant made, and delicious. Well worth $7.00 With the tip, dinner for two with a drink and dessert came to $60 and change. This was a great great deal. I was pleasantly surprised with a wonderful dinner at Leverocks recently. I haven't been here in over 20 years. I was impressed by the specials which included grouper cheeks and chair grilled octopus. My raw oysters were fresh and delicious and the bacon wrapped scallops with shrimp were also delicious. I first ordered stuffed Talipia and sweet potatoes fries and sent it back to kitchen. The fries were burnt and shriveled up and the talipia was discolored and hidden under sauce. I ordered chicken Cordon Blu and got breaded chicken also burnt to ugly brown. I talked to manager anded if they ever change fryer oil and cleaned the unit. She said they paid a company. WELL, Get another company. I took it home and took off breading and was shocked at small rolled up piece hard chicken was inside. I've lived here for over two decades, and this is easily the worst food I've ever come across. Nothing was fresh. The tap water was the best thing on the table, oh, and the kale garnish.. Salad is hard to mess up, but they did it effortlessly. Too much dressing (said it was house, it wasn't house). The fish was oily, and came with such little rice pilaf hiding underneath it, I thought that they had omitted it altogether. The fries were straight freezer to plate. Leverock's Great Seafood was not great, sadly. Came in on a reasonably busy Friday night and was seated immediately. Place had some cool decor and Christmas lights up inside. Started off great with the drinks and bread/olive oil for dipping. But the problems started with the main course. The shrimp pasta still had the tails on the shrimp. While this isn't awful, it's also not ideal from a patron standpoint. It would probably only take a few seconds to snip the tails off. My grouper sandwich: bite #1 had a bone. Weird. Bite #2 also had a bone. Things aren't going well here. The 3rd bite had a 3rd bone and I was pretty well done with my grouper sandwich. Fortunately, the wait staff recognized the issues. Couldn't do anything for the shrimp in the pasta, but did take my grouper sandwich back and brought some fried shrimp (my second choice from the menu). It was fine, but the fries were slightly undercooked and a bit starchy. This was really a 2.5 star experience, but I'll round up because the service was solid and I was told by many locals that this was an outlier. Regardless, with the bevy of great dining places in the area, I probably won't be coming back here. read more

My wife died on May 26, 2022. I had never been there without her and never in the bar. So in 2024 I went back and went to the bar, I had a complaint about the bartender and asked to see the manager. She came over and right away told me the last time I was there she threw me out and told me to never come back. I had never been there alone before and was never thrown out. This is a restaurant that has been around for many years and I had stopped eating there long ago. I went there 3 times in the last 2 months because my mom loves it. Today I had Oysters Rockefeller and I must say, they were incredible. The hollandaise sauce was light and exceptional. The oysters were so large. They had very small olives on the oysters. I had never experienced that and they were wonderful. My dinner was the Cesar salad with blackened shrimp. The shrimp were large and moist. The bread crumbs were tasty but not crisp. My mother had the Scrod with sweet potato fries. She loves their coleslaw. I also had a Mojito. It was the best mojito I had had in a long time. My aunt and uncle took us down to Gulfport when we were visiting. The service was friendly. The scrod Jason was really good. The tomato salad (not listed on the menu but the locals know about it) was delicious. Very ripe tomatoes and the sauce was flavorful. We saw a sign for peanut butter pie and it was so yummy. My wife and I recently ordered the grouper dinners. The filets were thin and small....not what you would expect for grouper. I have lived in South Pasadena for the last two years and have driven by Leverock's over 1000 times. I have also seen all their commercials and heard their advertisements on the radio. I just never got the time to have dinner there. Before starting my new job on Wednesday, my mom wanted to take me out, so I suggested this establishment. We had a wonderful time as the place was packed, but we likely found two seats at the bar, and James, the bartender, took terrific care of us. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer for both my mom and me, and they were delicious; for the main course, I went with the San Francisco and was so happy with what I got. We saw on the menu that the dessert was the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake (not photographed here), but that alone is worth coming back for alone! This is a legendary St. Pete staple. Before living in the area, my parents took us here in the '80s on vacations. The food is consistent as is the service. I used to work for Johnny Leverocks back when the store was overlooking the water offcausecauseway bridge going into St. Pete beach. The menu looks the same, and I could probably walk into that kitchen today and still get nasty in that kitchen. I was so disappointed in the Clam Chowder this week! I would give it a D. I was there twice this summer and both those times it was then a definite A+, the best ever. Leverock's is the perfect place to go when you want a really nice meal but still want to dress casual. It's dark and relatively quiet, but still very warm and comfortable. The staff is very attentive and friendly -- dressed all in black they're like nice ninjas that appear just in time to refresh your drink with a smile. The food is really strong (I'd recommend the black and blue salad), and drinks are usually BOGO for beer and wine. The peanut butter pie is a great finisher for dessert as well! read more
