My husband and I eat here pretty often (takeout usually). We used to live in Hawaii, so this spot scratches our itch when we're craving a plate lunch. One thing I will say, I wish they gave you katsu sauce with the chicken katsu. I always just make my own at home, but that is my reason for -1 star. It does say it comes with it, or it's added on there already, but I have never received anything resembling katsu sauce. Everything else is great, we love the food and Mac salad. I love this Aloha Aloha location. The staff is actually super sweet, the space is clean and and the food is always fresh and yummy. I like to get the Hawaiian barbecue mix with white rice and mac salad and their Peach Berry tea is so good as well and has converted me into liking jellies in my drink. read more

First time here and so glad we stopped in. Our family needed a quick dinner spot on the way home, and this place ended up being a great find. I wish I knew the name of the gentleman working that evening because he truly took care of us from start to finish. He made thoughtful recommendations, took our order, brought out the food, and checked on us throughout the meal. That kind of all-around service really stood out and made us feel welcome. The food was really good, even for our picky eaters, which says a lot. It seemed like we ordered practically everything off the menu, from the spam musubi to the Hawaii short ribs. Stopped by Alohahola and was pleasantly surprised! I built a poke bowl with two proteins -- spicy tuna and salmon -- and loaded it up with all the toppings and garnishes I wanted. For $13.95, it was a great deal and super filling. The fish tasted fresh, and everything in the bowl came together perfectly. I also tried the crab rangoon and the spam musubi -- both were excellent. The crab rangoon was crispy and flavorful without being greasy, and the musubi had that perfect balance of sweet and savory. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I liked that you can order either from the kiosk or directly at the counter. The whole experience was smooth and easy. Aloha Hola was such a great find! From the moment I walked in, the place felt bright, spacious, and extremely clean, making it a really comfortable spot to sit and enjoy a meal. While the fried rice was a little mild, it actually complemented the bold, savory meats really well instead of overpowering them. Sister ordered picked up so I did get to see the inside. Loco moco is my favorite whenever I get Hawaiian food. Portion size of loco moco was good but food was okay only. It was served over a bed of cabbage? (That probably made the plate look huge) The gravy and patty didn't have much flavor. The potato salad wasn't the best either. Also got the lychee rose Mille crepe cake.. couldn't taste the lychee much, but rose flavor was super strong, made me a bit nauseous after eating it. read more

My family and I finally tried Alohahola on Newtown Rd. today. October 2025. Their food photos on Yelp looked very appealing to us, so we went. Here comes my frank and honest review... Very clean and clinical feeling inside. "Table sanitized" markers on each empty table. At least you know it's clean. You order at 2 kiosk stations, which we love, or you can order at the counter with a person. We went with the kiosk because we think that is a superior method. You get photos, explanations, options. And then the kitchen staff have it in writing what you want. Nothing to forget. We had 4 in our party, ages 57, 52, 18, 16. And we were starving after church. I had the bbq chicken, which was a LARGE portion of chicken thigh chunks, with fried rice, macaroni salad, and under the chicken was a sizeable bed of shredded cabbage. Listed, I'm a big guy and a big eater, and can pack some food away, and I was FULL from it. Very happy full, almost too full. I think the chicken could have used more seasoning and spices to be epic, but it was still good! Wife got the chicken with peppers and onions, forget the name, and extra spicy. It was chicken thigh chunks cooked with peppers and onions and spices and shiracha sauce on top. Also white rice and macaroni salad. HUGE PORTION! She ate half and took the rest home, and the container still felt like it weighed a few pounds! Now if you have read my other reviews, you know my wife is rather hard to please with restaurant food. She's rarely ever impressed. But today I heard her say at least 6 or 7 times that her food was really really good. I was shocked! Next my 18-year-old daughter got some type of spam Moco loco. It also with a very big portion, and she loved it! It was spam slices and egg on a bed of shredded cabbage, with white rice, macaroni salad, and a tub of gravy. She thought it was epic. Lastly, my 16 year old son who is very easy to please with food, almost will eat anything, in mountainous amounts, and go back for three and four helpings, and stay skinny... So he got the they were like fried Chicken thigh chunks dusted with sesame seeds and seasoning, along with the bed of thin shredded cabbage, rice, and macaroni salad. He said it had no taste, no seasoning, kind of tasted like air chunks. He took the whole thing home to season up better. He was not impressed. Other things that happened... Wife got a taro boba drink that was very good. Son got a coffee iced boba type drink, said it was good. Daughter got a slice of matcha cheesecake and it was very good but pretty tiny for almost 6 bucks. And lastly I went to order their tiramisu. Now on the order screen it shows a nine slice tiramisu that you order for $5.95, but what you get for that six bucks is literally one of those nine slices and it measured 2"x2" and 1/2" thick, so it's baby tiny for the price. And it didn't taste like tiramisu, so that was disappointing for sure. Would we go back? Absolutely yes. We want to try their short ribs and other things. But we won't be buying the tiramisu, that's for sure. read more

Super confused on how this place got so many 5-star reviews. It was overpriced and not very flavorful. All their meat is basically doused in sugary sauce and served over rice. It tastes really low quality, even for a fast casual place. The staff seemed confused by our questions regarding the difference between the types of meat. Overall, wouldn't go back here. read more

Came in and ordered off the kiosk, BUT the staff were very attentive and welcoming. They saw I had finished everything but my sides and brought me a bag without asking beforehand. The decor was so nice, music was a great vibe, and it was so clean & inviting. The service and quality are unmatched. We got some good recommendations from the staff, who were also so friendly. I am so impressed with the food too. We had the Katsu, mixed BBQ, and a chicken masubi (we don't eat pork), but everything was so good. My wife and I walked into a clean and bright interior with pictures of the Islands on all the walls. Unfortunately, they were not playing Hawaiian music to add to the ambiance. For those of us who have been stationed in the Islands, there's so much wonderful Hawaiian music available. The staff of two young men were very nice and helpful with our order. Alohahola is more of a Hawaiian - Asian fusion bill o' fare, rather than your typical Hawaiian Drive-In, like say L&L. I ordered the Hawaiian barbecue beef short ribs and shrimp mix. Grilled shrimp in a garlicky bbq sauce. Thin slices of grilled beef marinated in a garlic, ginger, soy bbq sauce. My wife ordered the Hawaiian barbecue chicken, tender chucks of chicken, marinated in a garlic, ginger, soy, teriyaki sauce, then grilled. The portions are so generous, we could have ordered just one entree for the both of us. So, we had lots of left-overs for lunch the next day. Both entrees were great. My one complaint is with the sides. The sticky rice was not sticky enough; the macaroni salad was not creamy enough compared to what we knew in the Islands. We also ordered the Spam musubi and their Crispy Spam musubi. The Spam musubi order was two very large Spam musubi with nori wrapped completely around them. Twice the size of the musubi I ate in the Islands. They were a meal in themselves. The Crispy Spam musubi was tempura batter surrounding two very large Spam musubi fried crispy then cut into California Roll-style pieces with this gorgeous teriyaki sauce on it. My wife and I loved this appetizer. This is a real winner. They also sell Hawaiian Sun soft drinks from the Islands. Our first visit, we will be back. read more
