I liked the ambience of this restaurant. Our reservation was at 7 PM. They were very accommodating on add-ons of our party. I thought the pricing for six at the end of the meal was not too bad for a birthday dinner. It seemed very affordable for the food and drinks that we were ordering. We thought that we could get out by 9 PM to head over to Dawn club which is a jazz bar, but the food actually took a little longer to make. I don't know if that was normal, but the food did come out too late and we had to rush out by nine. I don't know if it's cause we ordered slow. I'm not sure. The appetizers were good but the main course didn't live up to expectations. We got the Alora tasting platter which had excellent dips. Their saganaki was very tasty too. However, the steak we ordered was overcooked (even tough we asked for medium rare). The "hand cut" pasta somehow tasted worse than store bought pasta and the rabbit cannelloni was just a mush of flavors that didn't go well together. Overall giving it three stars for the quick service and lovely ambiance. However, the food doesn't warrant even two stars. I went tonight for a birthday dinner, and I was thrilled with the experience. We were the first or second group in for the evening and were greeted by a friendly hostess. She escorted us to our table where I was surprised to see a birthday card signed by a few of the staff. Classy! A couple of our friends joined us and we were on our way to a memorable feast. I am not normally a gin guy but I ordered the Olive's Dream cocktail and loved it so much I had another instead of one of the other amazing cocktails that are so creatively concocted. The food was SPECTACULAR. I loved everything I had. The hummus, eggplant dip (I normally am not a fan of eggplant but this was bomb), the lamb kebab appetizer was truly some of the best lamb I've had. We shared the appetizers. For my entree I selected the chicken adobo pincho. I could not believe how good that was. I love spicy food and I don't always get chicken but this blew me away. The braves style potatoes were perfectly crunchy on the outside and tender inside The chicken was spiced to perfection and the portion was huge! I was expecting a tiny portion. The grilled padron peppers were sensational - just cut a sliver for each bite of chicken and BAM! Foodgasm galore. I didn't have room for desert but they brought me a lovely little sorbet with a candle anyway and I gulped it down as a perfect way to end such a spectacular meal. I haven't been going out to try new places this year too much so I am thrilled to have found this place. It is reasonably close to home, I love the setting on the Embarcadero and I truly loved everything I tried there. Alora is a comfortable and calm place that is very well decorated with great service. We had evening reservations for around 6pm but it's not really needed, i do think this place deserves more traffic. It has beautiful views of the bay coupled with great service and flavorful food. Food: I don't have photos so I don't remember all the things I ordered, but everything we had was great and has potential to be shared. I think the kitchen does a great job of properly seasoning everything. The dessert we had was baklava and the fudge cake, recommended by the server, both very enjoyable. Swung by during for lunch here at Alora. The ambiance was amazing, we sat outside and the view was phenomenal. It was so pretty and calm outside. We got seated immediately and servers were attentive to us. Ordered two pastas and a steak to share. Lasagna: 5/5 I have never had lasagna like this, the texture and layering was different. Rather than the pasta being horizontally layered, they were vertically layered. It was magnificent! Pici: 5/5 The hand rolled noodles were sooo chewy and yummy! I loved it and would get again. From the same owners as Rooh and Pippal (two of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Bay Area) comes Alora, a new, elegant restaurant with a stunning bayside view and a menu focusing on coastal Mediterranean cuisine. We started with the classic Hummus Tahini, a super creamy dip made of puréed chickpeas and tahini, topped with chickpeas, green zhug, urfa, aleppo, and olive oil, served with a freshly-baked sourdough einkorn pita on the side. This was actually my favorite dish of the meal, as the hummus was super creamy and paired nicely with the slightly spicy toppings and the soft, chewy sourdough pita. We also tried the light, airy sourdough focaccia, baked with olive oil and sea salt. Next, the Carrot Fattoush was a salad made of roasted carrots, farro, blood orange, pomegranate, arugula, and crunchy pita chips, all in an acidic dressing; and the Octopus dish came with two super tender oven roasted confit tentacles served with tzatziki, cauliflower escabeche, and a crispy potato pave, made with layers and layers of sliced potato. The only dish I wasn't particularly impressed by was the 'Nduja Lasagna, made with sheets of pasta layered with bolognese and bechamel, served over 'nduja pomodoro and topped with lots of grated Parmesan. While the slice of lasagna was beautifully presented with a caramelized top, the flavors were rather one-dimensional and the pasta was slightly overcooked. Finally, the Adana Kebab was a spicy Turkish-style ground beef and lamb kebab, topped with sumac onions and served over a thin, crispy za'atar flatbread. The kebab also came with toum and harissa on the side, which added a nice garlicky and spicy flavor to the meat. Overall, the food here was delicious and beautifully-presented, and the atmosphere (reminiscent of the owners' other restaurants) was modern and elegant. The service was super friendly as well, and the prices reasonable for a fine dining restaurant of this caliber! read more

This was our first time experience dining at Alora. I just came across Alora from Instagram. I like Mediterranean food so we ended celebrating my birthday dinner at Alora tonight. We were welcomed by the host and got a nice indoor table. The dining room was elegant looking, the chandeliers were hanging beautifully, the service was superb and the Mediterranean food was delicious and delectable. Carl, who was our server, was very pleasant to talk with. He made my birthday dinner enjoyable with the family. The kitchen is in the separate building but across the actual restaurant. Since this was our first time at the restaurant, we asked Carl for his recommendation from the menu. We had a bottle of Cabernet Franc 2020 and it was delicious. For appetizers, we ordered tahini hummus, eggplant & muhammara & bread. For the main course to share, we had Izgara & Forno with 2 side dishes of roasted vegetables & roasted golden potatoes and eggplant. I had a complimentary pear sorbet with a candle. We ordered the spicy chocolate cake for dessert. We stayed about 2.5 hours in the restaurant since it was Monday and quiet. We told the server and host that we will return and even come back with friends. I recommend Alora for fine dining like a date or special occasion or business lunch. read more

Food is tapas style. Very small portions. Some dishes were literally only one bite. Be prepared to spend if you have a bigger appetite. The hummus tahini and Muhammara were one of our favorites. Generous portions and the sourdough pita was hot and fresh and a great combination together. We also did a few mezze dishes. These are supposed to be small bites but they were expensive for just ok items. I tried the dolmas. They were too salty and the filling was just ok. Not very flavorful on the inside even though the outside was salty. We also did the Bunuelo. This was tasty, perfectly fried and seasoned. This is also going to be a one bite dish but since it has caviar, this one bite is going to run you about $17 each. We did mains in a family style but the size of the dishes are on the smaller side as well. We tried two pastas, and a large plate dish. For pastas we ordered the Pici and the ravioli. Each pasta was good and fresh but nothing to write home about. I would pick the ravioli over the Pici. The hand rolled pasta reminded me of undercooked udon and even with the burrata, the flavors were too lite. The ravioli is more unique. The combinations of the crunchy pecans and the sunchoke mushrooms is different. For larger plate we ordered the adana kebab. It was yummy. Perfectly flavored. Even tho the pita bread underneath was soggy it was soaked with a lot of the flavors. Even tho this dish says it is for sharing, I would say it's enough for one adult to eat by themselves. read more

Upon arrival the general manager was patronizing and was not kind about not having a reservation despite us being flexible about sitting at the bar and understanding that we may not be seated. He also had his work materials on the bar and was being unprofessional and doing computer work while we were dining. A couple's food had an extreme delay and they were visibly upset. Lastly, I got food poisoning from the shrimp and felt absolutely terrible the next day without eating anything else prior to having a negative reaction. Would definitely not go back. read more

This place was downright amazing. We got a seat right next to the bay and had an excellent view and the staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for advice and suggestions. The place was definitely on the livelier side and had a good hustle as there were many people about for a Thurs night. The place is well organized and even had a bar area that we could order drinks from while our table was getting setup There was nothing here we didn't like except the lasagna which was maybe a 7/10 (so not bad, but not amazing and was weak compared to everything else). We got muhammara was had an amazing flavor and great crunch with the pomegranate seeds and nuts and the bread was so fluffy and paired excellently with the spread. The souvlaki lamb was so soft and juicy, and despite us usually not being a fan of lamb meat, I would definitely order this one again. The adobo chicken and Adana kebab were also jsut amazing, I can't express how much I think you should order those. They were both so soft and flavorful and the bravas that came with the chicken were so crispy on the outside and soft inside it was like a party for my mouth. Even the drinks were great (I suggest getting the Georgian wine and the fruit of desire). You really can't go wrong with the food and drinks here. Would 10/10 come back and enjoy another meal here and recommend you do the same :) read more

I run by here in the mornings and noticed that there was this new restaurant . So decided to check it out this past Sunday for lunch. Made reservation for 2 but since it's new, there were lots of tables available. It's a beautiful restaurant. I had requested indoor table in case the weather didn't cooperate but as soon as I saw the outdoor seating, we changed our mind. Plus it was beautiful sunny day! They also have heaters overhead which were turned on as the day got chillier. Very beautiful view of the northern waterfront /San Francisco Bay. There's an old boat anchored in front that adds that little oomph to the view. They have a nice cocktails menu (as well as wine). We really enjoyed the cocktails! For appetizers we selected 2 dips- eggplant and muhamara (this was our absolute favorite). And the sourdough pita bread was soft, warm, delicious. We asked for another one! For main I had the adana kebob (beef and lamb) which was very flavorful. The spouse had the very delicate gnocchi. They were like little puffs of air. Delicious! We did not have room for dessert but maybe next time. And yes everything is quite expensive. The first cocktails we had were $20 and $21. The kebob was $44, and was small. Gnocchi was $25. Dips were about $20. However you are paying also for the location. And the views. Their prices are in line with others in the area like La Mar and Coqueta. I had a little issue with the table, it was off balance or the design is not quite stable. I ended up spilling food on my pants. Minor issue though. Service staff was all over it. BTW, very good service overall. Other than that, I think it deserves 5 stars. It's beautiful, classy restaurant with delicious food. It's a welcome addition to the northern waterfront. Went for Mother's Day lunch. Very personable and welcoming staff. The service was fairly quick. Pros: Pici - burrata pasta was extremely creamy and complimented the chicken very well. Chicken Pincho - the patatas bravas were very crispy on the outside and well seasoned and the chicken was tender Zatar Flatbread - Great to pair with the Muhara dip Chocolate Cake for two - sooo delicious. The cream cheese ice cream was so unique and the cake itself had so many notes of different flavors like pistachio and rose. The flakey salt was a great touch. Skip: Mushroom Kebab - good not great and honestly would not get again. Don't really know what the kebab interpretation was but the dish itself was not bad. We (2 vegetarians) went to Alora for dinner and loved the space. Really beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. The cocktails we got were quite good (I loved the Alora spritz). The food however was just fine: Honey-sherry stewed olives: this starter was good! It was like an olive chutney, sweeter than expected but pretty good with the ricotta and focaccia. Pici pasta: probably my favorite dish we had and objectively delicious but ultimately nothing particularly unique/outstanding/that can't be made at home Mushroom Kebab and Pilaf: again good but not great! Overall, nothing negative to say about Alora but the menu isn't cheap so wouldn't recommend to all. The vibe felt very "team offsite dinner, our company is paying the bill" so if that's what you're going for it might be the right choice! read more

The staff allowed a party to come indoors with a dog that spent the entire time making high pitched barks. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, she reluctantly went and said something to the party. The dog continued barking. We asked for the manager who was rude to us and said there was nothing she could do. Really? You're not going to tell them they need to put the dog in the car? It was a cool night, no danger. I'll add that we've had dogs all our lives and have raised guide dogs. To add to the insult, we dropped $170 for two people on food that was just meh. Rear patio is torn up and badly taped together. Appetizer took 20 min to come out and the mixed grill took another 20 min to come out. The meal itself was a messy combination of god knows what. Za'atar bread didn't look smell or taste like za'atar. Pork sausage served on the same plate as Turkish Adana kebab? What a crime. Too many liberties taken by a restaurant with an unusual understanding of what Mediterranean food could be. Mishmashing ingredients together because they all come from the same general geographical region without understanding the nuisances of the each individual cuisines and bridging based on similarities or sharp contrasts is a monstrosity. The only way this place could mess up (and they did) is by charging me 260 dollars for an appetizer, mixed grill, and one sparkling water. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Outstanding service from hosts. I had a reservation booked for another restaurant on the pier but they canceled last minute due to a event book out. When we arrived they connected us to Alora. Although they were booked up for the night they found us a spot because they are amazing and wanted us to have a nice dinning experience. We went on the official opening day and had no idea what to expect. We got some cocktails and shared plate and each got a main. The food was fresh and delicious. I would come back. I made a reservation for two for dinner. I arrived and I was immediately informed it was for outside seating? The reservation was for indoor seating. Even more annoying, the outside seating is limited to tables against the wall and undesirable location for any couple. The service staff would not seat us anywhere else even though the entire restaurant was nearly empty stating it was for other guests. I immediately cancelled the reservation and walked out.
