Located in a stall next to the Hilo farmers market. I ordered the curry noodles because I am always craving both curry and noodles and it just spoke to me on the menu. The meal was cooked fresh on the spot and had so much flavor. Veggies and noodles were both cooked to perfection, and it came with a perfect crunch of peanuts on top. I asked for it spicy, and it was absolutely perfect for me - if you don't specify - it automatically comes as mild. It's located next to a sushi place and kula açaí bowls, and there is a shared seating area for all 3 restaurants so it's perfect for going with a group of people who all want to eat different things.

Came to this Thai place near Hilo farmers market inside the food court. It's more like a 3.5 star in my opinion. The last took our order of Pad Thai and Pineapple fried rice and made it right away. Both were okish. Price point was cheap for Hawaii. It's a pretty small food court shared with just two other restaurants. There were two other folks who seemed to really enjoy their Thai curries and seemed like regular visitors.

Surprised to find an EXCELLENT THAI CUISINE outside LA and SF! My wife favorite Thai dish is Yellow Curry. Aloydee's was the very best ever! In my Occupation I have traveled across US, weekly having Thai food. This was the MOST DELICIOUS Pad Woon Sen anyplace! The Proprietor, Ann, is a Very Delightful Master Chef! We strongly RECOMMEND THIS THAI FOOD COUNTER COURT!

Back on the island and of course I had to stop by. She has a lot more options which makes it harder for me to choose from. I want to try everything!

Decent Thai food for very cheap! I would give them a 3.5 for the flavour, but the low prices make them a 4.0 value.

Thai iced tea for only $2.50! Can't beat that! Pad Thai was a little salty, and not very authentic. There was not enough chicken in the pad Thai either. Fast and friendly service. Down to earth place.

    Front counter. Cash only!

CASH ONLY! We had to take money out of atm! The lady was super nice food was made fresh upon order. The spring rolls were awesome But the downside was the chicken pad Thai was just ok, Not the 5 stars I expected, I have had better in flavor. Plus side They were also at the farmers market but with the heat I rather have fresh made.

Medium spicy green papaya salad. Oh how I missed these! Too bad nowhere in Alaska seems to sell it.

The Green Papaya Salad was amazing! I'm glad I bought from here rather than waiting in the long line in the hot sun at the market's green papaya salad wagon.

Great hole in the wall place with authentic Thai food. The lady behind the counter was shredding the papaya and the carrots so I know the food is definitely fresh! She cooked both dishes in less than 10 minutes! I came from California so it's definitely the same great as the ones in cali. Give it a try if you feel like Thai food. Burp...

Absolutely impressed with the quality of food. You cannot get fresher than this! She makes each plate individually once you order and it tasted amazing!! Hubby ordered pad Thai with chicken I opted for panang curry with chicken. We also ordered summer rolls which were huge! Everything was incredible and taste was superb. Little hidden gem... But totally worth it! Prices are great too! Hubby loved it so much he ordered a second plate

    Shrimp Summer Rolls... Yum!

The lunch special is served with an Asian side salad that has a vinaigrette dressing, which was a nice way to start the meal. The curry itself was also great. Portions are large, and the curry is served with a side of rice. The dish has a lot of veggies, a lot of flavor, and a perfect kick of spice. Seems to be a local favorite during the workweek for people who work in the area, and I can see why!

The restaurant wasn't super crowded, so we were able to get seated right away. For three of us, we shared the green papaya salad, pork basil, green curry, and pad kee mao. I loved the variety of the food. You can never go wrong with a Thai noodle dish, and the pad kee Mao was definitely my favorite. The noodles were the perfect texture and very flavorful. The papaya salad had a good crunch, and the green curry was delicious. The pork basil dish was a little interesting, and I would probably skip this the next time. Overall, this meal hit the spot, and I would definitely come back here if I'm craving Thai food.

My husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed the excellent company of our bartender server who gave excellent descriptions of the menu items ...making our mouth water before we even ordered our dinner. We ordered the risotto, fresh catch (marlin), crispy rice, gnocchi, and finished off with the mac nut ganache mascarpone pots de crème. We did share a Lemon peel lemonade cocktail. The Lemon peel lemonade was basically spiked lemonade. Well balanced for being a tart oriented drink, but I didn't care for the floating bits. The risotto which comes in full and half order, was very rich and had chunks of mushrooms for flavor. We're glad we got the half as this was a heavy, rich, and cheesy entrée on its own. If you love risotto, you will love this dish. The marlin was perfectly cooked and balanced out with a locally inspired vegetable succotash. Fried bits of kalo were also added in for added texture. The special and new item, the gnocchi was the star of the show. This is by far the fluffiest gnocchi we've ever had. Crispy on the outside, little potato clouds of fluff on the inside. The gnocchi came over a tasty sauce with bits of fried onion for absolute perfection. The crisp rice was recommended by Yelpers and it was alright, crispy rice with a spoon of poke. Not bad, but did not live up to the hype. Get another order of the gnocchi instead. It's fairly rare to see pots de crème on restaurant menus, specials or not, so we had to get this. It came in a cute little glass jar, with rich chocolate and mascarpone flavor with a hint of mac nut. This desert was an absolutely delicious perfect end to the meal. You can make reservations online, street parking is quite limited, and it can get busy as the night goes on, so recommended to get an earlier dinning time. Staffs regularly checked in on us and were polite and efficient.

It was very hot inside without AC, which was unfortunate, but otherwise it was not bad. The noodle soup had great flavor, good comfort food. The chicken was a bit tough and dry though. The green curry had excellent flavor. The prices are pretty low (plates around or under $15)! Service was excellent, they were very quick and attentive. I chose to enjoy a meal at a place that's tied with deep sentimental value. Where stories were shared, memories were created with my late grandmother. This was her favorite Thai restaurant when I was a kid. A bit smaller than their original location but still offering a feeling of nostalgia. It used to be located on Mamo Street known as Royal Siam Thai Restaurant. A name change happened years later to Hilo Siam Thai Restaurant, when a brother and wife duo from the same family took over. It's still located in historic Downtown Hilo, now on Furneaux Lane. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The ambiance is simple. Intimate and casual yet comfortable. The high ceiling drew my eyes upward creating the illusion of grand volume in a small space. Would softer lighting and decorative elements elevate the prevailing feeling or tone, adding a stylish touch in dramatic fashion I thought? As I sat down on one of three tables, the ocean breeze gently whisked through the front door. Delightful. Friendly and attentive service from start to finish from the owner who took my order. As he diligently managed multiple takeouts phoning-in and picking-up on both visits. Ice cubes in our water would've been nice yet, glasses were constantly refilled and never left empty. It felt like I was dining in someone's home with the kitchen nearby just steps away. The husband + wife team were at the helm of every menu item I ordered, as I peeked into the kitchen from an outside jalousie window. Here, food is their main focus and they delivered well beyond my expectations. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "Green Papaya Salad" Vibrant and crunchy from shredded green papaya, julienne of carrots + tiny pieces of chopped peanuts. Complex and refreshing yet with minimal heat coming through. I have to appreciate the labor involved, shredding each papaya by hand for one order. The sauce, a harmonized balance of sweet, sour and tangy notes. $10.95 as of March 2026. "Eggplant w/ Sweet Basil & Pork" "Basil Beef w/ Bell Peppers" Distinct flavor layering, extremely fragrant. I enjoyed the scent first, then allowed the flavors to pop as a result of fresh basil. A savory sauce coats an ample amount of finely sliced pork and pieces of tender eggplant on one dish, beef with bell peppers (no round + green onions request) on the other. This one played with my senses. Bold aromatics. $13.95 as of March 2026. "Yellow Curry with Beef" Herbaceous and earthy notes without the spicy elements. Aromatic with generous amounts of sliced beef only paired with potatoes. A premium feel. Hearty, warm and rich as the spices of the curry come through vibrantly. $13.95 as of March 2026. "Buddha Rama with Chicken" The defining element, a rich and savory peanut sauce. Creamy and complex with a handful of underlying flavors. Highly irresistible, extremely addicting. Tender pieces of chicken and spinach, with chopped peanuts adding a delightful crunch to each spoon-full. A distinct flavor profile. This one was grandma's favorite, it's now mine. $13.95 as of March 2026. Order a bowl of fragrant steamed Jasmine rice on the side and Pad Thai Noodles with your choice of protein like me. Compliment your meal with a glass of Thai Iced Tea topped with sweet condensed milk as well. Don't forget to order your spice level. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Culinary execution with care, delicious flavors from exotic spices and ingredients. Keeping operational costs to a minimum, allowing Hilo Siam Thai Restaurant to price menu items lower than others in-town while offering generous portions. A cozy, homey setting with close and friendly service. Discover the time to find parking and enjoy lunch + dinner at specific times throughout the week like I did. Dine-in or call-in your order for takeout. Hilo Siam Thai Restaurant, a hole-in-a-wall worth finding. A delicious hidden gem, uniqueness in a tucked-away setting.
