We are very excited to try this place and walked the half a mile from our cabin. We had seen some mention of pastries on Yelp and they looked really good. We wanted to get there early before they ran out. We arrived around 7:15 AM and did not see any pastries on display. We asked about them and were told that they would have some plain croissants available around 9 AM. We ordered a Stumptown pour over and a mocha and walked back to the cabin. Stumptown is a good coffee, but we were surprised that they only had one bean option for the pour over. The mocha was delicious. We ended up walking into town to get a pastries to go with our coffee. We always like to get a sweet treat to go with our coffee so if others like that, you might want to call ahead to see if they have anything available. There's no seating inside but plenty of outdoor seating. The café next-door has permanently closed. read more

The food is here really good. We were both pretty satisfied with our meal but I do wish the sausage was a little bit better. Customer service is great if you are a regular! In fact, if you are a regular then you will create lines behind you because the server will talk your ear off and ignore the other customers for 10 minutes straight. Also, if you order a 16 oz drink, you will receive a 12 oz drink ( which if you check the bottom of the cup is actually a 10 oz cup ). Don't forget to order boba so they can make your drink have more ice and boba than tea! Oooh, they also don't have straws wide enough for the boba balls, so they clog your straw repeatedly. How considerate! Lastly, if they ask if you want whole milk, they are really apparently asking if you want half and half. I had no idea they were the same thing! In all seriousness though, the only good part of this experience was that I paid money and received a drink. Literally everything else seems to have went off the rails... Please stay away. read more

I was on my way out of town after checking out of my air BNB which was just around the corner from this cafe. The menu looked vegan friendly, so I popped in for breakfast... If I had discovered the strawberry matcha sooner than my departure day, I would have had *at least one every day of my trip, ha! So delicious. For food I enjoyed their vegan burrito as a bowl because I can't do gluten, and it was good. I did need more Cholula than I generally would add, the tofu scramble was under seasoned, and when I added the impossible patty my brain was expecting the sausage, not the burger patty, so I should have clarified that while ordering. So in all it was not my favorite meal ever, but I'm grateful they had the vegan option and I would try it again knowing better what to expect. Service was great, super friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. I love feeling appreciated as a guest of an establishment. I absolutely love this cafe! This adorable coffee shop was within an easy walk from the cabin I was staying at for the weekend. It's situated right off the highway, but there is also plenty of parking in the lot and in front of the school. It's attached to the Mile High Cafe, which was always very busy. They are pet friendly and happily let my pups come inside with me to order my drink. The inside area is small and there's no room to sit, so you need to take it to go or drink on the attached deck. I got the oat milk latte with homemade brown sugar syrup and it was delicious. I would definitely get it again. Due to the current Covid cup shortage, all drinks are served in a large cup. The patio had plenty of seating options and on this particular Sunday afternoon no one else was on the patio. It was just me and my pups. The patio is surrounded by pine trees and is a quintessential mountain cafe with delicious coffee. I look forward to coming back here! read more

FINALLY! I've been wanting to come to this coffee shop for a while now...admittedly just because of the name (I love alpacas). But I must say I wasn't disappointed! They have a reasonably sized menu, and plenty of interesting options to choose from, of which we chose the Matcha Strawberry Milk Tea and the Chagaccino which is a coffee made with mushrooms! Neither of us were disappointed with our orders. The Matcha was creamy and delicious with a noticeable strawberry flavor, and the coffee was rich and tasty - I couldn't tell there was mushroom in it, but I imagine it was the reason the coffee really stood out. Just keep in mind that it's more of a small area, not a full sit down Cafe - although there is plenty of outdoor sitting. I have been coming to Idyllwild for 10 years and always go to the coffee shop in town. I noticed this place and wanted to try something new. I was so happy I did. I had the best vanilla latte I have ever had!! My mom got the Nutella latte and absolutely loved it. The service was great, employees offered suggestions to make our experience better. We also tried the pancakes, French toast, bacon and hash browns and loved the food as much as the coffee. We went make every morning of our trip. I cannot wait to go back! Alpaca is a cute shop that was in walking distance of where we were staying. They are SUPER friendly inside and the smell (even tho we weren't able to enjoy) was so warm and comforting. They have plant milk and most of their syrups are vegan friendly. We ordered one hazelnut oat latte with cinnamon and one vanilla oat latte. The cups that the latte's come in are huge, leaving the drink with more milk than desired, personally. Not a huge issue, we ordered an extra shot in the next order. The seats are outside which is nice. it's covered AND they have a couple of those misting fans, which was nice since it was warm out. Once you place your order, you wait outside and once your drinks are done, they bring it outside to you. My rule of thumb for visiting a new coffee shop is, order an iced latte. I feel you will be able to judge their beans, syrups, and milk to coffee ratio. I always feel like you can't really mess up an iced latte like you could a hot one. Alpaca knows what they're doing. My boyfriend and I were in Idyllwild for a couple days and wanted to try this seemingly random boba shop in the mountains. He is from 626/SGV and I am from Cupertino/Bay Area and we always get boba in those areas (for sake of boba credibility bahhaa) :P Alpaca exceeded our expectations. It is a bit expensive, but it was worth it to support an ASAM small business in Idyllwild. Grace took our order and was extremely hospitable; great service isn't even a question here. They take COVID seriously; you order inside (masks worn properly by all staff) and then wait outdoors for your drink, which you're handed through a pick-up window. Grace recommended the strawberry matcha latte to be served with whole milk (dairy drinkers) or oat milk (non-dairy drinkers) for best taste. The jasmine milk tea was fragrant -- you can taste the jasmine flower in the drink. Bonus -- you can order milk/mylk alternatives for no additional cost. Boba was cooked perfectly. Slightly warm, great consistency, coated in a great balance of brown sugar. Their Nutella babkas sold out when we went (around 2 PM), so be sure to get there a bit earlier if you want to try. I make a lot of lattes at home with my breville. Nothing i can make comes close to the unique flavors here. It's sort of a cross between nice boba flavors and coffee. They've also got a nice "Spanish latte" which includes a bit of condensed milk, Vietnamese style. You can also get the regular classics as well. They do americanos, flat whites, etc. Very nice shop. After a not so great experience at another Cafe in town, was so happy to stop here this morning for coffee and matcha. My Spanish latte was amazing! Very cute and tasty! We stopped by for Americanos. The service was very friendly- - when we walked in the server was singing, and it seemed like such a fun and welcoming atmosphere! The coffee was good - I believe they use stumptown- but not AMAZING. I added lavender syrup to mine and was disappointed that it was just a pump bottle of sweetened syrup like you can get at Costco - not homemade or like genuine lavender syrup. This cafe is relatively cheap, and the staff is very friendly. I ordered a strawberry milk for $3.75, and it came out very fast. There's free wifi, it's very quiet, and a big dining room shared with the business next door. The only downside is this place closes early at 5pm, but they are open early in the morning at 6:30am.
