Adjacent to the Alpaca Kitchen, Alpaca coffee and Tea serves a large menu of coffee and tea. My wife had an ice coffee with almond milk which she really liked . I had the cherry blossom iced tea, which was very light and flavorful (no sugar needed). They also have breakfast burritos all day, if hunger strikes! Some times gets very busy, but the wait wasn't too bad, especially since we were in vacay and not in a hurry. :-) Nice outdoor seating. Recommended! read more

I was camping in Idyllwild and this place hit the spot the entire weekend! The Chagaccino.... so so so good! The best coffee/ cappuccino I've ever had. I also had the vegan breakfast burrito which was fantastic! The first day I ordered it, it was the perfect mix of tofu scramble (which was surprisingly better than my tofu scramble!) and beans. However, the second day I ordered it, the burrito had less scramble and way too many beans. I don't know if the chef was different on my second visit, but something was different. Next time I go, I'll be sure to ask for more tofu than beans. Other than that- the service is super friendly and the space is inviting, inside and out! Can't wait for my next visit! read more

Enjoyed this place while up in Idyllwild. It's a very small shop connected to a larger restaurant / cafe. I found it interesting that they had boba up in Idyllwild so decided to try it. I ordered the iced matcha with boba and thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a large outdoor patio with plenty of seating. I would definitely come hear again if I was in the area. I love how conveniently located this place is. I drove medical transportation for a while and this was my "pit stop" every morning. They even remembered me after just a few visits and had my coffee ready as I was walking in the front door. Came in for hot cocoa after playing in the snow and was really upset to hear that they were out of chocolate. Then attempted to order a drip coffee only To be told they were out of that also. Everything seems great (like the coffee) except the location is right on the highway. Environmentally friendly and no huge line. Lots of cars but not many people. Drove up to Idy for a snow day/day trip from OC. After a few hours of sledding & building snowmen the kids wanted to end the trip with a treat. My son went to the local candy store & my daughter to the creamery for a scoop of ice cream. Hub asked if I wanted a treat... "Why yes, I would!" I asked in the candy store if the bakery/coffee shop across way was still open since it was late afternoon... the young gal said yes, and then the owner popped her head out & advised me to drive a tiny bit further to check out Alpaca coffee. It was on our way out anyway and the bakery shop in main circle of Idy didn't have the best coffee but I figured I'd settle for mediocrity. So glad I didn't settle. Folks, don't settle!! Go to Alpaca coffee! I had the hazelnut latte and got the Spanish latte for my hub. They do have non-dairy milk options which I was excited about (yay for almond milk!) Delish drinks and I liked the atmosphere... local art on the walls and adorable print cards by local artist (totally bought one). Also nabbed an everything bagel for home later & was not disappointed. Yummers! Tasted like a bialy. So good. Appears there is a restaurant attached which I'd love to try next time around. I can make this review very long by describing detail by detail what happened but I honestly don't want to rant. I was really looking forward to this place as it seemed they had a lot of tasty options and I needed a pick me up. I will just say that the young lady working behind the counter and the gentleman back there with her, gave off the worst vibe. They were not only unfriendly but rude. They made me feel like I was an annoyance and inconvenience by asking questions and being there. It was a very unwelcoming atmosphere. Not only that, but the almost $7 lavender milk tea I purchased was disappointing. Definitely not worth the cost and for the size. Great coffee option in town! They use Stumptown coffee. The honey lavender latte and mocha latte were pretty good. It was smooth and had the perfect amount of sweetness. We came for a second time during our stay in Idyllwild. We would've loved to try their pastries, but it wasn't available both times we visited. read more

Nationwide boba shortage! As of 7/13/21 there is no boba. I got the strawberry matcha which at $8 without boba was quite pricey but it was good (once mixed - make sure to mix before drinking!) but a bit too sweet (even with almond milk). This is a very small spot attached to the Mile High Cafe. I was expecting there to be a bit "more" to it but it's really just a grab and go spot. The cold brew is just Stumptown (I also expected there to be something locally brewed or at least a bit more interesting). read more

Coffee and boba is really mid. I ordered a latte and my sister ordered a milk tea. She had to throw hers out because it had clumps in it.

I love the coffee beans they use and have a lot of good quality stuff. I don't think they know how to layer coffee. It's syrup, espresso (mix syrup with espresso) then ice the milk. Usually not everywhere does that but I work as a barista and bouje California coffee shops for 7 years and each one taught me that. Otherwise putting syrup on top is too sweet and tastes off and doesn't mix well. Also highly recommend two shots for 16 oz not one. If the machine pulls two shots anyways then just put two shots. Again too sweet unless you're trying to be like Starbucks but y'all seem too bouje to be Starbucks. If you're focusing on quality of lattes and espresso than highly recommend mixing syrup and espresso first and two shots of espresso. Idk not my company but y'all doing great otherwise. While visiting Idyllwild, I stopped in to a coffee shop, seemingly where the tourists go, called Higher Grounds. It depends how you like your coffee but my preference is an oat milk latte, unsweetened. In my experience, most of the good boutique-ey coffee shops carry this. My latte was way too sweet so I tossed it. I took a couple of locals' advice and walked just under a mile to Alpaca coffee and tea. This was the real deal. Owned and operated by a great young couple. It's attached to a restaurant that is owned and operated by their relatives. If you like really good coffee, think Seattle, Portland..., this is your place. I highly recommend it and it has a large parking area and excellent outdoor seating. read more

I always say I'm going to write a Yelp review but never have but I couldn't pass up giving a review for this cute little coffee shop. It is so hard to find good espresso and matcha at the same place but this place does it all. This is my second time getting it on my way out of visiting Idyllwild. I got the honey lavender latte with oat milk and a match milk tea with boba and oat milk. They both were to die for and the owners are so nice! They have a cool outdoor patio as well and don't let me forget to mention their morning pastry, wow! Sooo delicious! I will definitely be back. My friend and I are in Idyllwild for a few days, and we came across this place. I was not expecting to find a boba place in the mountains, and even better a place with milk alternatives! I got a strawberry matcha latte with soy milk and boba. My friend got a hot coffee. We both really enjoyed our drinks. The boba was freshly made and perfectly sweet. The strawberry flavor was layered on top of the boba and it was so good! The staff were friendly and were able to answer our questions easily. As a vegan, I appreciated that they have a lot of milk alternatives - oat milk, soy milk, coconut, and even different milks for folks who do consume dairy - 2% and nonfat. The COVID precautions were good - you order inside (masks required of course!) And there is hand sanitizer provided. Then you wait outside in your car and the staff bring your drinks to you. It was very fast and convenient for us! We went back again at night, and I got a regular matcha latte with soy and my friend got a lavender milk tea - also really good!! Twice I've come for solid drip coffee and have been satisfied. Stumptown beans are nice, they carry a medium roast at one size fits all for your ounces. The owners are very kind and obviously caring and hard working. I was pleased to know they make their baked goods from scratch, though skeptical at the price point at first --$6 for a cinnamon roll or bun. I must say, I'll swallow my frugality for them, the Blood Orange Lemon glazed roll I bought today was DELICIOUS and GORGEOUS, pairing perfectly with my black coffee. Raven the person behind the counter was the rudest person in Idyllwild that I have ever encountered after coming here for 40 years . I asked for Matcha green tea iced she said do you want Jasmine? I said no no thanks hon just I would like Matcha green tea iced she said do you want milk with that? I said no hon I just want Matcha green tea w ice , then she said with ice? I felt like there was some miscommunication but what was upsetting was the eye rolling, not bad enough that she could not understand what I wanted to order but the attitude and the rude tone and then she took the people after me n line , she made their drinks 1st, the finally she made mine but but mine was sitting there and she wouldn't give it to me while she made a whole bunch of other peoples drinks who were after me and I said, hon is, is that my tea because we need to go and she's like well I'm busy, anyway that person should not be working with the public.
