Alpaca coffee is rated the best coffee shop in town and I can see why! Entering the cafe you are immediately overwhelmed with the delicious smell of cinnamon rolls and baked goods. We had to try one of the cookies because it smelled amazing and lived up to expectations. We also got a matcha latte and thai tea. Both were pretty good! I was impressed by the high quality matcha powder. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Tried the Spanish Latte this time around. Tastes like an average spanish latte, pretty good. Service is good and the drink came out quickly. Small cafe shares a wall with a diner.

Came in today and gave them a try. It's a nice little shop. A little crammed by the door way with people coming in and going out. It was tied into another restaurant. Service was good and very quick. I got the cold brew with a touch of half and half, overall it was good. It was just a tad bitter but it was still good. About a cold brew flavor as any other I have tried. So nothing to knock against it but if you like a good cup of cold brew definitely get it here. Nothing stood out as anything special to me but just a good cup of cold brew.

This charming coffee place ended up being one of our faves during our stay in Idyllwild. It's just a quick 4 minute walk from our Airbnb, which made it dangerously convenient and yes, we came back more than once! The space is pretty small just a couple of tables and a few seats so don't expect to lounge around for hours. They keep it simple here with coffee and tea only but they sure do it well! Everything we tried was delicious. We originally wanted to sit down for breakfast, and luckily they share a space with Mile High Cafe next door. Just a heads up even though they're connected, they're technically separate businesses so you can't just grab coffee and sit anywhere on the restaurant side unless you're ordering from them too. That said, the convenience alone makes this place a win, and the quality keeps you coming back. If you're in Idyllwild, definitely swing by and check them out!

Best coffee I've had in idyllwild! Delicious and worth the little drive. Far superior to what's in town! Nutella: sweet chocolatey and amazing Mocha: hint of chocolate and delicious Can't recommend enough

A quick stop at a coffee and tea place. Got honey lavender match and dirty chai for hubby. Cute little place in Idyllwild near Mountain Center

Did not expect to find such amazing matcha in the mountains but Alpaca Coffee was a wonderful surprise! Location is small but the service is friendly and all of the coffee and teas are high quality. Love that they advertise the health benefits of some drinks and you can tell that there was time and effort put into curating their drink options!

    Spanish latte

Really cute coffee shop attached to a little restaurant on the other side. Ordered a Spanish latte which I've never had before and I really liked it. Workers were nice as well and knew a lot of people by name which was cool to see. I would come back to try more!

Excellent service, coffee and experience. We are thinking of coming back for breakfast or lunch. Easy, relaxed ambiance. Perfect start to our morning.

The Airbnb that my friend & I were staying at suggested this place for great coffee & tea. So after our check out we headed straight to Alpaca Coffee & Tea! We each ordered their iced dirty chai tea with Oatmilk! We took it to go and boy was it tasty!!! The extra shots of expresso were a delicious combination with the chai tea! It really lifted our day. I will be back on my next trip to Idyllwild.

Iced caramel latte Iced vanilla latte with oatmilk and sweet foam!

I absolutely adore this place!! I've gone the few times to go visit family and have mentioned them to everyone! Not only are the bakery items amazing, the service and staff and the sweetest people ever. I've had a vanilla latte there with oat milk, iced caramel latte, the strawberry matcha, and the banana matcha and all have been delicious! Also put sweet foam on a few which was an excellent suggestion by the workers! Ambiance is so cute too with there little alpacas everywhere and don't forget to purchase stickers!

Super cute coffee and tea shop! We came by during covid when they were still building this coffee shop and since then we always managed to stop by whenever we came up to Idyllwild! First dine with Mile High then after tea/coffee and goodies at Alpaca! Service was always friendly and prompt. I got the Jasmine milk tea with boba recently and the tea was very fragrant and strong. I asked for less sweet and it was just perfect! I added boba and it was pretty chewy and soft! Very great quality for a mountain milk tea shop! I can't write enough great things about this place! You just gotta stop by and experience it for yourself! Plenty of parking and indoor/outdoor seatings! Well mostly outdoor, inside is standup bar. They have many cute goodies for sale and they also serve chaga! Please come support them!!

BEST STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE OF MY LIFE. So good we came here twice during our weekend in Idyllwild. After seeing the 5 stars on Yelp for a boba spot, I had to come. I got the strawberry matcha latte and my life changed. The strawberry purree was delicious!! It balanced so well with the matcha. You could taste how fresh the strawberries were and the drink itself wasn't too sweet either. Seriously, so amazing to find such a hidden gem in Idyllwild. Come to LA please!!

Coffee and boba is really mid. I ordered a latte and my sister ordered a milk tea. She had to throw hers out because it had clumps in it.

In September 2025 they moved across the street from their old location (I got lost finding the new shop!). To save you time finding it, it's tucked behind The Owl Pine Shop, which is to the southwest (left) of the Speakeasy Bookmarket and Raven Hill Bagels/Collective. If you're driving up North Circle Drive towards Humber Park, it's on the left, across the street from the record shop past Nomad Ventures. I'm not exactly sure where you're supposed to park, but I parked on the street. They have these nice aluminum cups and will discount future drinks if you bring it back (my cup is a few years old and looking great). The coffee is really phenomenal -- I only drink black coffee. My iced coffee was massive and $5 with the discount for the reusable cup. They offer beans too (didn't see the price) and they have these fancy dark chocolate bars that probably would pair well with a coffee. Staff is always friendly!

The highlight of my last trip to Idyllwild was enjoying a Vietnam light roast in this serene little space. You can buy freshly roasted bags to take home. Incredible. The only vegan option available during our visit was a chocolate cake donut with chocolate icing. It reminded me of a basic homemade vegan donut recipe, perfectly edible, but nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for. We also tried an old-fashioned donut and a buttermilk donut. Unfortunately, both were noticeably dry and lacked the flavor and freshness we were hoping for. Before leaving, we picked up a pie to enjoy later, but it was also quite dry and tasted as though it had been sitting for a while. Overall, this was a disappointing experience, especially considering the reputation of the shop. Everyone's tastes are different, but based on our visit, it's not a place we'd return to.

Anytime we make a day trip up to Idyllwild, this place is always a definite favorite. Summer in the mountains with ice cream dripping down your hands. The good old days when you were younger but now it's in a cup...lol... Messy and sticky fingers hits differently these days when you're older. Saturday afternoon and there was a line at this place. Good for them and thats usually a good sign whenever you go somewhere. We've been a few times and each has been great. It's a little ice cream shop along the main strip of town. Their downtown area where all the restaurants, shops, wineries and so on. Always a line when we come but it does move fast. The menus on the front counter wall so you can check it out before you get to the front. After you order, there's a pager that's given to you. Pick up is around the side when your pager goes off. It's not a big ice cream parlor, with 2 small tables and chair in-front of the ordering counter and a couple of bigger tables on the side of the building. We went with the sampler tray I believe it's called. Four different flavors in individual cups for 12.00. It was a little wait as it seemed like there was only one worker on deck. She was taking orders and scooping the ice cream. The other person could be on break or lunch. Anyways, it was ok. The four flavors were quite nice but one was just ok. Our least favorite, the coconut which was an additional 1.00 added to the order. The others three was excellent. Of course I would forget the all the flavors but remember the one we didn't like. Ice cream was great, the one we enjoyed. It was nice to just have a seat and enjoy the treat. Everyone that was there was doing the same, enjoying their treats. It's like a staple here in the mountain. I didn't know if there's any other ice cream shop in town but this one is worth it and alway a must for us when in town. Until next time.
