Alpen Spritz and the schnitzel (with the fondue in the background)

I had two Alpen Spritzes bc they were AMAZING. The presentation of all the food and drinks was beautiful, and the whole restaurant (especially the patio) was super cute. For food, I ordered the schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was good, and I loved that it came with a creamy sauce and lingonberries, which were delicious. The spätzle on the side wasn't my favorite. We also started with the pretzel and the cheese fondue. The cheese fondue was delicious, but I wasn't a fan of the mustard that came with the pretzel (maybe I'm just picky tho).

Excellent service and quaint cozy food and presentation. The food and drinks are always delicious and I dare you to resist the dessert case!

I love a cute experience, and alpenrose vail delivered! Our server was so adorable and accommodating. We did the cheese fondue option and added steak. The meat was super fresh and tender. Nothing comes preseasoned so we did ask for salt and pepper to doctor it up as much as possible. But overall we enjoyed. A round of birthday shots and cake was brought out at the end as a cute cherry on top. I definitely recommend checking them out if in Vail.

Seems like we look for these types of places in our ski trips, and this joint looked the part. Promptly seated at a nice table in the quaint and authentically decorated chalet dining room and opted for a German imported brew, which I liked and had several others too! Pretzel was a bit dough-ey for my liking but the cheese & mustard were nice compliments. Schnitzel was large with a crusty coating that held up to the condiments. Couldn't choose from all the desert options so we went with a couple... there was a berry torte that was a bit dry and lacked sweetness. The strudel was nice and came with a vanilla creme sauce that complimented it well. Ambiance was hunting chalet chic, prices are in line with the locale, and service was friendly, prompt, and helpful!

I always make sure to order pretzel whenever a restaurant offers it. So far, NBC restaurant in Universal City Walk is one of top 3 that makes good pretzel. Alpenrose isn't too bad. It is a pity that they charge $4 each for dipping sauce. I would've not minded if it was $2 but $4? The place has ample seating and fairly spacious. Didn't order Winter Curry, I had a bit of it from friend's - it was unique taste. If you are looking for a fun shopping experience where a Germany restaurant is nearby in Colorado, give Alpenrose a try.

Alpenrose is a must while in Vail. Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekends. The ambiance, food, and presentation are so fun! Plenty of choices when it comes to food so they have something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable, and the service is always super friendly and accommodating.

Adore Alpenrose!! It's like grandma chic to the max with great food and really attentive and friendly service. Also, the food is pretty epic. It's seriously putting the German food to shame where I live (and I thought we had some pretty good options!) We had the: *TRÜFFEL BRATWURST (Pair of delicious Truffle Bratwurst with red cabbage, mashed potatoes and mustard) - Delicious! Great flavor but not overpowering (like how truffle oil can sometimes be!) I really enjoyed their version of red cabbage too. *OKTOBERFEST HAX'N (Crispy Pork shank with fresh baked German pretzel, mustard and Obazda cheese) - this was SO good. So flavorful and juicy. It also came with a FULL SIZE german pretzel, it was awesome. *APFELSTRUDEL (Traditional German apple strudel served with vanilla sauce) - Oh jeez, best apfelstrudel I've had in my life! To note, I haven't been to Germany but my husband's German family makes some pretty solid versions but this was pretty perfect.

The German flair is prevalent throughout Vail but it especially rules at the Alpenrose. Being German, I am very particular about all things Bavarian. I decided on the Gulasch with Spaetzle for dinner. Aside from the expense of the meal, the experience did not disappoint. The food was good, the Radler delish, and service, supreme. Our waiter, Hannes, hailed from Austria so he was able to converse with us and to help my aunt feel comfortable. He was so much fun! Our meals arrived quickly too! Indoor seating is slim pickings but their patio works perfect for this time of year. Restrooms are in the basement and may present a slight challenge for those with mobility issues. Also, since the Alpenrose is located on the Fussgängerzone (pedestrian alley) so there is no parking close by.

Very alive space with German/Austrian feel without being hokey. The staff wear traditional German attire which adds to the overall atmosphere. The large menu gives you a chance to try "the usuals" but also presents some items that may not be as familiar. There is a small selection of German beers on tap as well as some glasses/bottles of various wines. We enjoyed the Schnitzel as well as the Octoberfest Hax'n, which was a gigantic Pork Shank. We added Potatoes Rosti, Red Cabbage and Sauerkraut as sides. Both portions were delicious as well as humongous - either one being enough for 2 people. We were too full to try their delicious looking desserts. Great place to try for an authentic German meal.

We absolutely loved this quaint little restaurant. It felt like we were in a fairytale sitting outside. Lights and flowers are streamed everywhere, oil burning lamps at the table, and hand net pillows sitting on the back of the benches. This is definitely a place where you wanna sit back and relax and enjoy your food and drink with friends and family. We actually just went for the apple strudel, which was amazing, but I can't wait to go back and try something on their dinner menu

We stopped by after walking the beautiful Betty Ford Alpine Garden. We ordered beers and Brat Bites with Curry sauce. Food was great! Service was first class friendly, knowledgeable, and timely. Great people watching from the patio!!

First Time Here The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone, including the kids. SIT: Patio on a nice day is probably the best place to sit. Inside was a little warm during the summer at 6 pm. DRANKS: Beer good but pass on the wine. FOOD: Pretzel is always a crowd/kid pleaser Schnitzel was good Brats was good Schweizer was ok Overall, it was good dinner and the ambiance and service was great.

Adorable Alpine-themed restaurant in the heart of Vail Village where you're seated at long wooden benches among rustic decor. Ice cold beers are served in heavy ceramic steins or glass mugs. Cheese fondue with torn brown bread to start. Gnocchi was hearty and light. Truffled sausages were paired perfectly buttery mashed potatoes and stewed cabbage and beets. Apple strudel was dry but a must try for the sake of ambience.

Fingerling potatoes, radish slices, gherkins, grapes, grape tomatoes that came with the raclette board. 3 spinach dumplings

I tried the porcini mushroom soup with truffle dumplings and all of it was delicious and savory and warm, and even served with a delightful carnation on the side! For the main course I tried the pork shank (Schweinsaxon?) and the meat was fall off the bone good. The mashed potatoes were tasty but the sauerkraut was truly phenomenal. It's not a bargain meal, but it's not nearly as expensive as it could be, being tucked into Vail and visited by a very wealthy cadre of visitors. The service was also great. I commented on one of the waitstaff's steampunk goggles and he asked if I wanted to try them on for a photo op. I declined, but laughed at the invitation. All our questions were answered with politeness and ease, and I was quickly taken care of when I asked to buy a slice of cake on the way out. Would love to make this an annual December visit tradition.

The amount of fondue was absolutely paltry, especially given it was supposed to serve two people and cost $80. We had a nearly full basket of bread remaining after eating all the cheese. They also provided boiled potatoes and blanched vegetables to dip in the cheese along with dried fruit but that only made the meager cheese situation worse. It was more appetizer sized and even the fondue itself was bland and lackluster with no flavors of kirsch, wine, or other seasonings. We had to go somewhere else to actually get dinner. I appreciate the waiter discounting our meal to try and make up for it. The portions of the other entrees looked good so maybe go here for those and skip the fondue.

It is not even on the website for the Basalt location yet nor is it listed as of this writing on Yelp. People, please -- go to this restaurant. It was fantastic. I would like to share my 14 year-old daughter's comments on her entree, which are probably a little over the top, but reflect how much we all enjoyed the meal. She had the chicken schnitzel. "This is the best food I have ever had in a restaurant." "This is the best chicken I have ever had -- sorry mom." "This gives a whole new meaning to the word, 'chicken.' " I had the jager schnitzel (pork) with spaetzle. Very, very good. All of the schnitzels we ordered were very tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Spaetzle was delicious. The salads were good as well. I had a "Serbian salad" which at first glance would not seem like it would be much to crow about -- mostly cucumbers -- but somehow, with the heirloom tomatoes and dressing they used, also exceptionally good. Finally, we had the apple strudel. I've never met a strudel that I didn't like, but my wife, who is a bit more discriminating, thought it was one of the best she'd had -- light, buttery, not too heavy. My daughter does not like raisins or nuts in desserts. She said it was so good she didn't care that it had the two things she likes least in desserts in it. A couple of other comments. First, when you think German or Austrian food, you think "heavy." This food was not. It was delicious and satisfying but not heavy at all. Second, for the area, the prices are pretty good. $150 for three people with a la carte salads, entrees, and dessert. The service was great -- very prompt, very attentive, pleasant, but not overdoing. Ambience was nice, except for the fact that it was a little empty, which is a shame that must be rectified by diners in the area reading this review as soon as possible. Finally, not drinking these days, but the beer and wine menus looked pretty darned good. (Which I guess you would expect in a good Austrian restaurant, but at least you know they checked that box as well). Simple, perfectly executed menu, family friendly, not too expensive, light and satisfying Austrian food. Go.
