If you need a diagnosis, repair or new unit call Alpha Mechanical. They are honest, highly skilled and their prices are reasonable. Our AC was running but was hovering between 80° and 84°. We feared it would break down in the middle of a heat wave. We called a local AC business to come out for a diagnosis. The tech went up on the roof with only a screwdriver. Two minutes later he was showing us photos of the inside of our unit. He quoted over $3000 to fix it and recommended Replacing it for over $11,000. He pointed out the rusty water in the bottom of the pan and said the coils were damaged and needed to be replaced. He charged us $89 for the diagnosis. We called Alpha Mechanical for a second opinion. Andre answered the phone, I told him our problem and where we lived. He said we were just outside of his area but he would come anyway. He was extremely busy but he said he would call before arriving. He called and arrived exactly when he said he would. He went up on the roof carrying test equipment. He said our Freon was slightly low. He then measured the temperature of the airflow inside the house, both input and output. There was only a 4° difference and he said it should be a 16° difference. Andre checked our ductwork in the attic and everything was fine. He asked us a few questions regarding our AC unit and it's performance last year. He checked the compressor and found it was running properly. He took a couple of pictures, showed them to us and said everything looks fine. His pictures looked just like the local AC companies pictures. There was some rusty water in the bottom of the pan but he said that's typical and not to worry because the pan is made of plastic and will not corrode through. He also said the coils look fine. Andre quoted us $420 to recharge the Freon. He was honest and said he couldn't guarantee how long it would last because the leak was so small it could not be detected. He said we might need to recharge the Freon again next year. In his opinion we did not need to replace our AC unit at this time. Just out of curiosity we asked him how much he would charge, approximately, for a new unit if we were to replace it. His figure was much less than the local AC company. We decided to have André recharge the Freon which he did on the spot. He again measured the airflow input and output. It was now a 16° difference, just as it should be. His performance was impressive and endearing to see how happy it made him when he took that last measurement that confirmed he fixed the problem. Obviously Andre takes great pride in his work. Needless to say, when it is time to replace our AC unit or repair it we will be choosing Alpha Mechanical and Andre. read more

This is the second time we have used Alpha Mechanical. We bought a home in March and wanted to have our AC unit evaluated since it is 20+ years old. At first we used a company located in Rocklin, where we live, because they were nearby and had good reviews. We were not happy with their approach, so I called Andre with Alpha Mechanical for another opinion, since we had been really happy with his service for our HVAC system in our previous home. He was able to come over to take a look the same day as I called! My husband and I felt much better after having Andre take a look at our system. After my second floor air conditioning fan seized up, I was told by a larger company in the area that repair of the fan was was too costly and not worth it due to it being 19 yeas old A sales person then told me that their moderate priced package of fan, furnace and thermostat would cost $16,500. I felt like this was excessive and decided to get a second opinion. I decide to call A[pha Mechanical for the second opinion and Andrey immediately called me back and came out right away. He quickly found that all that was needed was a replacement of the motor and a small amount of freon, He felt that this would work fine and keep the unit going for at least a couple more years. David came out later the same day and did a great and efficient job of making the repairs and was very professional and friendly in his work.The total cost came to $840.00 and the system is working great. Anyone who has ever had their AC unit fail during the hottest temperatures of the year, know how important air conditioning is. This is the second time my AC unit has stopped working and both times, Andre has come to our rescue in an extremely timely manner. I've called around the area looking for assistance from practically everyone online in the area. No one had time to assist me right away due to my far location and timeliness. Had Alpha Mechanical come in to evaluate my nine year old ac unit due to a loud banging sound as it turned off. Alpha Mechanical was brought in for a second opinion after another company deemed the compressor compromised and advised the entire HVAC system should be replaced at an estimated cost of $13k-$14k. This was after that same company came in to do the annual maintenance work the previous month and declared the unit to be in fine shape. David with Alpha Mechanical came in, ran a couple of efficiency tests and found the unit to be working well within its range and there was no need to replace it, the banging sound when the system was turning off was a normal occurrence when a system is being operated in extreme weather (like we were having, high 90's and low 100's). That being said, Alpha Mechanical ended up saving us from having to install a new HVAC system and the costs involved. Found Alpha Mechanical to be extremely knowledgeable, professional and ethical. When I started to think about replacing my old furnace and air conditioner, I had to start from scratch in figuring out how to do it. I found Consumer Reports articles on-line that told me which brands are the most reliable, and from that I chose Trane. I wanted to use a Trane installer because they can get factory discounts that would keep the price down. I wanted to have the work done at a non-peak time of the year, also to keep the price down. And I wanted to find a good company to provide the equipment and install it professionally, and I used Yelp to avoid companies that received a lot of one-star ratings. Alpha has an excellent Yelp rating and I'm glad I found them. They were the low bidder, of course. When I told the next-to-low bidder that he wasn't going to get the job because I found a lower price, he said: "Then, there must be something wrong." He was sure that no company could underbid him. I had a very positive experience with the HVAC technician. He was polite courteous and very respectful of our household. I had called around 1 PM, and by 5 PM there was a knock at my door with a specialist ready to get to work. Within 15 minutes the problem was both diagnosed and on its way to resolution. At 5:45 the AC went from completely non-DIY-YouTube-fixable to blowing cold. Not only was the problem clearly explained, the issue was quickly diagnosed. Our HVAC has stopped working on us right in the middle of the summer at most hot weather of the entire season. We had received the most high-jacked quotes ever (15-28k) from about 7 different companies to replace the system as ours was really old (over 15 years) and we did not want to put a temporary patch as eventually had to replace the system anyway. Alpha Mechanical has provided us a relieve giving us the most adequate, I would even say, humane quote (the system needed for our small house). As we has baby twins, who really suffered in the unbearable heat, Andrey went above and beyond giving us even the portable AC unit while we had to wait for the HVAC unit for a couple of days to arrive form a different location. Our roof top heat pump (Heating and AC system) at our commercial building stopped working, Alpha Mechanical came out and diagnosed it. It was an older, less efficient unit, they gave us a choice to repair or replace it. We decided to replace it. We did the deposit over the web and it was simple, they got the unit and showed up at the building with a crane in a couple of days. The who change took about an hour and the system was up and running again. We did check with two other "big" commercial HVAC contractors and they were literally twice as much, we saved thousands, and it was easy and fast, plus they were exceptionally nice and easy to work with. If we have a need again, we will call them. I have already referred them to a friend who does commercial real estate and he is using them now. read more

Right as the hottest week of the year (so far) started, my A/C went out. I called three other companies, none of them could fit me in for two days. Two days of no A/C in 100+ degree weather, yikes! Found Alpha Mechanical, great reviews, called, left a message. Andrey called back within 10 minutes and said he could get to me around 5 pm. That sounded good to me. He then called back a little later and said he'd be in my area within half an hour... that sounded even better! He came, he replaced my capacitor, and I now have cool air. All within an hour of my initial phone conversation with him. Doesn't get any better than that. Incredible service by Alpha Mechanical for my 12 year old Trane HVAC. After getting ripped-off by a dishonest and over-priced company from the Cal Expo home show, (see my review of Kingdom Heating and Air), I called and spoke with Andre who came out the next morning, quickly diagnosed the problem, and returned the next day with the new fan motor and made the repair ...but there was a glitch. The same problem that had caused the damage to the fan motor in the first place reoccurred. As with another review, it seems to have something to do with the new Nest thermostats. Andre came back the next morning, adjusted the gas intake and thermostat, and now it's working great. Hopefully I'll get a few more good years out of the unit, but if not I'm calling Alpha. read more

First thing I would like to say is I hate Air Conditioner Repair people in general. Rarely do you get a straight answer, its always a very expensive solution, and sometimes they outright lie to you. BUT... with Alpha Mechanical my experience was quite different. They responded when I called. They were more flexible then other companies as to payment. They gave me electronic ways of paying signing and dealing with them. They not only gave me the best price but the best service. They gave me realistic expectations and delivered on those expectations. I can not praise them enough.
