She seemed to be quite knowledgeable about the area. She understood our requirements very well and never showed us an apartment that was not a fit. Basically she values your time and filters the ones that simply won't fit. Some brokers can be pushy, Hilary gave us breathing room. When it was time to close the deal, Hilary was very pro-active in making sure everything went smoothly. I especially liked the promptness of communication. She replies to mails at 11 in the night! Working with Alpha was by far the best experience I've had with a broker or estate agent in the US or the UK. Our broker is Alexander Miller. We spent days with other brokers looking at tiny studios, out of our price range, and fulfilling none of the requirements that we'd identified. Alex showed us two places in about 15 minutes - both great deals, both beautiful, big apartments. Alex is clearly really immersed and interested in his industry, and definitely does his research as he was able to find us two great options for a steal. We snapped up the first apartment we saw with Alex in the end. Next step, having only just arrived from London, was to get all our paperwork in order so that we could move on the flat. Alex was really helpful and basically let us use his office like our own - we used spare computers and printed off stuff on Alpha's printer. He even let us use a spare phone to make arrangements with our bank for payments to be made. I was contacted my an agent named Michelle Llivizaca after putting in a request to view a property through Naked Apartments. Michelle contacted me and then instructed that her colleague Tomer, take over. After briefly messaging back & forth, Tomer and I confirmed a time to meet. I arrive outside the property , no one is there. I message Tomer letting him know I was there waiting, no response . After 20 mins I ended up leaving. Today still no follow up or explanation as to why he didn't show up . Needless to say I'm not too impressed with their service. read more

Michelle was terrible! Was originally supposed to meet at 8:45 --- didn't show up until some time after 9:20. Was greeted with the "sorry, busy day" excuse (as if we aren't all busy --- it's NYC). Before I was even allowed to go into the apartment she tried to make me sign an agreement saying I would pay a 12.5% broker fee on the place. I wasn't even allowed to see it without signing! This is the 2nd time I've used Alpha Properties, and specifically Raanan Laufer, and will never use another broker again. My roommate and I first moved in to a wing 2 bedroom on the UES last year as our first NYC apartment and Raana was so great in finding us the perfect apartment within our tight, entry level budget. This year we decided to move to the East Village and had seen apartments with other brokers that were an utter disaster. However, Raanan was so incredibly patient with us and ended up finding us the perfect apartment and was very helpful in coordinating the lease signing while both my roommate and I were travelling. He is pleasant to work with, understanding of your needs and criteria and very patient and helpful. Had a pretty bad experience with this company. Used one of their agents, Ohav, DO NOT USE HIM. I had been looking for a 2 bed/1 bath with a doorman in the village, which he said was near impossible - I know that it's not, I had more people than this guy looking for me and found many options. It took him a while to find me stuff, so I moved on to other brokers. He was very UNDERprepared, took me to lofts even for 1 person places. When I had lost touch with him, and a few weeks later he finally said he found the perfect place, then in a pestering manner, not even a few hours later, and the next morning, texted me repeatedly, and told me I wasn't being nice to ignore him. Was very unprofessional and emotional in this manner, I would only recommend this agency and this agent to people who wanted to be annoyed and find no results in their search for a place to live. read more

Their advertising misleads and misrepresents, and the agent I dealt with was untrustworthy. They had posted the same exact pictures to ads for several similar units. I saw all of them, and all the pictures had come from the best ads.had pictures of the best unit for all 4 of the units I saw. They posted the ad to craigslist as "by owner" rather than "broker fee." I met an agent to view a property that was advertised as "by owner", and there was definitely a broker fee. The agent I met with (Mike something) was as fast-talking and shifty as a car salesman. In his defense, he discovered early in our interaction that another real estate agency had just shown me apartments in the building we were scheduled to view together, so he immediately had to go into competitive mode. But notwithstanding, he said a lot of things that were explicitly derisive of what I said the other agent had told me, and he said a lot of things that I simply couldn't believe. I don't know whether the misleading on the craigslist ads was done by the agent I met or by someone else at the brokerage. read more

They charge 3000 a month for a tiny studio in Manhattan, in a stinky building- where super is never available, apartment is freezing cold and dirty, we have rodent and roach issues in the apartment!!!!!!... Watch for misleading ads and scare tactics. Saw two listings on craigslist. one for 1300, one for 1400. Both the same exact studio with "2 huge closets". Called for the 1300 one. Went to see it. The place has Zero closets and is now up to 1350 a month. Fine. I paid the 200 dollars in application fees put down a "good faith" deposit. After all the paperwork is through. I get a call saying the apartment is mine.....BUT.. another applicant is trying to get the apartment. So I being played off the other applicant to put up more money. If I do not offer more money, I could lose the apartment and the $200 in application fees. So what am I gonna do? I offer $1400 and its mine. My how easy that was. What was the point of the "good faith deposit" if you are gonna create a bidding war between applicants. On a smaller note, had trouble getting in touch with the super. Realtor ignores text because hes done with me. I end up getting nickeled and dimed two days I didnt even have the keys to the apartment. You'd think after paying the absurd NYC realtor commission rates you would be assisted through the whole process. Not me. read more

The week that I had to deal with Joe Mor felt like years. He gives off some SERIOUS Jeckyl and Hyde vibes-- sometimes he would call with a friendly demeanor, other times he would call and scream at me. He made me cry probably a dozen times. I can't stress enough how stressful this man was to deal with. He is not a clear communicator and would often call me screaming about a missing document I had in fact sent to him. One time he heard a dog barking in the background and accused me of having a pet I wasn't disclosing, and I had to explain to him that I was at work. When I asked for things in writing, he would call me and yell at me for not "trusting" him enough. He implied that I did some sort of illegal work, like that I was a prostitute or something, because my pay stubs showed I was paid by a man. I can't stress enough how much is wrong with this guy. I don't know if he was dealing with something in his personal life (?) but he needs to go to anger management. Please save yourself the stress, and just DON'T let Joe "show." This man genuinely should not have a job he is not fit to be employed anywhere but a madhouse. I waited a year to write this review because Joe is so scary I was genuinely afraid he would come to my apartment and scream at me for telling people how weird he is. read more

In the end, Alpha Properties NYC stole money from two recent college graduates, and refused to refund it. This is not only shocking, but completely unacceptable. They charged only one month's rent commission, which is a low fee apartment, which is rare for brokers- most brokers charge 10%-15% or, sometimes more! Anat showed us the apartment, that we eventually rented, and has so kindly dealt with my roommate and me, even my dad, too! Alpha did a great job at finding us an apartment that we loved. The only snags we came across were the price rising unexpectedly, and the move-in date which turned out to be inconsistent with what the landlord of the building told us. We are still waiting to move in almost three weeks after our realtor told us the apartment would be ready. I also wish that, seeing as my roommate and I are college students, our realtor would have explained the process to us a little more so that we weren't so surprised by the different fees. I had a great experience working directly with Yana in our apartment search. She was very responsive and easy to work with throughout the whole process. I spoke with her briefly over the phone to explain what I was looking for in an apartment rental and she met me on a Sunday and a Monday holiday to show me units that were exactly what I had asked for. The apartment we wanted was a co-broker apartment and there was a slight hiccup with an aggressive co-broker, but Yana fought on our behalf and she ended up delivering what she promised. On move-in day we had some issues with the management company, but Elad helped us handle it and everything turned out alright (he even got us a bottle of wine to apologize for any troubles). He is an extremely pleasant broker to deal with. Elad himself gets 5 stars. I'm giving Alpha a 4 overall because I did have an unfortunate event with a "superior" there who was quite disrespectful. This review is based on my interaction with Yana Ataman during my apartment search in December 2013/January 2014. We were looking for a one bedroom apartment in a luxury building. Although we were on a budget, Yana was patient with us and showed us different properties in the city. We were moving here from Pittsburgh and she was very responsive over emails and phone. My roommate and I spent three stressful weeks looking at sub-par apartments with various realtors in Manhattan. We were hoping to find a two bedroom in the Upper East Side, albeit with a modest budget. After we saw about ten apartments (ranging from ridiculously non-livable railroads to quasi-convertible one-beds) , essentially, the message we were receiving was "your budget is too low." I contacted Andi Antonucci at Alpha Realty, and the first two apartments she showed us were far superior than others we had seen (in regards to both layout, quality and price). Both apartments within the same area we had spent weeks surveying. The second apartment Andi showed us was fantastic--huge, a true two-bed, newly renovated, one block away from the subway and cost less han any other apartments we had seen prior. When we found out an application had already been placed for the apartment, we were extremely disappointed; but then Andi called me at 8:00 the next morning to alert me the spot had re-opened, and got our materials approved for a lower cost than originally listed. She went out of her way to make sure we got first-dibs. The place is really too good to be true!
