Went there yesterday and saw the definition of price gouging. Little packs of steak tips for $32, small packages of chicken for $17. 2 to 3 times the normal price. Great place, great people and wonderful selection of fresh meats! I go here for holiday or special occasion meats . I live about 40 mins away but it's worth it! I buy beef tenderloin for Xmas every year and rack of lamb a few times a year! Heavenly ! Not cheap but worth it! Only thing I don't like is the parking lot and busy intersection location. My husband and I decided to go to Alpine Butcher Shop to carry on the family tradition of having a prime roast for Christmas Eve dinner. His grandmother and mother always had a prime roast. We were a bit nervous on how to get the right roast. What size to get , and how to cook it. The people at Alpine made suggestions for us. They did not over sell us. So... I actually haven't shopped here. but at a cookout, my cousin had bought some steak and steak tips and grilled them up. He had extra, and he offered some to be, and.. yeah, they were good. I don't even really go for steak, because my parents always bought the boring steak, and grilled it without any sauces, so it was just steak and salt- I digress about my boring upbringing... Kangaroo meat! My friend and I went here in search of elk and were floored by their selection of rare meats. We ended up buying elk and kangaroo. I was tempted by the rattle snake but the price was just a little too high at around $60. Very good selection of meats, cheeses, deli items and chips. And, I have to say that the kangaroo was delicious. I was a little wary of trying it, but I loved it. I don't know if that makes me a bad person! We are definitely returning to pick up more meat soon, and I cannot wait! read more

After two years, this place is still my favorite place to shop for meat. The quality is absolutely incredible, and the flavor is unlike any other steak I've had. We recently got a pork shoulder at wegmans and it was dry, and lacked flavor. A few weeks later we stopped at alpine and ordered a pork shoulder for July 4th. The taste and quality was so much better. We also recently tried the Japanese wagyu that was on special and it was worth every penny. Not only is the selection of meat amazing, but the people that work there are amazing. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Dom in particular is always there to help pick out the perfect rib eyes for us. This place gets a 10/10 for quality and customer service. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Just had a roast beef sandwich at the Alpine butcher. It was a Sunday and I was looking for a quick sandwich to fill the spot. Based on previous reviews I was expecting to be blown away. Unfortunately when I asked the counter person if they had a crusty French bread, sourdough or something of that sort I was told that they didn't have fresh-baked bread on the weekends. So I got a roast beef with mustard lettuce tomato onions on packaged rye. Sides choices were chips or coleslaw. I asked how the coleslaw was, everyone loves it was the response. Unfortunately I did not as it was past its prime. The roast beef while very fresh was minuscule at best maybe 3 ounces. For an eight dollar sandwich I would've expected at least fresh bread and a decent portion of roast beef. Not impressed. read more

I come here for the salmon. The meat looks great but I always go home with the salmon. It is consistently better than any other salmon I have found. I have grilled it, baked it, and pan fried it. But my pesonal favorites are making sushi or Ceviche with it. There are a couple of decent sushi restaurants in the area but Alpine butchers salmon tastes better then anything I've had at any sushi bar on the East Coast. I am still learning to cut it properly for sushi and sashimi but I am no expert. The flavor still comes through even with my amateur cuts. I usually go on Wednesdays because I know they get a fresh shipment in every Wednesday. So Wednesday is Sushi night for me. If I don't want to pay full price and I'm going to cook it I will buy it Frozen for about 6 bucks less a pound when they have it available. Even Frozen it is still a great piece of fish. Someday I will try the ribeye. read more

Alpine butcher is the best place around to get quality meats. Whatever it is you're looking for from the mundane to the exotic you won't be disappointed. The Doyles will go out of their way to get you what you need and do so with a smile. If you're looking for some suggestions on what to get, my personal favorites are the garlic and provolone sausages and the cold smoked ribeyes. If they don't have the ribeye available just ask and they'll be happy to prep them for you, although it takes at least a couple of hours so best to call ahead. You don't know what your missing until you try these. Better than any steaks I've ever had. read more

Visited Alpine Butcher for the first time last Sunday with my fiancé. I have struggled to find a butcher shop worth the money for a quality product in the Chelmsford/Lowell area. When I walked in I was greeted by one of the owners, Tom. Tom was very helpful. The meat I bought was very fresh and the quality was superb, all I needed was salt and pepper. Alpine butcher also offers a lot of variety. I am a big fan of game meat and cannot wait to try some of the meat they have for sale. While talking to Tom at the store he told me where the meat comes from, how the animals are fed, where they are kept and etc which I greatly appreciated. I will go back to Alpine Butcher soon as not only was the food incredible but it appears they really care about providing a quality product and treating customers right. read more

I have just recently started coming to this butcher shop after my boyfriend and I saw it on the way home one day (took a new route). They do not disappoint! The quality of the product and competitive pricing, along with other local goods makes this a great stop. The staff is super helpful, and very courteous. Drove past this place a few times while I was in lowell. Ended up stopping in and had the roast beef panini which was just massive in size and should be renamed to roast beast. The aioli on the sandwich had a nice amount of horseradish in it which to me placed this panini over the top. The turkey panini itself was great as I had to come back and taste some more of their offerings. Last day in town I had the chicken Parmesan panini which found me tearing apart the wrapping and devouring the moist chicken smothered in marinara as the menu proclaimed. I am glad I stopped here for lunch and dinner. Only negative item I can say is their side of potato salad was too small but it was made up by the fact that their sandwiches are huge in size. read more

I am not the type of person to hop on Yelp and write a review but this was such a great experience that I had to share. I just got off of work and I had to run to Alpine to get my dogs there favorite bones which is completely out of the way but I will do anything for these doggies. So as I entered the shop obviously exhausted from my long day, I was pleased to be greeted with the most welcoming smile, as a young man approached me at the counter with attentiveness asking if I needed anything (I thought I would have to wait but no he was ready to assist as I walked through the door), of course I replied and said I needed some bones for my dogs, I felt awkward not knowing what these bones were called but the young man Juan assured me, and knew exactly what I was talking about. He asked if I needed the bones to be a specific size, which I replied no, and he came out in a matter of minutes with these perfect bones to bring home to my dogs. Seriously, as a dog mom, I couldn't have been more satisfied. I will 100% be back just because of this young man being so attentive and knowledgeable on the meat itself. Thank you for this great experience after my long day at work. I appreciate good customer service, and I will be back just because of him. read more

This is a how a business should be run. These guys will do almost anything for you. Need a special cut of meat? A certain size? Tie a roast? Done and done. They have a great selection of meat and seafood, I especially like the grass fed beef options and Smart Chicken. Their lunch sandwiches are very good, I go for the Spicy Boom Boom Roast Beef. They also have a great selection of hard to find sauces, dressings, and a good beer selection. I recently tried some of their soups, the thai curry soup was excellent.
