    Cozy living room in #11
    Patrick F.

This may be my first Yelp review, but I just wanted to add another good experience at Alpine Chalets. I was worried after seeing some of these reviews but my wife and I had a great time in A-frame #11. It was not fancy or modern but if you're looking for a cozy seaside a-frame that hasn't changed in decades, this is for you! No complaints in terms of cleanliness, housekeeping staff seemed on top of things and friendly. The chalet was great but the beach was even better. Beautiful little walk down to more or less private section of Oregon coastline -- perfect for morning walk, afternoon sun, or especially watching the sunset. If you don't mind vintage cabin vibes, then book Alpine Chalets (at least #11!) -- we'll be back.

Great view from the living room and deck. It could use a remodel but it was suitable for the 6 of us including 2 children. There is an easy trek down to the beach and a convenient Walmart close by.

Great place if you have children or if you have pets.. They are fun! There is a short hike/walk to the beach but you can wake up and look outside and see and hear the waves from the ocean.. A little on the spendy side but I would definitely come back..

Location-wise, it's conveniently nestled between Depoe Bay and Newport, making it a great base for exploring the Oregon coast. Day trips and sightseeing are easy from here. We stayed in a first-floor room. While every room likely offers lovely views, privacy was a bit of a challenge. We had looked forward to visiting this hotel for nearly a decade, especially for the spa on the balcony overlooking the cove--but we weren't comfortable using it due to direct visibility from the restaurant. The patio furniture was also quite firm, which made it tough to enjoy long stretches on the balcony--even with that incredible view. Inside the room, the layout and size were excellent. We appreciated the extra space to stretch out, and the oversized shower and double sinks were a plus. Our room appeared to include accessibility features, which may explain why the toilet area lacked a door despite the generous bathroom space. That said, there were a few areas where the room showed its age. The carpet had visibly shrunk around the edges, and the furniture felt a bit dated. Climate control was also an issue--there's no way to adjust the temperature beyond opening the door. This led to a bit of a tug-of-war between too hot and too cold, which definitely affected our sleep. Unfortunately, the coffee maker didn't work properly, and since there's no staff available after hours, there wasn't a way to get a replacement. The pillows weren't our favorite, though the bed itself was very comfortable. Overall, if you're planning a visit, the view is well worth it. Just go in with realistic expectations about some of the amenities and comfort features.

The lamp on the desk area might work better between the beds. -Dont expect to check in before 4 (understandable) even in early spring. -Sedans that sit lower- GO SLOW at the first enterence/exit to the right of the pool/check in location. - You WILL hear your above neighbors a little! -LOVE that there is tea, hot chocolate and coffee around the clock. -Shower had EXCELLENT pressure and heat! -Pool area was clean, and well kept! Large towels provided, only down side is having to go up so many flights of stairs outside to get to the pool. -Personaly I feel the restaurant that provides the room service is a bit overpriced. (I've eaten there in the last few years)- It does have a beautiful view! -Beds were very comfy for all! -The room has the tiniest fan I've ever seen! -I love that in the Wall of Windows there is a tiny window in which you can open it to hear the ocean! -It was post holiday and the room service wasn't available that night. -Be ready of using the stairs, wether it's maneuvering the building to going down to the beach. They do have an elevator by the lobby. -Poo on not having an available flashlight. As it was mentioned in the binder in room. Also speaking of said binder-keep in mind it's just not up to date- It is what it is when it comes to not having to use more paper/ink. This place is well loved (maintained). LOVE the lit mirror (reminded me I didn't bring my tweezers haha). Room had a large amount of extra space ; if you need to set up a playpen or doggie bed there is still lots of space to walk. Absolutely would love to come here again! Every bit of the staff was very friendly!

However, - There was zero recycling. We're surrounded by natural magnificence and it killed me to throw out glass, plant and paper in one bin. - Staircases to the beach were treacherous and wooden. Salt air destroys wood, making the descent to the beach scary and splinter-y. The wooden stairs to the beach near the restaurant were particularly dangerous. Areas of the stairs did not have the greenery trimmed back, and at the bottom you have to step through dirty silty water. Those stairs are a lawsuit waiting to happen. - The cement staircases inside the hotel actually had danger signs posted. I fear for older people... Yes, there's an elevator, but.... - No ventilation in bathroom. - The built-in heater screen was filthy and hairy-- possible fire hazard? - the bath/shower had a filthy very used rubber bath mat. No thanks. The 1950s are long gone. The very considerate and well-meaning Doggie gift bag was nice, but someone needs to let the hotel know that hard plastic frisbees break dogs' teeth, the plastic water bottles were not safe BPA plastic, so we just left it behind. Great idea in hospitality, but need an upgrade. So, I had to take away a star.
