Stayed for the weekened Chalet #8. Would love to visit again, but unfortunately we won't because the bare essentials are worn beyond their life expectancy i.e; 3 inch memory foam does not make a worn out queen bed any more comfortable, The 1970's stovetop is a fire hazzard, and for the shower, if you are 5 ft tall or under no problem, however for a normal size human you have to kneel down a whole foot to wash your hair, the wall in the bathroom seem to be infested with flying ants, when lights are out they emerge. Grossest thing ever when your sitting on the toilet and bugs are swarming your feet. Deffinity not worth the $370 for a two night stay. read more

All chalets at Alpine Chalets are independently owned. I bought #10 in June of 2016. It now goes by the name of "The Dude's Abode" and is on Airbnb. If you look at the reviews of the "Abode" you will find that we offer a clean, comfortable, and hip vacation space that mirrors the greatness of the wonderful location. I will soon be in a position to offer management services to my fellow owners. I hope that we can begin to solve these problems of the past and offer our guests a much better, cleaner, more than satisfactory experience. No matter what, The Alpine Chalets will be working hard to make this "diamond in the rough" shine again. I stayed here back in July...I am just now writing this review because it took them THIS long to sort out the bill. I went with a large group who had booked multiple chalets. The chalets are super tiny, don't let there pictures fool you. The "separate bedrooms" in the lofts don't even have doors so don't expect any privacy. Rooms were not cleaned during our week long stay (with 6 people crammed into a very small space since they claimed there were 3 bedrooms) and we were unable to get clean towels or linens. One of the kids in our group wet the bed and we had to go to town to clean the sheets at a laundrymat. On top of all this, they totally screwed up all our reservations. No one is on site for checkin and calling in they had no idea who we were and where we were staying. Some cabins had been double booked. They refused to tell me a charge for the stay, I called several times and they didn't return my call. So I gave up. 4 months later they put a $1900 charge on my card I gave them to hold the reservation... without any notice or confirmation or bill or AUTHORIZATION FROM ME. And they screwed up and charged me for two cabins when I only had one. They kinda have apologized and blamed it on management changing. They are now managed by a huge company that doesn't give a care about your stay or providing good service. Yes, they are dirt cheap to stay at...but you get what you pay for. Oh, and their wifi is so slow it's practically useless. The beach is a fairly difficult walk (grandma couldn't do it alone) and was constantly windy. The whale watching tour near by in Depoe Bay was the roughest boat ride I've ever been on...several people in our group got sick. I know that's not the cabin's fault, but my point is there is literally nothing else to do within a short drive. Just stay some where else. read more

I'm not a picky person about my hotels or motels! But this place is disgusting! We got #10 and it was covered in black mold! The beams inside on the A-frame are covered is cobwebs and dust! The place is not that high no excuses why it can't be dusted! The smell was so bad from the mold we got massive headaches and coughed in our first hour! We had to get out! We couldn't stay! Took hours to get a hold of Vacasa! We are still waiting on our refund! UPDATE 2017: We got an email awhile back, these are under new management and being updated. Last year I would have given it 4 stars. This year I'm giving you a warning. The Good: Beautiful location and very friendly staff. The property is well kept. Short walk to an amazing, not busy area of the beach. On the walk to the beach there is a campfire/ picnic are with great views. It is really nice. Quick Drive to newport, 20 mins to Lincoln city and a quick drive to the Devils Punch Bowl, which is an amazing view. Cute little suites to rent at an affordable price. For us, this place was perfect. The Bad: They got a new bed in the suite we rented this/last year.....they replaced the old bed with a Twin. A fricking twin..for two adults. Are you kidding me?? So all this week either my wife or myself have been getting up 1/2 way through the night to go to the couch. That is not how we like to do things. We like to cuddle but not like sardines. Very disappointed, they couldn't even spring for a double?? Small complaint, the wifi sucks. We are usually out surfing or exploring, but when you are trying to l look something up, it will take a while. Hell, it took yelp like 10 minutes to load so I could write this review before checking out. The Bad, oh it's Bad: The entire parking area and driveway up to the Chalets stinks horribly of human fece. So bad you can Literally taste human shit every time you walk to your car, or are coming back to the place you spent good money to rent. I figured it was a septic issue. I called the property management company, they did nothing to fix it or make me feel taken care of, they simply said " we are sorry to hear that sir we will put a note on your file" .... Thanks, a note on my file will definitely help me NOT vomit in my mouth every time I walk outside. It's been 3 days, no one has showed up to fix the issue. No one from the management company has called to see how things are going. Clearly, since they have my money, they no longer care. Very disappointed. every year. Let's hope they get on it. read more

***BEWARE when booking- serious issue please read below*** My issue is with vacasa and not with the property or owners. I originally booked through Expedia for this property and chose the dates of June 28-30. I paid with my AMEX through Expedia which was listed as an available payment choice. Vacasa then cancelled my reservation because they don't take AMEX. So issue number one: get it together on your Expedia listing. Then Vacasa called me and said I needed to re-book directly through them since they cancelled my reso so that I could choose a different payment method. The Vacasa phone rep was supposed to re-book the exact same reservation I had before, but instead booked the wrong dates. She booked for June 26-28 (my Expedia booking reference still available shows 28-30). This was in December that I booked. I was booking about 10 other properties at the same time for a 2.5 week road trip planned for June, and in the middle of this my 18 year old nephew was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and I had to fly across the country because he was being put on life support. Needless to say things were hectic and I missed that the rep chose the wrong dates in the confirmation email. 6 months go by and I get no further communications from Vacasa. I call on June 11 to double check my booking and I literally begin the call with "this is (my name) reservation checking in on June 28" to be looked up. I was NOT corrected during this call on the dates. So not until I receive check in instructions 6 days before our arrival am I able to realize the phone rep booked the wrong dates. Vacasa took ZERO responsibility for the mistake, and refused to do anything for me. We would not be using the property AT ALL and they wouldn't even refund the pet fee and cleaning fee (which obviously wouldn't be needed since we weren't setting foot on the property). Not even an offer to give credit for a future stay. The best they could come up with was 15% off a future visit, which is insulting. Again, not the property owner's fault and they deserve to keep the fee since this is on Vacasa. I get that I missed the confirmation, but the original booking I made was correct and it was their phone rep's error. To make absolutely no effort to try to waive at least the cleaning and pet fee is disgusting on the part of Vacasa. I will be complaining to Expedia about the booking (btw I had insurance through Expedia originally when booking but lost that as a way to cover myself since Vacasa forced me to re-book directly through them) to make sure Expedia has them removed from their site. I will make sure to let everyone know that Vacasa is a joke and has horrible customer service. First and last time I will ever book somewhere through Vacasa. Don't worry, I will be sure to spread this review around all travel websites I can get my hands on. Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. read more

My pups and I really enjoyed staying at these chalets. The location is perfectly-centrally located. It is aprx 900 ft from Molokai Beach with a nice picnic area right in front with a huge fire pit (they provide the freshly cut wood). The owners are super dog friendly to responsible dog owners. There is a beautiful view of the sunrises and sunsets if you don't feel like walking 900 feet to the beach. Beds and decor are dated but ok... great restaurants within 3 miles. This may be my first Yelp review, but I just wanted to add another good experience at Alpine Chalets. I was worried after seeing some of these reviews but my wife and I had a great time in A-frame #11. It was not fancy or modern but if you're looking for a cozy seaside a-frame that hasn't changed in decades, this is for you! No complaints in terms of cleanliness, housekeeping staff seemed on top of things and friendly. The chalet was great but the beach was even better. Beautiful little walk down to more or less private section of Oregon coastline -- perfect for morning walk, afternoon sun, or especially watching the sunset. If you don't mind vintage cabin vibes, then book Alpine Chalets (at least #11!) -- we'll be back. read more

Review for #7 (written on my phone, please forgive the mistakes from typing on a tiny screen). Upon arriving, I thought hey funny little chalets. And the flowers growing out front were clearly well cared for and beautiful which was promising. Then upon entering I noticed that the decor and furniture was cheap, dated and or worn out. The sofa sinks into metal parts when you sit on it and it nearly won't let you go when you attempt to get up. But the king bed in the downstairs bedroom looked promising...Well I can tell you that after a night of trying to not fall into the pit in the middle of the mattress it was not a good rest at all. My head and neck and shoulders are in knots and I'm dead tired. The worst part? We have 2 more nights here. The chalet was clean, a little dusty in spots, but nothing too bad. No weird smells which was good. There are no GFCI outlets in the kitchen which I'm pretty sure is against state building code. The bedroom was stuffy and I wanted to open the window but there was no screen. There was garbage on the ground behind the chalet. I'm just disappointed that we spent so much on this place. We won't be back. For about $5000 this chalet could be updated and WONDERFUL. And worth the $600 we paid for the weekend. Addendum...there was 1 roll of TP. For 3 people for 3 nights...also only 2 washcloths for 3 people for 3 days... Addendum to the addendum...also, the bed had very flat worn out king size pillows in regular sized cases. Imagine that for a minute. Oof. Plus the plugs spark and one in the living room sparks badly when you use it and has black scorch marks on it. I hate that this review is just one long complaint. But it really was a huge disappointment how badly set up and maintained this cottage was. PS there are pokemon here ... read more

We stayed here for 4 nights so we could enjoy the surfing beach at otter rock. The Good: Centrally located between Lincoln City and Newport, walking access to beach, dog-friendly, affordable The Bad: Extremely dirty, in fact it was obvious that the sheets had not been washed (smelly, dog hairs), and many areas of the cabin were covered in a thick layer of dust, along with some random items left behind by the previous guests. The shower stall floor was slippery (moldy), and the kitchen definitely needed a wipe-down to say the least. The couch needs replacing, completely bagged out and covered in random (crusty) stains. Oh, and there are mice (found droppings on floor, and the day after on the kitchen counter), so food must be covered at all times. Also, the layout is poor for multiple people sharing a cabin, as the full bathroom is ensuite to the main bedroom on the main floor which makes it inconvenient for bathroom/shower access (we were staying as a group of friends). If you go knowing what to expect it may not be too bad, but I definitely won't be returning. read more

This is the perfect place for people who like to surf. It has great access to a beach with some awesome waves. The beach stretches on for miles and allowed for us to enjoy some great walks in the surf. The cabin itself was a little old and had a musky smell to it, but that is to be expected from structures that are a little aged. A fresh coat of paint may help with that. Otherwise, we enjoyed a great romantic weekend in our chalet. read more

You have to have a minimum 3-night stay at $100 per night. We stayed in number 11. When we walked in, immediately we got hit by a musty odor. We stayed 4 nights, then stayed somewhere else for two nights. When we got home, our clothes reeked of mildew. There is no wash machine or dryer, so we had to spend $20 at the laundromat. The couch was shoved up against the baseboard heater (fire hazard), which looked like it was burnt. There weren't enough towels so we had to spend money at the laundromat to wash them. We tried to contact the owners for more towels but they were unreachable. The fridge had rust spots all over it. There were boards sticking out on the side of the bed, which my husband kept hitting with his leg. Ouch! The doors did not lock on the bathroom or the bedroom. We had to buy oil for the keyhole on the front door in order to open it. You can hear every vehicle that drives by, so you can't get much sleep. Hide-a-bed is stained and doesn't come with sheets or blankets. Heater is very hot, floor is very cold. Electrical is messed up, sometimes the light or fan turns on in the kitchen, sometimes it doesn't. Tiny old tv. Some bulbs are burnt out. Sheets smelled like b.o. like they weren't washed. Overall, there needed to be a lot of maintenance done but nobody did it. We planned a family reunion at the Chalets and it could not have been any better. This event was in the planning for years and it even happened during the management change. There was a snafu with out reservations, but the new management company was able to repair the problem. The on-site manager was there at check-in and the phone number took me right to the management company when I had a question. We had eight of the ten chalets rented and I know our chalet experience was great. The on-site manager was very helpful and was around for help when we needed. He even had a golf cart available to help those that needed it get down and return from the beach. We had a large group of children and he gave them his cell number so they could reach him to get a ride. Oops, that was a mistake. Let's just say he was getting a lot of text messages. :) We all had a wonderful time at the beach flying kites, surfing, playing in the sand, searching for sea life in tide pools. It was an amazing week and I would recommend the Alpine Chalets to anyone for a wonderful stay on the Oregon coast. There were a lot of fun things to do within a short drive. As a sampling, some of our group did horseback riding on the beach up north, went crabbing in Newport City, went to the lighthouse, rode bikes around the area, and played football on the beach with the family. There a ton of activities and they are all just around the corner. read more

Two minute walk to the beach on a private path, between Depoe Bay and Newport close to Devils Punch Bowl. Awesome condo with an upstairs for the kids. Perfect check in system. We will absolutely stay here again! They are a little older so they're not updated or modern which was fine for us. Maybe it was a nice place to stay in the 60s. For three nights our card was charged over $500. It was in SERIOUS need of a deep cleaning. There was dirt in the corners on the floor and the top of the fan hadn't been dusted in a VERY long time. We had 5 adults and two kids. We called the Vacasa Rental phone number to ask for more towels our second night and we never got them. 7 people with four towels!?! No dishwasher, tiny stove, no laundry on site. The interior is covered in wood wall paneling. It felt more like a jail then a vacation rental. The hike to the beach was long and steep. We were under the impression it was beach front and IT IS NOT!! Won't ever stay here again. We were in number 10 and our family was in number 3. They had a dishwasher and it was bigger, but they both needed cleaned and some maint done to them. Gross gross gross. Only pluses were great sheets and pillows and the guy who managed the place kept the scruf from the beach out. I think the main problem is that it is managed by a big property mgmt company and once they have your money they don't care how your stay is. Oh and the picnic area was nice. Save your money and find something cleaned and on the beach!! read more

My partner and our two children (8 and 10) recently spent our vacation at Alpine Chalet #6 in adorable Otter Rock. OR. We live near Seattle and have been coming to the OR coast for years. This place is an absolute gem! We loved the quiet and quaint community setting, stunning location and beaches steps away from the sand! There's sweeping views, picnic tables benches, fire pits, swings and toys for the kids. 5-10 minute drive to all local attractions /food/shopping. Fun was definitely had by all! We will definitely be back next year! read more

STAY AWAY. By far the worst and dirtiest place I have ever stayed at. We had to pay a cleaning fee before being able to stay here and when we got there, the place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. We ended up having to find another hotel the next day because we could not stand the filth. We were supposed to stay 4 nights and barley were able to stay 1 simply because the drive there caused us to be too tired and just slept there the 1 night. read more

Cute and cozy cabins in a perfectly central location. Lincoln city and Newport Bay front are both within very close proximity on either side of the A-frames... A five minute walk directly to the ocean and a huge yard equipped with a fire pit and functional grill! My family and our two young pups really enjoyed our stay. However (and here's the reasoning for only 2 stars) I will say this about the rooms themselves.... They were absolutely filthy and the dishes were not clean in any way shape or form. There was trash including glass shards, screws and cigarettes butts directly outside our door - readily accessible for our dogs to potentially hurt themselves on/with. The rooms were incredibly dusty and clearly only half assedly cleaned. There was a wash/dryer unit in the bathroom with a sign posted which said that we would be charged for if damaged and that they had no power source. Which I found amusing seeng as how the were both obviously connected to both power and water outlets/inlets. I cannot say anything about the staff because they were nowhere to be found. All in all I don't see myself coming back in the future. I would not stear anyone away from this place at all but I most definitely would not recommend it either.
