I live on the sea coast and Al's has been one of our favorite. However tonight I was disappointed. The seafood platter for 2 had 5 clams and 5 scallops. This for $31+. Hometown feel with fabulous food! I got the fish chowder and crab roll. My dining partner got a crab cakes and lobster roll. Both were huge portions and tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. It was an awesome meal, I'd definitely recommend it. The crab cakes really stole the show! read more

Yum! Stopped by after a day at the beach based on yelp recommendations. We were very happy with our clam strips, fried haddock sandwich, and a 1/2 and 1/2 platter of calamari and haddock. They use a light fry batter that is crisp and not salty. The haddock was fresh and mild. I also got the lobster stew which had a nice size serving of sweet lobster. The stew base was good but not particularly flavorful. My daughter liked their fries! We thought the service was great and the prices were very fair. Definitely worth a visit! I've been here about 10 times in 4 years. Food is consistent. Always get good food. Usually get a fisherman's plate with scallops, haddock, shrimp, clams and fries. All are very good. Wife is fussy about whole belly clams and she loves them. Seafood or Clam chowder is very good also. Comfortable dining room. Pleasant wait service. Lobster meat is pricey - I buy that elsewhere. Like that they have tartar sauce in a bottle instead of some small container - love too much tartar sauce :-) read more

Best New England clam chowder ever had. The whole belly clams were so tender and delicious. Lobster roll was so meaty. Even the french fries were delicious. Servers were all very pleasant. I once was a big fan of Al's Seafood, but sadly, not any more. I had always ordered the same thing. A Fried Clam Plate. The last couple of times I've got my order the clams were over cooked, hard, crunchy and tasteless. If I want fried clams like this, I can get ones just like these at home in Rhode Island. My review is solely on my experience ordering from the Al's Seafood Market. I have been to Al's Seafood Market several times now and decided to leave a review. The place is great for any seafood lover. They have it all. I have bought Haddock, Scallops, Stuffed Clams, Homemade Crab Cakes, Calamari, and the Tartar sauce. The seafood quality is fresh and delicious. Also the prices do not break the bank. I recommend for any seafood lover to visit either the market or the restaurant. I visit my sister and her family once or twice a year, and my vacation is not complete without a trip to Al's. (Used to do a lot of takeout, but batter and styrofoam do not mix.) The seafood is always fresh & tasty at Al's. Unfortunately the place is run like a school lunchroom. (Complete with lunch-ladies eyeballing your every move) DON'T enter the dining area unless you have placed an order. STOP don't touch those napkins (I mean really, a big stop sign?). DON'T take extra forks, salt, anything - DON'T TOUCH THEM until you get your meal. The dining area was quiet - felt like I was in the library and would get scolded if I laughed out loud. We stopped at Al's a few days ago & picked up some fish. There were a few bones in the sole but the shrimp were delicious. The fresh swordfish looked really good too. I didn't get to try any of their cooked food but they do a nice job with the raw fish. If you're in the neighborhood, give it a shot. read more

Went here with my girlfriend a couple of days ago and got some seafood. I got the "half and half" plate which ones half fried scallops and half fried haddock. And my girlfriend had the fried haddock as well. When we ordered we sat down to the tables on the other room and we must if only been there 5 minutes tops and our food was brought out to us. Food tastes very fresh. Haddock was very flaky and light and retained its juices. The scallops had great flavor. Great seafood here will definitely return. read more

EXPENSIVE for portion~ Had a craving for Lobster on a salad. My first visit I Ordered just that - cold lobster salad on a garden salad. with tax it was almost 18$. Ok, I'm willing to pay more especially if it's good- let's see what my lunch looks like... My salad comes out and i take it to go, get back to my office and realize there was maybe 4oz of lobster meat if that. the greens were good and of good quality, but there was not enough lobster meat to satisfy my hunger let alone my appetite... the next week i was still craving an amazing lobster on garden salad. so i decided to head back to Al's seafood- as it is convienient to my office... this time i spy the cold lobster by the pound so I decided to see how much lobster meat i could get for my $, and chose 2 nice tails and some claw meat. total was $7-$8. Perfect. now i will get a garden salad to put my lobster on... the girl showed me a pre made salad that was small and explained it was $3.99. i wanted to take my chances on the salad from the restaraunt side because the salad i had last week was obviously more substantial... same price - waited 10 minutes, for the SAME small salad that i was shown before. what happened to the garden salad?? this was a .99$ salad sized from Wendy's. So while i finally got the lobster i was craving - my salad was lacking for salad. i don't think i will return to Als. read more

One of the best spots for seafood, way better than some of the overhyped competitors. Order at the counter and then find a seat in the dining room. One of the nice staff will bring out your food and drink. They also give a big squeeze bottle of tartar and cocktail sauce, not a little plastic cup like most places. I usually split the Fisherman's Platter, a ton of food for 2 people. I also get the fresh fish to cook at home and everything has been very good. My husband and I ate here today for the first time, on a recommendation from an acquaintance. He had Fried Clam plate, and I had Combo plate. Both served with plenty of seafood , with plenty of French fries on both, along with Cole slaw. Delicious! There was so much food and couldn't finish it. The seafood was a nice golden color, and everything was hot....not lukewarm. The French fries were nice and crunchy. The young lady manning the order window was friendly, and helpful. Contrary to directions above Al's Seafood is located in North Hampton on the right just north of the mall that contains Shaws, Marshalls and Home Depot...not Abercrombies. It is a decent place to have seafood with great twin lobster specials at a very good price. It is just one level above "roughing it" with the lobster as you dine inside. read more

Dinner during the week saw a lot of orders to go. First visit you order at the counter gals were very friendly. You then go to a large room with a very high A frame type ceiling decor fresh and the temp was nice on a chilly night. Ordered baked scallops with rice, cole slaw and a roll. The scallops were cooked very nicely firm keeping their flavor. They were covered w a very salty bread topping yes it added flavor but way too much. The rice was an after thought too bad, slaw course cut had a great chew and dressing. Next Haddock and fried shrimp with fries and slaw. Shrimp were cooked nicely but the Haddock was not, it was limp and not crispy. Of course prices on items are subject to change, the lobster was competitive.
