Worst. Dr Alsager is not there anymore. Had been an loyal customer for 15 years. Would not see my pet because I was a "new" customer (their record system did not show I had been a previous customer). I am receiving emails from third party about pet vitamins from them.....but they won't see my pet for medical reasons??? it was a great place... Very disappointed in the declining care. Have been a client here and have been bringing my pets in for years. Unfortunately, when waiting in office for results the unprofessional staff was inconsiderately/inappropriately speaking to one another on the serious and sad situation my pet was in for. Dr Fear is one of the best vets I have met. He is also an excellent surgeon. He is constantly learning & not stuck in one way thinking. He has treated my rabbits, guinea pigs, dog, hamsters, & other small animals. Recently he has saved the life of my gerbil so many times I lost count. (3) tumors &;something that is off but can't be diagnosed because you just don't do MRI, or cat scans, x-rays on little gerbils that just won't sit still. read more

First off all we waited a extra month to get the vet we wanted only to get a different one. Than we had our Golden to vet to get blood work, and a cyst looked at. The vet drained the cyst and said it was just full of puss. They did blood work but also a HW test , which we did not request. The Cyst that vet drained looks horrible and still bleeding. he is now on some topical meds to see if this helps it heal. She gave us zero directions on what to do or look for when we left we will not be returning! Very disappointed! read more

It pains me to write this as I have taken all my fur babies to Dr. Alsager for many years. He LITERALLY saved the life of my little Sylvie. Even called me personally to follow up. This is the care he always gave me and I assume to all who came to the office. Now he is retired and it Is definitely not the care I am accustomed to getting for my kids. I always end up seeing a different doctor so they never know anything about me, my baby or their history. Recently my Siamese had an issue and I tried for three days to get in to see someone for him. I was referred to another office which I knew for a fact to be a step above a butcher shop. This made me nervous. We ended up at Canton animal hospital on Michigan Ave (thank goodness) and the vet there is very kind and knowledgeable. My cat is now blind. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the infection he had but when I asked the vet at Alsager about his eyes a couple months ago, she told me there is no way to check a cats vision But they look fine to her. Who knows. I am now writing this review because when I called this morning to cancel an appointment I managed to make almost a week and a half earlier (as they said it was the soonest I could get in) I explained to the woman answering the phone (who never gave her name) the situation and the end result. Her response...." I'm sorry to hear that, so why are you calling.". I told her I am sad that as a long time customer to this clinic that it seems they have grown so big that the quality of service has fallen. It wasn't like this when Alsager was there. Her response was basically I'm sorry that Dr. Alsager retired, there's nothing I can do about that or about our situation because of covid. I commented that I may need to look for a smaller clinic for more personalized care. Her response was , I will be happy to get those records together for you. That's it. Wow. The conversation ended with her commenting very sarcastically, "have a nice day". I wish I knew her name but I know why she doesn't say it when she answers the phone. She left a horrible taste in my mouth behind this. So when I went to pick up the records they weren't ready. When I said I had spoken to her earlier and she said she would get them together she said " yes, I said that but you didn't tell me to actually do it". WTH?? So I leave and as I'm leaving I think, no...let me go back and talk to this lady. She obviously isn't understanding that I'm not blaming her, I'm just sad it's come to this. So when I went to the door and called to talk with her ( can't go in without calling) she sat at the desk looking at me through the glass as it went to voicemail. Real professional. Had she been a professional adult about this, this whole mess could have been resolved and I could leave with nothing negative to say. I wasnt given the respect or opportunity. Just nasty uncaring attitude. I left a voicemail asking for the office manager to please reach out to me. I'm thinking I'm not going to get a call back. UPDATE After leaving a message for the manager on Facebook she contacted me promptly and did in fact call me back today. She was apologetic and had already done her research as the calls are recorded. She was very gracious with accommodating any decision I wanted to make as far as switching vets. I still feel like they are overwhelmed and I need a vet who can see my kids quickly in an emergency but I at least had to improve my rating because they did care enough to reach out to make things right. read more

If this was 3 yrs ago 5 star w/o hesitation. The care my old dog received was exceptional and worth the thousands of dollars spent for wonderful care. I adopted a new puppy 12 weeks ago and thru 3 visits I've had two very disappointing experiences. The first was it took 4 days, 3 emails and 3 phone calls to get his accurate shot records sent so he could start daycare. The second was a prolonged wait today with zero communication from the staff, while trying to keep a sick puppy still while being sick myself. Unfortunately I had to leave and my sick puppy was left untreated. For the current year I'd give a 1 star rating, thus the overall 2. I'm not sure I will come back, as it's a bit far from my house. I would like to ensure my puppies good health for the next 10-15 years, unfortunately I think I've lost confidence in this facility to provide that care. A disappointing and concerning outcome from a place I once trusted. read more

Alsager Animal Care is the ONLY place I will trust with my babies. They are kind, compassionate and thorough. We had a territorial 75 lb English bulldog that was horrible other places, but Dr Fear was incredible and patient with him and wound up being the only he would let look at him. They were able to get my dog in on a whim for a slight emergency. She had to be sedated but everything was handled with compassion and care. I highly recommend this veterinarian and I am happy with our experience. All staff members were beyond kind and caring during our scary situation. Wish i could give zero stars! Horrible!! Took two kittens there eight days ago, their incisions BOTH came open. Blood all over my house, horrible swelling in both kittens abdomen. I took them in and they stapled the incisions back together without any numbing medicine. Very barbaric! Then they had the nerve to charge me $72 to "repair" their hack job. Disgusting heartless people that only care about money! (Mind you i paid almost $600 for this hack job). I'm new to the area and has no idea they were this awful! read more

I had a hamster that needed care, however they quoted me such a sum that I thought twice about it and passed on the first appointment and they suggested that I surrender the animal. I then reconsidered and decided that I did not want the hamster to die so I called to reschedule. The receptionist then told me that the next available appointment was 20 days away. When I expressed my concern that the hamster wasn't eating her response was that I had an appointment and didn't come so that it was basically my fault. I told her she was being rude and then she told me that I was the rude one and she didn't have to listen to me. I proceeded to call another vet in the area and they are getting me in within the week, even though at first they said they were booked. They then took the time to ask what the issue was, the actual vet got on the line, and he got us in. They are MUCH less expensive, and were very nice. I WAS a customer at the first place and took other animals there. I will not be returning. read more

The care that Dr. Pratt and Toni gave my beautiful cat Chi cannot be put into words. Their knowledge and caring are far beyond anything I could have hoped for. I would not take my pets anywhere else. They are truly fabulous. Trust is a Huge part of care for our pets, this is where you need to take your loving pets. We adopted our beautiful kittens from the clinic last fall and now Will and Kate have the wonderful care that our previous dogs and cat received. I wanted to provide a more recent review. We've been coming here for 5 years, and they are excellent. Some of the older reviews on here reflect experiences with staff members who are no longer there. The staff and doctors here are excellent. They actually love animals and love what they do. Dr. Alsager is a kind and enjoyable doctor--he educates so many other junior veterinarians and has been fantastic with all of our animals. They are the most reasonably priced reputable vets office around. We moved 30min away and still come here for our regular appointments. read more

Dr. Fear has been treating our pet mini pig. Dr. Fear & the team at Alsager have all been great at trying to help treat her. They are very compassionate & caring - going to every length to make sure our pet is comfortable in their care. Service has always been very prompt and friendly. We are usually in a room exactly at our scheduled appointment time, though we may have to wait 5-15 mins for the doctor to come in at busier times. The women working the front desk & behind the scenes always remember our pet's name, greet her & ask how she is doing (whether or not they are helping the doctor that day). I feel like they are doing their best at all times, and truly care about every animal that comes in their doors. The pricing for visits, labs & medication is extremely fair. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who needs a family vet! read more

I am giving one star because the front desk staff reached out to me after our awful experience at this office to apologize, otherwise I would give zero stars if I could. It is my advice that if you have a large breed dog, steer clear of Dr. Pratt. I have never had such a horrible experience at a veterinary office. I have a 120 lbs Great Dane, she is a BIG girl. But she is the sweetest most docile dog, who has never shown aggression towards anyone--if anything she is timid and fearful of new people. We were hoping to switch vets, as Alsager is closer to our home and reasonably priced. Upon our arrival, staff was welcoming and helpful, as our baby was afraid to get on the scale initially. With coaxing and treats, she was ultimately willing. We met with an additional staff that was updated on the previous years immunizations--again was pleasant and interacted kindly with us and our dog. When the veterinary, Dr. Pratt, opened the door to come into the room, she was visibly startled and jumped at the sight of our dog, despite our dogs large breed being listed on her file. She continued to remain visibly uncomfortable and nervous throughout the interaction. Our dog was by my husband and I, standing. She asked that we hold our dog. My husband had her collar, and she sat down. Our dog began barking as Dr. Pratt was speaking to us in an elevated tone, verging on yelling, indicating she was going to muzzle our dog after she began barking. I noted that she has never in her lifetime been aggressive towards anyone and does not need a muzzle. Dr. Pratt, again elevated, stated, "when they're this size, they're getting muzzled, we're not taking chances!" and indicated something I cannot recall about going to the hospital before she left the office. Dr. Pratt then stuck her arm through the door, attempting to hand us a muzzle to place on our dog. I noted at this time, we were going to be leaving. Dr. Pratt, stated, "ok, fine with me!". I was incredibly impacted by this negative experience. My dog has had no problems at any other veterinary office and has again, never in her lifetime, been aggressive towards anyone. I was unwilling to muzzle my dog--I have no intention of causing undue trauma to my dog and do not want her to associate fear with the veterinary. Moving forward, we will continue to travel a distance and pay more money, to continue to have a positive experience for our dog. It is my expectation that a trained veterinarian would not discriminate due to the size and breed of a dog--which was the case in our experience with Dr. Pratt. It was blatantly clear that Dr. Pratt is uncomfortable and unskilled with large bread dogs as she presented as startled, fearful, elevated and nervous during the 2-3 minute interaction that was had with our dog. Again, if you have a large breed, do not work with Dr. Pratt out of this office. read more

I was going to another local vet. I was not happy with them at all. So I called around and found this vet. My dog was itching very badly for several days. They were able to get me in, but not until a day later, but gave me the first appointment. The place was very clean and not filled to the brim with people waiting. There are 2 entrances and 2 sets of seating spaces. I saw the owner, Dr. Mark Alsager. Dr. Mark was understanding that my dog would have a very rough time taking pills. So he tried giving the dog shots instead. That was on a Sunday. I ended up buying medicated anti itch shampoo and bathed the dog later that day. By Monday, my dog was still itching pretty badly. I called up the vet office today and asked again about what could be going on. Dr. Mark called me, but I didn't get to my phone and he left a voicemail to call back. I ended up chatting with him on the phone and he told me to come in later in the day and gave me an appointment. I brought my dog to him in the late afternoon. Dr. Mark had an assistant help him hold the dog to examine the dog and did a skin scraping so see what might be there. The results came back negative. He did give the dog a different steroid shot. I asked if I could get a reduced cost for the visit. To my AMAZEMENT, he did not charge me for the office visit or the skin scraping. All he charged me for was the steroid shot, which I happily paid. I know for a fact that had I gone to my old vet, they would have charged me through the teeth for every little thing they could, every time. Dr. Mark Alsager will have new clients of me and my dog. I am so impressed. He is extremely personable, caring and professional. The office staff are very nice and courteous as well. They have great hours and open on Sundays. Thank you Dr. Mark. read more

We have taken our dog here before and were happy with the vet and facilities. I took our cat in yesterday for a suspected UTI. A urine sample could not be obtained and we decided to leave him overnight. I was told we would receive a call in the morning. I just called the office as it is after 1pm with no update. The office is closed!!! It closed at 1pm today. I was not made aware of this. Now my cat is forced to be away from home another night! I certainly hope I am not forced to may for another night's stay unnecessarily! Un-freaking-believable. read more

I have been using this vet clinic for many years. I took my 3 year old sheppard mix in because she was drinking a ton and peed on the floor, very unusual for her. We ended up having to see Dr. Pratt, who I definitely would not have chosen if given a choice. She felt my dogs belly and put her on antibiotics for maybe a bladder infection, maybe something wrong with her stomach..Well my baby finished the antibiotics and one month later she is dead. She had pancreatitis, Dr. Pratt never took blood, one blood test would have likely saved my dogs life. This Dr. is incompetent, condensending and lazy! My beautiful baby, my best friend is gone forever. Don't use this vet! Ever. read more

I have two dogs that were itching and scratching I went to this veterinary clinic three times spent over $600 and after rounds of antibiotics and steroids and confusion on their end I went on the Internet and realized my dogs had made mites! Their hair was falling out around their tails, they were scratching constantly. I called Alsager's office to tell them that all the treatments did not work and I thought they had mites. They would not give me an appointment until their next available which was in eight days. I was very polite not rude and told him I really needed your help, the receptionist told me if I needed faster help to go someplace else and hung up on me. We have spent so much money and time and after going to another Vet we were told this was a simple diagnosis yet we have suffered with this situation for over a month and it's alarming not only because they were unable to help us but with the way they treated us in the end, horrendous. read more

I took our puppy there Monday for her first visit. I can't say it was the best nor the worst visit. I can't even tell you the Vet's name because she didn't even introduce herself to me. I made a comment at the desk that I was a first time owner, but that my boyfriend has had a dog before, so when the Vet came in she pretty much had it in her mind that we're new to being parents to a furbaby. As our puppy's parents we have decided we didn't want her around other dogs until she is after she is spayed which she is only 11 weeks now and the Vet made it seem as though that was horrible. Or at least I felt like whatever was discussed with her, she made it seem like my boyfriend and I are horrible parents or that we didn't know what we are doing. We'll give this place another chance for her next visit when my boyfriend takes our puppy for her next shots. read more

I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have been taking my pets to Alsager's for over ten years. I have had five cats in this time and the Drs have been great to each one. Yes, the place is always busy, but if you have an appointment at 3:30, you'll get in pretty much at 3:30. My Siamese who was 18, started into kidney failure, with Dr Alsager's advice, I was able to keep him alive and comfortable for an extra 6 months. When the time came for me to say goodbye, they didn't hesitate to have me come in right then. They also have let me stay as long as needed in the room afterwards. They are open on Sundays and are very accommodating. read more

I have been very disappointed in Alsager and finally made the move to my new vet. My cat was very sick. Vomiting blood, not eating and lethargic. Dr. Fear himmed and hawed trying to guess what was wrong. He suggested a nasal cleaning the next day and would call with the price. They never called. I did and was told $2100. For a cat netty pot basically. I said I would put him on the broad spectrum antibiotics like they suggested. She said she'd call me with the information. Never did. Got in my new vet next day. My cat was VERY sick. He immediately knew he had to stay. Performed bloodwork, X-rays and unfortunately we needed to take him to Blue Pearl animal hospital (amazing place) for an ultrasound. He stayed the night. They made him comfortable- warming pads because his temp was low. They never even took it at Alsagar. He was put on fluids and fed with a seringe. He was made comfortable. It didn't turn out well for my kitty but they discovered what was wrong and made him comfortable until we put him down. Our total bill wasn't much more than the $2100 netty pot procedure Dr. Fear wanted to do. Also my dog takes anti anxiety pills for thunder and fireworks. Alsager charged me $4.50 a pill. My new vet charges.75 a pill for same medication! They are thief's! read more

I love Alsager! Our old vet was not even as close as awesome as Alsager! We found Alsager when we moved to Canton and I am more than pleased. The girls at the desk are always so friendly and accommodating which is great because I can tell they are always so overwhelmed with how busy they are. We have 2 cats and a dog, and I think by now we've seen all the doctors and they are all Fantastic!! They spend so much time with you and try their best to make you and your pet comfortable. The last time we went was when I realized how great they are. Our 8 pound Chihuahua went to get some vaccines and a basic exam on a Saturday at 12, they close at 1. Shortly after we got home, he started acting weird (shaking, keeping his tail between his legs) and then threw up. We called Alsager which was 5 minutes before they closed and they said "bring him right back in"! with no hesitation. They let us in after they closed and didn't even act irritated about it. They gave our dog some benadryl and checked his temp and didn't charge us for it. I Love Alsager, and I would recommend them to anyone! read more
