Time was running short, and I was worried my dress wouldn't be ready. But from the moment I met Cheryl, I felt at ease. She is the kindest, most personable person, and made me feel right at home--almost as if we'd known each other forever! Cheryl truly understood what I wanted, took my vision to heart, and worked her magic to make my dress fit perfectly. Her expertise and attention to detail were incredible, and the final result was exactly what I had dreamed of. Extremely unprofessional and overpriced. She wanted to charge $955 for very minimal wedding dress alterations, and when we decided to go elsewhere they had a big issue with it. This included slamming the door, snotty comments, and demanding we pay for their time with no contract stating we had to. Would not recommend. read more

My sister was getting her wedding dress hemmed and shoulder straps shortened here, they wanted to charge her just under $1,000. In her words, my sister was "lucky" to have "such little alterations needed". We simply decided to go elsewhere. When handing her dress back to her outside, she was very condescending and slammed the door on my sister. No prior communication regarding how much they were going to charge was had, it seemed very clear to me that they were taking advantage. We were there for 45 minutes and they had no policy on charging for their time, yet demanded payment for those 45 minutes. Had three dresses I needed hemmed. A friend recommended and they were quick to help pin each dress and set a date for when they would be ready a few weeks later. This was the most bizarre and worst experience I have ever had. My niece is getting married and was referred to this shop. I am a bridesmaid and chose to have my alterations done there as well. I arrived while my niece was finishing up hers, and then the seamstress fit mine. My niece went to check out and I did not see what she was charged. I went to checkout and it was $180 for a couple of very small changes. That did not sit right at all. After we had walked out, I asked my niece what she was charged and she said close to $1000. This was for again, a couple of small changes. I turned around and went back in and explained that we were unaware it would be so much and that we would like to go with someone else. Immediately, there was a terrible attitude from the woman at the counter. A few seconds later, the woman who I assume is the owner, came out with a very aggressive attitude. I was not trying to be rude and explained that we had changed our minds. She stated we needed to pay $50 for each dress fitting as we had taken up an hour of their time. As someone in business, I thought that was ridiculous but whatever. As it went on, they stated the bride needed to come back in and explain. I said she would not be coming back in and that I simply needed a refund and the dresses. The owner grabbed my niece's wedding dress and took it outside to her, shoving it at her and then slamming the door on her way back in. I would like to note that my niece is a minor and that action alone was illegal. After I got the refunds, I walked out and the woman at the counter followed us out to say that I needed to pay the $50 for the time. I told her I wasn't going to as we had never agreed to that or signed anything stating so. I was absolutely appalled by the entire situation. I have never seen such terrible behavior from a business owner, and I work with a lot of them, daily. I don't say this lightly but clearly this woman should not be in business. They saw a young bride and thought they'd take advantage. Their behavior was borderline psychotic. I called the lady I usually use and she told me it would be $40 and she'd have it done within a week or two as she is backed up, but the alterations are so quick that it wouldn't take much time. I cannot stress enough to stay away from this place. Absolutely horrible. read more

Don't go, save yourself a frustrating experience and poor professional skills. I took a dress in for my son's wedding. After first missing her at the shop during normal business hours, the second trip she pinned dress to floor length wearing the same shoes I wore at the wedding and had me prepay. When I picked it up on my way into town my dog was in the hot car so I didn't try on the dress. Big mistake! She left the hem at least 3" too long! I was totally embarrassed by the extra long length at each step, especially the mother and son dance and photos of me looking like I had on a hot air balloon. When I called her, she said she'd redo hem at no charge. After trying on the dress for her to re pin, she said there'd be a charge as she didn't know what length I wanted. BS! I had told her I was walking off a lake dock and on the beach and needed it floor length so as not to trip, dance, enjoy the wedding! Did not thanks to her... and then further humiliation as she said it was the length I wanted. I did not give her a chance to ruin the dress with another incorrect hem, when she insisted to charge the full $75. Her attitude was unprofessional and she lied to me. She could have apologized, negotiated, but no, blamed all on me! DO NOT STRESS yourself with her unprofessionalism, stay away! read more

This place needs to be shut down. She is the WORST at running a business. I will never return and neither should other people. I brought my dress to her to be altered and it took her 3 weeks to get it done. Not only that, when I went to go get it back she was not there at the time and she was supposed to be there by 10am, so I called . No answer.. I called serval times and there was no response. When she finally got there it was at 4pm!!!!! I asked her for the dress and she said she didn't have time to get it done yet when it's been weeks for her to get it done!!!! I was so mad I took it and left. I will never return. No one should. read more

I asked the owner if she did suits and she said she use to make them. I took my suit in to be altered. She measured and said about 2 weeks.....well, 2 months later I am asking her about my suit which I had prepaid, of course, and she said she has been busy, doing suits next week and other excuses... I waited another 2 weeks before I sent my son to pick no matter done or not...How do people do business like this?.....there must be more reputable business'? read more

Alterations plus bailed on finishing my wedding dress two weeks before my wedding. It was so poorly done at my fitting 14 days before my wedding, I was horrified. When I voiced my concern, the owner Cheryl, offered me my money back. I explained to her this wasn't about the money but rather that I needed a dress and time was rapidly running out. I had previously tried contacting her so we weren't doing this at the last minute but her assistant Robin told me that Cheryl would call me when she was ready. The slip was sewn on backwards, the sleeves were sewn on backwards, she had lined it 6 inches too short and the waist cut across my bust as well as the shoulder seams were at my collarbones. She finally conceded that she could fix it and have it ready two days before my wedding. I elected to take my fabric and money and go elsewhere as I was so horrified by her "professional Skills" She told me that she felt "real bad" in a totally flat tone and never apologized for the enormous amount of stress she was causing. She also backed out on her word to reimburse me for the fabric that was purchased on HER recommendation. Do business with Alterations Plus at your own risk. This business has no problem breaking promises, not honoring business deals and leaving you hanging. read more
