Went in for a consult and was extremely disappointed. The lady was uninterested and was unhappy during the whole time. Any time I asked about adding something to the dress. She commented on everything that would have to follow that alliteration like a complaint. Not to mention we we asked for the price and she just disappeared until we had to ask for her. Terrible experience at Elegance Alterations. The girl who helped me was unprofessional, didn't listen to my concerns, and seemed uninterested in what I wanted. They charged $75 for a "steaming" that left my dress looking worse than before. When I asked for a refund, they argued that the dress was a "hard fabric to steam" and claimed they'd spent hours on it--it was "as good as it was going to get." I ended up buying a steamer myself, and it took me 15 minutes to get it perfect. Poor business practices, zero accountability. Save yourself the hassle and go to Cheryl at Alterations Plus--she fixed Elegance's mistakes and even steamed my dress again for free. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience today. On 4-19-2017, I dropped seven pairs of jeans off to get hemmed. A gentleman asked me to pay $105 upfront, which I did. Then, he told me to pick up my jeans on Wed., 4-26 after 12:00pm and he also wrote the same date and time on my receipt. It takes me 45 minutes to drive to their location. I showed up at 4:00pm on Wed., 4/26. When I walked in, the man from before told me that I would need to come back at 5pm because he only had two pairs of jeans finished. I was sad, but understood that people run behind. I let him know that it took me 45 minutes to get there and asked if 5pm was actually realistic for five more pairs of jeans, considering he originally estimated a week to hem seven pairs. Also, if they weren't going to be ready by five to please call me. A lady employee who was working with another customer blurted out, "It's not an emergency! It's just clothes!" At this point, I felt insulted and then decided to defend myself. I pulled out my receipt and said that I was just following the time written on the receipt! Also, I would have appreciated a phone call if it was going to take longer, which my phone number was also written on the receipt. She pointed to a sign in her shop written in chalk, "Pick up times are an estimate." I told her that notice was not on my receipt, nor was that told to me. Regardless, I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting for them to finish five more pairs of my jeans. I hope they are done correctly because they are very expensive jeans! One pair is Burberry and they cost me $280! I'll repost if they are ruined. Uggghhhh! The Burberry jeans were a .25" off. The gentlemen disagreed that the length of the pant legs were uneven. Thankfully, I brought my husband, so the male and female employees would be reluctant to lash out at me again. He made me try them on and told me they weren't uneven. Then, asked me to take them off and he would look at them. He laid them on the table and still argued that they weren't uneven. The female employee finally told him to get the tape measure out. (A tape measure doesn't lie.) It proved that they were a .25" off! He asked me to come back in another half an hour. I know there are bigger issues in life, but this is just annoying and I hope they can learn from this experience and treat their customers with more kindness! read more

My experience started off really well. The young girl working in the front was patient and helped me decide on an appropriate taper and hem for a pair of nice dress pants. She even commented on the high quality of the fabric. The alterations were completed on schedule. Unfortunately, when I wore the pants for the first time, I discovered a small hole in the fabric. I sent them a kind email explaining the issue. Elegance Alterations was quick to deny any responsibility and offered no support to make the situation right. I'm very disappointed. read more

I recently took in two jackets that needed specialized alterations around the collar and back. They aren't high end jackets and material, making the job more difficult. I am pleased with the job they have done. I will definitely go back and highly recommend them. read more

Since moving to the Boise area in 2010 I have visited Elegant Alterations multiple times and would never go anywhere else! Anna, Sergei and Sonia are so gifted and always do a BEAUTIFUL job with alterations. They are also very friendly, gracious and lovely folks, and ALWAYS considerate and professional. I have had alterations in New York, Chicago, LA and San Francisco, and I find the workmanship at Elegant Alterations superior to any other, and certainly the most reasonably priced for their EXCELLENCE!!! read more

UPDATE: I went back to have them do my wedding dress and they've done more pants since my initial review. I stand by my five stars. The lady, I wish I knew her name, is nice and does a great job. FINALLY...a tailor that doesn't make my pants too short. I love this place. I don't know why anyone would have the audacity to try and negotiate someone's price list for their business. This isn't like buying a car. If you don't like the price, go somewhere else. I've gone once and they were nice, professional and did great work. I'm very short and have tons of experience with tailor shops. Like any business, they set a price and I would be more than happy to pay $20 to get a zipper replaced from this lady, judging how she handled my pants. read more

I am in the process of having my wedding dress tailored at Elegant Alterations. They have been so accommodating with schedule, their prices are one of the most reasonable in town (I called for quotes), I am immediately greeted when I get there. They have done an amazing job and I cannot recommend them enough. The dress I brought in is vintage, from the 50s and fairly delicate, and also about 2 sizes too big, and they still did a fantastic job! They even let me and my mom who was visiting from NY come in and just try it on so she could see it. All of my bridesmaids have gone to get their dresses altered and have also had a great experience! read more

Was sent by middle school to have choir dress altered, the very rude female owner immediately got an attitude once being told we were sent there by the school. Very rudely stated there was "no way it would fit" over and over, saying she would "need more fabric and she doesn't have that fabric!" very angrily. Then stated it would cost $35 for her to even look at doing it, The cost is taken care of by the school but she wanted a $35 payment from us right then to even see about doing it. My daughter left in tears. Absolutely disgusting people. read more

A local Boise bridal shop recommended that I contact Anna for my wedding dress alterations. When I called the store, the person who answered the phone was very unprofessional and rude, and said that Anna was busy. I asked if I could leave my name and number for her and the person asked if I'd like to make an appointment. I said that possibly yes, but I'd like to speak with Anna first (I mean, don't you want to talk to someone first before making an appointment with them?). The person on the phone then asked, "why?" and I said "nevermind" and hung up. Guess they didn't want my business because they were really unfriendly! Glad I'm not taking my dress there. read more

Very disappointed in that they expect payment up front before service is provided. I disagreed and did not appreciate the negative conversation I had with the woman. Only reason we still left pants there was for my elderly fathers convenience. I do not live here and will highly recommend to dad not to return. Should not be that way at all. read more

Took some curtains here to be hemmed and it took 2 weeks and $20 per curtain (prepaid!) When we went to pick them up, the hem was visibly uneven. All they had to do was sew a 2 foot straight hem with a sewing machine ( a couple minutes max) and they failed miserably. When we said we wanted our money back since it would have to redone, they said they would redo them but would not refund our money as their policy is they "never provide refunds." Afraid they would ruin the curtains further and not wanting to wait any longer since we waited 2 weeks already as well as being extremely upset, we took them home & redid them ourselves. All our money was lost to a shady business as well as wasting a lot of our of time. Another couple was in there at same time complaining about their alterations as well, so beware! read more
