Update: The last few times I have gone to Wendy when I mostly needed dresses altered, I got such an exorbitant quote that I passed on her quote and returned. Went to some other alterations place and got the same done in less than half her final quote (which by the way also came after reasonable haggling). Agreed that Wendy would have done a relatively cleaner job on those dresses but man, her initial quotes can be so outrageous. read more

I found this place in Yelp. They got good reviews, so I gave it try. I brought a shirts need to be altered. I was told to pick it up in 3 weeks. I went there the date I was supposed to pick up. It wasn't ready yet. I told her that I don't live near here, I have to drive all way just pick up shirts. She apologized and gave me a free hemming coupon. I thought her job was good, not excellent. Thank you, thank you! Wendy did an excellent job with the coats and raincoats I took in to be mended. Not only did she mend them quickly for a reasonable price, but she reinforced them as well! Every item I took in had a stress point in the same place where the seams tore. She sewed them to their original look and then reinforced them to strengthen the stress point. Did I mention that these were all raincoats and coats for my greyhounds? She had no problem with that. And I'm very thankful. Why? Because during the past summer I had taken these same items to other places to be fixed, and as soon as they saw they were dog coats, they refused to work on them. I had a wedding dress that I bought from a knock off shop in China. Big mistake. It was hideous. Wendy completely remade it basically from scratch. It originally had a beautiful lace overlay that she kept, while completely removing the underlay and replacing it. She made it fit perfectly somehow, even though in the beginning it made me look like a box. She's incredible. She also hemmed some pants for my husband's suit and they were fantastic. Wendy is AMAZING!! I brought her my wedding gown to alter...not only did I need major hemming done, but the hem of my gown had lace on the bottom, which is not an easy feat to re-attach after taking up the dress. In addition, she had to let out the dress because I am expecting and would be almost 7 months pregnant by my wedding day. She worked magic and altered my dress so it was the perfect length and fit for my growing belly. She was funny and easy to work with...though the alterations cost more than my gown (though I did get a very reasonably priced gown)...it was well worth the money (especially since my dress was sooo complicated to fix) AND she finished it in less than three weeks! I'm so glad I found Wendy. I will be bringing all of my alterations to her from now on...she is a wizard with a sewing machine, needle and thread! Wendy knows her stuff! I came here over a month ago on the hopes that she could alter my suit for a wedding that I recently attended. Pressure was on because I was also a groomsman. Anyway, Wendy is very cheerful and has a very sassy/talkative dog that greets you as you walk in. I told her exactly what I wanted to do, and she also provided some input on things I probably did not need to do while I was wearing the suit. That goes a long way since she doesn't want you to overdo things and make you look super ridiculous in your outfits. So the lead time to get it done was about 3 weeks. Fast forward to the big day when I had to pick it up. When I tried on my newly tailored suit, it fit almost fit exactly how I wanted it to. Let's say that I was willing to admit I put on a couple pounds for wedding season instead of losing a couple, but nonetheless Wendy did a great job. I recommend checking this place out if you need to get something altered. I think the amount of time she quotes is reasonable, but then again you'd have to talk to her if you need something done sooner than later. Interestingly enough, she strongly prefers cash (even though credit card is accepted). If you can pay everything up front, she is strongly in favor of that too. read more

Wendy is amazing. I had my wedding dress altered by her, and it was a difficult job that turned out wonderfully. My dress is lace, and required carefully redoing the entire hem, thread by thread, and putting it all back together. In addition to the perfect job she did on the hem, Wendy built in a double bustle in the dress and slip beneath (her creation), and had the foresight to create attachments for the slip to the dress in the collar, and a hand hold for the train. She is incredibly creative and thorough. Because she is so good, I would plan ample time for her alterations... she is busy but will meet the quoted deadline. Wendy did a fantastic job altering my wedding dress. When I got the dress back in February (for my May wedding that is now June 2021 wedding...), I knew it'd take some work. Luckily, it fit almost everywhere, but needed the shoulders to be taken in and hemmed and...with a full length beaded dress, this was no easy feat. I just picked it up last week and Wendy did a BEAUTIFUL job. The hemming is perfect and is literally not a millimeter too short or too long. Just perfect. I took a vest in today to have some patches sewn on. The lady who helped me told me 4 weeks (busy with weddings) and $62 which is more than the combined vest and patch cost. Exorbitant cost, we'll see if the work warrants the expense. Her rating will go up or down accordingly (and return business). UPDATE: After thinking about it overnight, I stopped on my way home and canceled the job. You tell me, is $62 too much to see on 2 patches that are 1" X 4", 1 patch that is 3" X 4", and 2 rockers that are 2" X 8"? 5 patches total? Already lined up... 30 minutes at most... I do? Ridiculously so! And, the Mr. was there and wasn't too pleased about my initial review. But, everything I've said is truthful and accurate. I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS. THEUR PRICING IS EXCESSIVE AND SERVICE IS SLOW. ***Follow-up*** So, my vest is done at less than half of what Alterations Unlimited quoted. Hallee @ Bloomin' Stitchery did a great job! I'm a young woman, I'm particular about my jeans. Yesterday I brought in a pair of jeans and Wendy had them finished today as promised for $12! The seam is extremely well done inside and out, the measurement is precise. After I inspected the job, I went back to my car and handed her my favorite pair of jeans. Now that's trust! This review is long overdue, but Wendy was so amazing that I still haven't forgotten! I was in a wedding this summer and had to order my bridesmaids dress when I was 7 months pregnant. Needless to say the chest of my dress didn't fit (nursing). We live out of town so I picked up my dress two days before the Wedding. Wendy stayed an hour late so that I could go get fabric at JoAnne's and bring it back to her. I had absolutely no expectations and was already planning a backup. When I arrived the day of the wedding, I couldn't believe my eyes... That dress looked and functioned better than it was sewn originally. (Not hard to do being that it came from David's Bridal... Have never actually needed to use an alteration shop before, so relied fully on on my faith in fellow Yelpers here, and was pleased with the outcome. I had a t-shirt I wanted to hack the sleeves off of, and an overly long tank I wanted hemmed up a few inches (hello summer!). Got them back and would have never guessed that they weren't manufactured the way I specified in the first place - pristine work. I can't vouch for the price, but what she quoted seemed reasonable. I went to Wendy to get my wedding dress altered. She was able to alter it on short notice (2 weeks before the wedding). There was a rush fee, and it was expensive since it was on such short notice and she had so many other wedding dresses to alter, but I am glad she was able to alter my dress. The dress really fit like a glove. It was perfect. She is very good at her job and you can tell by going into her shop that her business is doing very well. The store was very small and Wendy was extremely friendly. She even showed me a few dresses she sewed herself. I will definitely recommend her to others. Wendy was very professional and did beautiful work. I was on a tight 10 day deadline. She had the work done on the fitting day. It fit beautifully, the panel behind the lacing matched nicely, and the beadwork was nice and even where it had to be taken in.
