The woman said Friday was the first apt they had. I said he needed to be checked today. She gave me the number of an emergency clinic that was in Grapevine (a considerable distance from both the clinic and myself) without bothering to find a closer one. I would expect a clinic with 5 vets would be able to squeeze in an urgent examination for an existing patient. Anyway, my 5 dogs are no longer their patients.

After Dr. Binford retired I went to another vet I had seen once when Binford was on vacation. He did complete exam, extensive blood work, and found hyperthyroidism. For Keith W. - Before coming to DrAfter Dr. Binford retired I went to another vet I had seen once when Binford was on vacation. He did literally nothing except take 2 unnecessary xrays (told him he had asthma and brought xrays taken just a couple months earlier) and prescribed what Dr. Binford had been giving him for over a year. Then he charged me twice what Rosemead did and 4x more for 15 pills. I went back to Rosemead and found the new vet totally competent. He did complete exam, extensive blood work, and found hyperthyroidism. For Keith W. - Before coming to Dr. Binford my cat had been misdiagnosed with diabetes. He was tortured with bi-hourly blood draws, insulin injections and diet he hated, for 6 weeks until I could get him to a specialist who determined he never had diabetes, but had been left on Prednisolone too long, which caused symptoms. So, erring on the side of diagnosing a lesser ailment until fully sure, rather than nearly killing him with harsh treatments he didn't need would have been better. Also, we spent over $2500 over those 6 weeks for visits, medication, equipment, etc

I also like that they were using chip and pin payments way before it was required by the credit card companies. This may seem like a nerdy thing to write about, but any time I see a business take the extra time to protect my information, it's appreciated.

Dr. Durham is fantastic; he is deeply knowledgeable and takes the time to thoroughly explain the issue, its cause, and the treatment plan. His educational approach completely eases my anxiety, and I completely trust his expertise. He is never judgmental and never pushes unnecessary extras like extra vaccines. I try to see Dr. Spratt because my dog's lengthy medical history, and she is still wearing a mask in 2023. (I am also still wearing a mask due to medical concerns and to avoid missing work and health care costs.) We did have an unscheduled medical need once on a Monday and the wait was two or three hours, but they immediately diagnosed and prescribed appropriate meds.

I would not recommend the veterinary services at Community Outreach. We brought both of our dogs in…read morefor cytopoint injections and wanted to discuss prescription dog food. We were told by the tech that each dog needed a separate vet visit, costing us $50 per dog. During the appointment, the vet discussed the prescription diet with us and stated he would prescribe it. However, when we later contacted the office to obtain the prescription, the experience with the front desk was extremely unprofessional and frustrating. I then received an email from the clinician stating that only one of my dogs had the prescription diet documented in the chart notes, but that the prescription "should be enough" to cover food for both dogs. Despite the fact that we paid for two separate vet visits, they refused to provide a second prescription for our other dog. The office then tried to justify this by saying the second dog had an ear infection and therefore "needed" the appointment anyway. The ear issue was simply an incidental finding and not the reason for our visit. We came in for prescription diet management, paid two exam fees as instructed, and still did not receive appropriate prescriptions for both dogs. This felt incredibly dishonest and like we were charged unnecessary fees without receiving the service we were told would be provided. Our pets are family, and it's disappointing to feel like profit mattered more than proper care or customer service. I highly advise pet owners to look elsewhere for veterinary care.
