The long bar is under renovation. Didn't look like anything was being done, but you couldn't sit there. My can of beer cost $8. Not sure what the frills were for that. definitely no ambience whatsoever . Honestly, if I could rate this a zero I would. My husband and I are staying at the hotel for the weekend and went down to the bar/restaurant Friday night. There were two other tables occupied. The waitress/bartender told us it would be a 45 minute wait for food. The menu was very limited and expensive. We only had two mixed drinks and decided to eat elsewhere. Our bill for the drinks was $33! It was definitely not worth the price. I also purchased the breakfast package that included breakfast both mornings. We were excited because the omelettes looked so good in the pics, HOWEVER, there was NO menu. Just a continental style breakfast "buffet" that included bland powdered eggs, undercooked bacon, overcooked sausage, and microwaved potatoes. Plus yogurt and assorted breads. It was terrible and I suggest they update the website because they didn't have a breakfast menu at all. The chairs were stained and the walls were dirty. So disappointing. read more

Sad face. The glassware was dirty and the bartender's mastery of drink making was at an apprentice level. Sparsely decorated and dated this place has seen much better days. Bite the bullet and take an Uber into downtown for a better experience. I walked into this place with the 2 terraces up to the bar and Holiday Inn restaurant wallpaper (although the Clowne Plaza is indeed related to Holiday Inn via IHG.) It looked underwhelming. Well prepare to be whelmed, or overwhelmed. They MAKE their own corned beef for their reuben. The steak salad my wife had was made with non-sinewy steak, actual tender steak. Then later at night my wife wanted wings as a snack and I was FLOORED. I wanted Thai chili wings but my wife overruled with the buffalo wings and this is going to sound so stupid - but from all my reviews you can see I mean it - these were the best wings I've ever had. They were fried, and then I think flame grilled (which made them amazing) and then the sauce blew my mind. I will literally order wings to go when we leave tomorrow, after I have wings for lunch. How in God's name does this milquetoast appearance restaurant have such amazing food?!? Holy cow this is a real hidden gem. read more

We hung out here after visiting Fantasticon. They weren't technically open, but they still allowed us to sit at the bar and have a few drinks. Super nice staff, Erica in particular was great. The prices for food seemed incredibly reasonable for a hotel restaurant/bar (burgers were anywhere from $9-11). Alcoholic drinks were a bit steep $8.00 for a Beefeater dirty martini, $11 for a double Bacardi rum and coke, and pints were $5.50 (choices for draft beer were good: Stella, Lakefront IPA, Fat Tire, Sam Adams Lager, and Miller Lite). The burgers were good, if slightly under seasoned. They cooked my burger rare, which is exactly how I like it. All in all, a nice little spot. read more

Wonderful service. She was so nice about the fact that I totally ordered the wrong item. But thank god I did because it was delicious. Steak was cooked exactly to medium, which is typically an issue. A lot of restaurants over or under cook it. Steak was a little tough which is why I substrates a star and I wish there were a little more veggies. We have been here several times. The chef knows how to make a steak, so yummy. Tonight we both had the 10 oz sirloin dinner, steak was done medium to perfection. You also get a side salad, which was very fresh or soup (we did not have today), and 2 sides. We ordered the buttery mashed potatoes, so gosh darn good, I had the beans and carrots, very good and a nice portion, he had the sauteed spinach and it was very good and a nice portion also. The dinners were $21 each, a good price for good food. Our server, Rubi was fantastic. Very attentive, yet not too attentive, just perfect. Thanks for the very good, special birthday meal. read more

A great place to stop for a drink and some food, Prime rib is real good and the steaks are awesome, Friday fish fry is great too. Good size menu with lots of tasty dishes. This is one of our special night out places to go. Staff is spot on a very friendly.......... Enjoy !!! read more

I'm giving it 3 stars strictly because the food was good but the service however was not. I sat in the bar seating area and had to go to the bar to ask for a menu, order my items, and had to flag down the hostess just to get a water. I was there for about 10 minutes before choosing to just go get a menu myself and you would think that after going to get the menu a server would come over but nope. Once my food came out( brought by the hostess) the serves never came to see how my order came out or if I needed anything else. The reason why I was truly offended so much so that I barely left a tip was the fact that a young lady walked in and was serviced immediately. I typically try not to get offended because I don't look like others and try to think the best of people but it seemed everyone else was getting service besides me and I was the only one that was different soooo. I've never seen any of these servers before and I frequent this hotel often and this is my first time experiencing this atmosphere. I will say the food has never let me down but today I will definitely be reconsidering going else where for my dining. The hostess by the way was very nice and helpful which is on trend for the rest of the staff at this hotel outside of the two bar servers I encountered tonight. read more

I am usually not a review writer, but it felt necessary this time. I eat a lot of burgers when I go out. I had the Milwaukee Burger last night and it was amazing. It might have been the best burger I have had (I don't say that lightly). I would definitely try it if you are in the area or staying in the hotel. Outside of that, beer selection was overage.
