Hanging out in Pilsen before our daughter finishes her residency at Northwestern Hospital, found Alulu and it is absolutely amazing! Very sophisticated menu in a Irish Moors lodge (think Bond Skyfall with moss adorned walls, natural wood tables and the votives were a great touch. Their beers are small batch brewed with staples always available, a huge variety. Honestly I've been to a lot of places and this is top 5! read more

A Pilsen gem!! Super casual and unique. They do have a limited menu on slower days (if you're here on a Monday you must get the zucchini fries). Favorite beer here wasn't on the menu but I believe it was a Guava Belgium. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We were able to snag a table outside on the patio. The inside of the brewpub is super cute, the woodwork is amazing! We ordered a round of beers and some sandwiches. I had a monte cristo and my friend had the BLT - both were incredibly yummy and came with crispy fries and an amazing pickle. Waited for like 20 minutes for a $13 cocktail that was literally just a Manhattan with Campari in it. My friend ordered an 'English bitter' that was too cold, too carbonated, and too not-an-imperial-pint to qualify as an English anything. Most of their beers are for some reason saisons. Why? Who knows. Maybe they think Europeans are fancy or something. I have nothing against gentrification but this place is fake and lame. read more

What a great place! I enjoyed every beer in the flight I got with a fav being the Odinplex Forest imperial milk stout. We share pierogis, beer bread and the pork cutlet. Fantastic beer menu makes me wish I ever drink more than one beer at dinner. Food was okay. I had a poutine-like dish that was good but very heavy. This is a cute little spot in Pilsen; however, we won't be going back despite the beers being fantastic. We particularly like the Earl Grey IPA. The outdoor seating is spacious and safe, and I appreciated the ability to order sushi from a server from the new spot next door. My husband ordered the mushroom burger from Alulu, which he said was delicious. My friend enjoyed the wings. The curds and fried zucchini were blah. However, there are multiple reasons we won't come back. 1) There are no servers at Alulu. All orders require one to wait in a long line. I'm not aware of any group that wants to disengage in conversation to stand in line for 20 minutes to get another round of drinks. 2) The manager blasted a NWA's Fuck the Police while beat cops were parked on Blue Island. My friend, who is a detective, approached the manager nicely and asked him respectfully to change the song. As he turned back to the table, the manager turned the sound up louder. My friend returned to the manager and again explained that we have been respectful and supportive, having spent nearly $500 at their establishment, and the least they could do, politics aside, was be equally respectful. The song was eventually changed, but the disrespect was egregious. read more

This place was the perfect spot to get out and grab dinner while still socially distancing. Their heated huts let you sit outside with lights and stay warm. Their burger was small, but their fries were great and they gave you a ton. They have a good selection of beers and the staff is helpful when you're not sure what you might like. read more

This place is casual and low-key. We came early on a Friday so the place wasn't packed. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, she gave us good food & drink recommendations. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, which was ok but the fries were delicious. I wasn't crazy about the beer I ordered (Belgian Wit) but my friend ordered the Watermelon Sour, which was amazing. We liked the pictures on the walls. Really good beers, comparable to the top breweries in Chicago with added ambiance and charm. Low key setting with very friendly staff who are quite knowledgeable about their brews. Try the cold brew coffee blended versions of the rue envy and the blonde ale! I will definitely be back and I recommend you try it out! read more

A hidden Pilsen gem, no doubt! Modern apartment renovated with rustic wooden accents, industrial lighting, and unique local artwork. Some of their vegetarians options are Filipino inspired, and most certainly deliver, served with the traditional vinegar sauce (suka). The food really ties it all together; I've had most of the menu at this point (it rotates at a good clip). What a cozy little place. Came with a friend before a show at Thalia Hall and had a great time. The server was very sweet and attentive. Bartenders were great. Instantly had a good vibe when we walked in which can always be hit or miss. All the beers we tried were great, and I think that might have been the best poutine Ive had in the city. I can't wait to come back here. The menu is very eclectic but somehow has everything I want. We got a cheese and meat plate with some very good whipped honey cheese, polish sausage, pimento spread, candied nuts, and peppers. I got a flight of beer and deeply enjoyed every single one. Nick's gimlet and Paloma we're both good. I had the "BKT," a play on the BLT with pork belly and kale. Nick had the House burger. The frites with onion dip were also addictive. I recommend this place for two reasons, beer and beer. With a rotating stock of new beers all brewed in house I'm sure you will find several to your liking. Very rarely do you find a place that can do vegan food well. Went to dinner with a friend who's vegan and we decided to order a couple small plates. We ordered the vegetable lumpia, vegan Sicilian jackfruit flatbread, and herb crusted beer bread. Everything was phenomenal!! This is definitely somewhere I will be going again. read more

Tried out alulu before heading to a show at Thalia. We had no food and no drinks so I can't review those but I can say the service was absolutely terrible. We waited at the bar (at the managers request) for about ten minutes while waiting for a table, and no one even acknowledged us. We then were sat at a table upstairs and finally left after 20 minutes of sitting there. The entire time we were there, we were never actually greeted by any server or other person employed by the establishment. We said something, nicely, to the manager on our way out and he rolled his eyes and condescendingly said "sorry guys!" This place could have the best food, beers, drinks, prices, ambiance, etc. in the word and you couldn't pay us to go back! read more

Such a cool place very hipstery under the glowy mason jar lights. My favorite beer was the champion fluffy because it was crisp and sweet. The mussels and frites were the highlight of the food we had. Music was bumpin and low enough so you can have a nice convo. 2 floors and plenty of beers. I am content with my visit to Alulu.
