The salesperson continued trying to close the sale twice by adding services while keeping the exact same price. When I questioned it, I was told this was a real person, not an automated bot. They were ready to leave and I wasn't sure how much was "normal" to be left. The yard still needs raking. Granted, these men had worked hard all day, but that's why we pay to get it done. If you have lots of trees, work out the price before they arrive. They do price based on the number of trees. Their automated text service contacted me first, saying they were already working in my neighborhood and had noticed that my trees could use a trim. I asked how much. Their special "neighborhood price"? $2,599. Naturally, I assumed that was a rounding error, considering we have only three trees and they had apparently already researched my property. Nope--roughly $2,800 after tax for three trees. Even allowing for a three-person crew, this should be about an hour's worth of work. That puts the quote at nearly $1,000 per labor-hour--or $1,000 per tree. This is yet another example of the absolutely diabolical pricing culture surrounding the Texas trades work. People have completely lost their minds. Go to Home Depot, buy yourself a pole saw and find a neighbor with a truck to haul away the branches. You'll still come out about $2,500 ahead. read more

CONSUMERS BEWARE - I live in Tarrytown (Central Austin), and I was contacted by a representative of this company via text message, telling me that my trees needed trimming. They informed me that they were out at my residence and inspected my trees. When I asked this person when specifically they were out at my house, they refused to answer. When I asked them what they thought was wrong with my trees (dead branches, limbs too long), they refused to answer. When I asked them which oak trees that they said needed trimming, they said "front and back." That was news to me because I have no oak trees in the back of my property. Furthermore, I checked the footage of my property cameras (which alert me when someone comes on or near the property line) and I could find no evidence of any inspection. Absolutely no one was out there as they indicated performing this inspection. I was notified however, that Always Green would only charge me the "neighborhood route rate of $2,599 all-in instead of the usual $3,200+" if I would agree to purchase this service. It is my opinion that this company tried to shake me down for services that were entirely unnecessary. If you have any questions about my experience, please contact me. Never shared. $2,500 to trim very thin and minimal branching over my roof is true lunacy. I can't imagine what kind of hatchet job they had in mind, and that is why I write this review. Have a certified arborist assess your situation. Too many tree trimmers are looking to cut with wild abandon. I do not believe that any certified arborist would suggest any work without actually having access to the tree. My experience is that's necessary - these folks didn't have access to my back yard - and I'd also expect, from past experience, for a clear explanation of why the work is necessary for tree health.
