1/19/20: Alzer's continues to be the best BBQ in Cedar Park. They are not a brick and mortar. They consist of 3 trailers in the parking lot of the Shell station. They brisket has a perfect smoke flavor. Their bbq sauce is a little sweet and an excellent compliment to the smoke barbecue they serve. I often get the sausage sandwich. Good flavor and nice consistency. Sausage is not over ground like so many places make or buy. If you have not given Alzer's a try because they are just trailers in a parking lot, you are missing out. You order at the counter here and then wait for your name to get called. They were getting things made pretty quick. We ordered turkey, brisket, beans, creamed corn and Mac and cheese. I'm a huge fan of BBQ sides and theirs were really good. The Mac and cheese is very creamy and smooth. The beans were flavorful. My sister didn't like the onions in them because it gave a crunch but I didn't mind them at all. The creamed corn was sweet and similar to one of my other favorites from a competitor. Not giving five stars as I only tried the Turkey. New location .. clean and friendly. Ordered a single turkey sandwich with beans. The turkey was moist and packed tons of flavor. The bbq was lacking however. It was almost directly from the sweet baby rays since bottle. I even poured some and put them side by side. Same viscosity, flavor. I don't mind cause that shit is good lol. The beans were fair as well. I'll definitely go pack. I want to try the game hens and lamb. This place is basically a halal bbq spot and I'm pumped. Absolutely delicious, not sure about pricing (thought it was expensive but idk the standard) the service was very very good, the ribs were decent but the brisket was delicious, soooo soft and the perfect amount of fat and meat. Also the ribs?? They didn't have a desi or American flavor but I was surprised at how delicious and flavorful they were without "masala". I came here because of the glowing reviews but left disappointed. While I didn't try the brisket, I did sample the chicken and two kinds of sausages, enough to know that these guys don't know what they are doing. The chicken was dry and was prepared amateurishly, and the beef sausage lacked flavor. The lamb sausage was tasty, but it didn't match the photo on their site--rather than being served in a tightly wrapped tortilla as a pig in a blanket, it came just inside a tortilla, which doesn't really add much. Good place for halal Texan BBQ. We had brisket, ribs and quail, and everything was nicely marinated/smoked. The meat in general was tender - the kind that just melts in your mouth. I personally liked ribs the best as they were tender and flavorful. You also gotta love their special Alzer's sauce. My daughter brought me here for Father's Day and we had a very enjoyable time each of our sides were wonderful and the lamb sausage with jalapeno cheese was great as was the brisket. I have been hearing about Alzer's for a few years now, but had not gotten a chance to try. A few months ago, we finally went in. They have items on the menu that most BBQ places don't. Quail? Lamb chops? My family dove in face first. I'm not big on lamb, but theirs is amazing! I prefer brisket, and theirs in so moist and flavorful, it really doesn't need sauce. One evening's order will feed us at least twice. Also, if you order online and they run out of something they call so you can make a different choice. I've ordered online other places and walk in expecting my full order only to find out then that they were out of something. This place has such great food and the family is just wonderful! I almost don't want to tell people and keep it a secret, then I end up wanting to tell people to watch someone local do well. I haven't been to any other BBQ places around town in months. read more

I have been reading the review for this BBQ truck for a while. Held off going because I kept thinking they are pricey for BBQ. The unique items finally won me over to try them. Upon seeing three Alzer trucks, it confused me. I assumed the one close to the street was for advertising and catering. I parked near the other two. One was for ordering and receiving the food and the one in the back was smoking the meats. The people taking the orders were super friendly. I ordered a half of Cornish hen with green bean side. The freebies I got were pickles and I passed on the bread. They packaged the meal really well, no spillage. After unwrapping all the food, I dug in. The green beans were okay. No taste of bacon, onion, nor salt. Kind of bland. I pulled the leg off the hen. No crisp to the brown skin but its BBQ not roasted. I ate it anyway. The meat was moist but not juicy. You could taste the smoke. I forgot how small a Cornish hen is. Not much meat. So the food was good but it didn't wow me. I will try it one more time for the lamb read more

Very unique BBQ. No pork on the menu. Instead they have lamb, beef, turkey, and quail. my family of 4 and I decided to give this place a try today. We loved the food. Brisket was awesome. Some of the best bbq beans I have had, and the beef rib was amazing. The star was the lamb jalapeño sausage. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very comfortable. Wow! We were regulars when it was just the trailer and went one time when it first became a brick and mortar. I guess we just weren't in the mood for smoked meat for quite a while. Today the meats we SO GOOD! We tried the lean brisket, moist brisket, turkey & lamb sausage and everything was spot on. First off, BBQ turkey for the win! Lots of places around town only serve chicken pork and beef. So I was super happy to see Turkey on their menu. I called to ask questions about ingredients in their sides and again was delighted because all their sides are vegetarian. Score! I got there and ordered at the window and the quickly brought it out to me when it was done. Everything was well packaged and I was provided with everything I needed...even a mint for after the meal. EVERYTHING was delicious. My only disappointment was that it was Sunday and I didn't get larger portions...so I have to wait until the weekend to go back for more. :) read more

I decided to try one more time today after watching the pitmasters while sitting in the line at CVS. I picked up a 1/2lb of moist to go. It was sliced pretty thick but perfectly for the doneness. Bark, ring, flavor, smokeyness, tug, chew all really good. I really enjoyed this serving. I haven't really liked Alzer's in the past but based on this I'll be giving them another try soon. This is the best BBQ in Austin and goes head to head with Franklin's (without the wait) in my opinion. The brisket falls apart when you pick it up and melts in your mouth. Decent if you're craving bbq and you live close by or are driving by, but it's definitely not a must have in Austin. I asked for the fatty brisket and it was alright, I found myself dipping it in the bbq sauce cause it doesn't taste like much... the bbq sauce is not good either just store bought stuff probably. The quail was seasoned well and I liked the seasoning but the meat was way too dry. The Mac and cheese was pretty good and the bbq is cheaper than most places so thats a plus. My two brothers and I had lunch there for the first time. I agree the staff is very nice and friendly. But this is not "our kind" of BBQ and we won't go back. First, there is no pork of any time (someone said the owners are Jordanian) which is OK, but I prefer pork sausage and pork ribs to beef. The beef sausage is dry tasting with too much black pepper for my taste. I was unable to try the beef ribs since you have to buy at least a half rack, so I can't comment on them. The beans are very, very sweet - like the canned baked beans you buy in the store. The BBQ sauce is also very sweet. The brisket was good and my brother liked the turkey and the corn he had. We never could get the salt grinders to work but there are packets of salt we were able to use. The macaroni tasted good and is very cheesy, though it came out lukewarm, like this review. BBQ is a matter of taste and I would not argue with anyone who likes the food here, but it is not for us. read more

I had a chopped brisket sandwich that tasted great and was very tender and moist. Just the right amount of Smokey flavor with a side of sweet sauce. My wife had a sliced turkey sandwich and said it was the same. We each had a side of potato salad which was very good as well. Of course it is outside dining or "to go" but they have a few covered picnic tables set up for your convenience. Interesting also that they provide catering service. The brisket was not tender. (I have smoked 3 to 4 times better briskets using average briskets from Randalls in my Kamado smoker than what I had at Alzer's.) There were no smoke rings on the brisket or the Turkey. The Turkey tasted like it had been cooked with charcoal brickets using lighter fluid. It had a funky taste to it. The sides were good. But people go to a BBQ place for the meat, not necessarily the sides. We were really disappointed because this restaurant is just a ways down Cypress Creek Road from us, so it would have made it really convenient. They just opened this location, so I might normally give them a pass, but I know they've been selling BBQ out of a food truck for quite some time before opening this location. read more
