One of the few halal Texan BBQ spots in the area. We did takeout, so not sure about the service. Did the medium family order: 4 pounds of meat, 3 large sides. We tried brisket, beef ribs, and beef sausage. Sides were potato salad, creamed corn, and mac and cheese. Came with complimentary bread, pickles, and onions. The price was a hefty $140, but between 6 people, it came to about $23 per person, so I think that's pretty fair for Texan BBQ. Of the 3 meats, beef sausage was my fav, it had jalapenos in it and had quite the kick! The beef ribs, while not winning any awards, were good as well. My only criticism is that it amounted to 3 beef ribs, so we had to split each rib between 2 people. The brisket was supposed to be a mix of moist and lean with some burnt ends, but it leaned mostly lean. I would've liked more of the juicy cuts, and I didn't see any real burnt ends. It was decent, but I've had better. For my fam who only eats halal meat and hasn't had other Texan BBQ, they loved each and every piece of meat, so overall it was a great success. Everything was seasoned really well, and nothing was dried out. The sides were all really impressive. Everyone loved the creamed corn and potato salad. The mac and cheese here was better than at some other, more well known BBQ joints in the Austin area. I wish I'd read some of these reviews prior to ordering, I would have tried some of the lamb items that seem to have some fans. That'll be for next time. Even if you're not looking specifically for halal options, I think it holds its own among other BBQ joints in the greater Austin area in this tier.

I was craving BBQ, but was my craving get fulfilled? The service was friendly and there was a bit of a line. However my wait was not very long. There is no waitress, you order at the counter. Even though I didn't get the quail, I'm glad they had it on the menu. I got the brisket with green beans and BBQ beans. My sides were okay. The sides needed more love. The brisket was good, but I wish it was a little more juicy. Overall the flavor was fine . I can see myself coming back for the quail.

It's been a while since I did a review and a couple of months since I've been by to eat or get food to go. Nothing has changed !!! It's still a very solid BBQ place where EVERYTHING is delicious !!!! This barbecue restaurant sits in a short strip center which includes a nail salon, liquor store, bake shop, and physical therapy. I was going to get the barbecue trifecta, but they do not serve St. Louis or baby back ribs. As many yelpers have pointed out, this is Halal, so no pork ribs. I got here on a Sunday around one, and there was only 4 people total in the restaurant, which means you probably never have to worry about standing in a line out the door baking in the sun like some places. The good: The brisket had a good smoke ring with a crust and was done right. The sliced turkey was very tender with just the right amount of seasoning. I like the fact that everything was wrapped separately with the pickles, onions, bread and barbecue sauce included. However, I did not get any utensils or napkins. The"OK": I got the half chicken and at first glance, it was so small I thought they gave me a quarter of chicken. At least this small bird was fairly tender, somewhat moist and well smoked. Nonetheless, it was still kind of disappointing. The sausage was firm, yet dryish with a nice jalapeño spiciness, but it was the size of a long hotdog. The only real turn off was their overly sweet pudding-like barbecue sauce. Overall what I purchased sits around the 3 1/2 to 4 star range, but they lose a half a star for their sauce. And finally, yes, the tip screen will be waiting for you. I didn't bother with any of their sides. I'll let everyone else talk about those. It's the meat that gets you through the door, not the sides. I hear their beef ribs are good. You can bring your own beer (BYOB approved) and wine here since they don't sell it. They do have water and soft drinks. It's a place I would try again. Check out the informative photos below. 31/2*

One word: lamb. Lamb ribs, lamb sausage, jalapeño cheddar lamb sausage. I don't know anyone else in Austin doing lamb sausage. It's amazing.... such a great flavor! Halal BBQ done right!

Great environment and very hospitable crew, I got the 1/4 Brisket Sandwich, Cream Corn and drink for 2. The brisket was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the sweet and smoky notes of the barbecue sauce. The cream corn was a delightful side, rich and creamy, adding a comforting touch to the meal. As I enjoyed my food, the staff frequently checked in to ensure everything was to my liking, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a satisfying meal that left me eager to return and try more of their delicious offerings.

Have you eaten bbq that is so great that you forget to take pictures of the food before you eat it. This happened to me today!? I went to the Gold's gym holiday party where Alzer's was served (brisket, sausage and turkey with green beans, Mac and cheese, beans, potato salad, and cream corn). All the bbq was flavorful and super moist. I'm a devout non-beef eater! The brisket was visually appealing so, I got lured into trying it. OMG it was good, I had seconds! The turkey was a convergence of moist and flavorful. The sausage was just ok. Note, to the sides - cream corn (buttery sweet), Mac n cheese (soft and oooy gooey God), beans (sweet and tangy) potato salad (real potatoe creamy explosion) & green beans (crunchy). Since I was at a holiday party no service was rendered. The price was great...free!! We ate at the gum so only sweat vibes. I definitely try Alzer's on another occasion.

I went here today for the first time. I ordered several different things. I ordered moist brisket, smoked turkey, a half chicken, quail, potato, salad, and green chili, white cheddar macaroni. Overall, I was very impressed with everything. The food was Excellent ! Definitely five stars hands-down !!!!! Definitely a must try !

Great service and the best brisket in my life! The brisket just falls apart on your fork. I liked it when General Manager checks on you to see if it is good. Definitely going back on a weekly basis while I'm in town.

My husband and I enjoyed lunch here. He had the half rack of lamb and creamed corn. I had 1/3 brisket plate and Mac and cheese. I like my brisket moist and I was not disappointed! My husband never had lamb before and he said the smoked flavor was excellent. The creamed corn was good with enough seasoning to make it different from other creamed corn. The Mac and cheese was velvety smooth. The pickles on the side gave a nice crunch and a little sharpness that enhanced the meal.

It appears you don't need to have a Michelin star to make great BBQ. Alzer's brisket is extremely tender and juicy! Their beans are not the typical beans many restaurants serve; not overly spicy, but full of flavor. The service is prompt and friendly. Definitely on my list for BBQ!

Very good BBQ from an unexpected location! Drawn by the cloud of positive Yelp reviews, I stopped by on a sunny, breezy day to try out this food truck's fare. Ordered a couple off the less-common items in Texas BBQ - the half Cornish Game Hen and the Beef Ribs, with a side of corn and beans. Both were cooked to tender fork-ability, and the Game Hen had a nice smoke flavor all through the meat. The beef ribs were a surprise - unlike the Fred Flintstone style brontosaurus ribs, these are more like Asian short ribs. Seasoning is a little puzzling, there's some sweet and herbal notes - maybe even sesame! - that I haven't come across in other Texas BBQ. To my palate it seems a little more Middle Eastern or even Asian. The corn is unremarkable, but props for the beans. Again, a surprise. Rather than a typical BBQ bean, these are more sweet and sticky, like a serving of Boston Baked Beans. I'd eat these alone or with a hot dog on a cold winter morning and love it! This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. I worry sometimes when a great food truck moves to a brick and mortar location. Nothing to worry about here though. I did a quick lunch on their Thursday soft-opening, and then came back yesterday for some extra goodies for super bowl. Same great smoke. Same great flavor. Same friendly service. Same incredibly tender brisket, turkey, lamb, & quail. read more

It's Father's Day and I had no energy to bbq!!! Lol!!! We stopped at Alzer's BBQ and man was it good!!! The bbq chicken was fall of the bone awesomeness!!! Have done take out at the trailer several times and glad to see the new location so gave it a try. They do the birds really well. Turkey is some of the best in the area. Chicken is good. Quail is nice to see on the menu. Sausage is solid. Lamb, I have yet to try. As some others have commented, skip the brisket. It's moist, but more crock-pot / slower cooker moist. Would be good on a sandwich with sauerkraut, No smoke flavor, the meat didn't stand alone and required sauce. The sauce works for the brisket, but not the birds. For example, the flavor for the turkey is very good, but overwhelmed by the sweet sauce, turkey doesn't need sauce though. Sides are all good, the potato salad and green beans especially. The BBQ beans are baked beans, not the traditional Texas pinto beans. Tea is good too. 3 1/2 stars for me. With Interstallar and Stiles Switch in the area, competition is tough. But it beats Smokey Mo's and on par with Rudy's in most ways. read more

Born and raised in Texas so I truly appreciate great BBQ. I will say, this is HANDS DOWN the best BBQ place in the North North Austin / Cedar Park area. The brisket is my absolute top favorite but I also love the smoked turkey... and I usually would never even go for that at most BBQ places. But at Alzer's... it is so good. So flavorful, you can truly taste the smoke and so juicy. You absolutely have to try it. They also have phenomenal sides... which are a MUST for any solid BBQ joint. Potato salad and macaroni are my fav. We are regulars here and we plan to continue to come back!! read more

Family of 4 ate here on a Saturday around noon. It's a food truck beside a Shell station. Ordered 1.5 lb meat family meal for $31 which came with any combo of basic meats and 4 small sides. We chose brisket, sausage and smoked turkey. We added a half rack of lamb for $11. The smoked turkey was excellent. All the meats were good. Green beans were excellent, coleslaw and potato salad were both very good. Corn wasn't that great. Came with white bread (with heels which was odd), pickles, onions, sauce. They have picnic tables with corn hole games and open field behind which was nice b/c we had our dog with us. Service was friendly and they gave our dog a treat read more

Food wise, the brisket was very tender, not too much fat and the chopped beef sandwich was delicious. Personally, I like pinto beans as my bar b que beans and Alzer's has baked beans they call "bar-b-q beans". Tasted like Bush's baked beans with extra sweetness. Next time I'll try the lamb chops. Amazing BBQ spot and highly recommend. Had the brisket and beef ribs, both were very good. Also tried the mac and cheese, potato salad, and cream corn and all sides were great. Everyone working there was very friendly. Almost everything on the menu is Halal certified so major plus. Will definitely come again next time in Austin. read more

The only downside is that it's not open 24/7!!! Best brisket by FAR in the North Austin/Cedar Park area - and the smoked turkey is some of the most moist I've ever had. Don't love the sauce (I prefer Salt Lick's but the meat honestly doesn't need any) but that's the only thing I don't love. The real reason to make this trip tho is the baby lamb lollipops - HOLY Sweet baby Jesus are these AMAZING! Only place in all of Austin that offers these - and let me tell you, you DEF want to get at least 2#'s when you go - bc everyone in the house will be tucking in on these little guys - freaking delicious!!! Will be back again and again and again! Thanks guys! read more

This is a gem bbq in north Austin. My family love it since they started from a food truck. It is top three bbq store in my heart. I always order the moist brisket, sausage and lamp chop. Very delicious. Their cream cheese corn are also good. A must try store. read more

Excellent BBQ and sides. The owners are super friendly and really go out of their way to make sure you enjoy the food .I felt I was with friends at a BBQ gathering. The prices were good considering the transportation situation.will definitely recommend this place and is now my go to for BBQ in Cedar Park. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed. QUARANTINE/DOORDASH Order: First time ordering, got the Brisket Sandwich with Cole Slaw and the Rib Plate with Potato Salad and 1/3 lb Sausage and 1/3 lb Brisket added on. It was all so good. It cured our BBQ craving - only thing is now we want more!! The sandwich was so delicious. At first the ribs seemed like they didn't have much meat, but it was great! They don't skimp on the sides or sauces. Can't wait to get them again! read more

This was a magical and very convenient find on our way out to Jonestown. We wanted to-go barbecue to take with us to the lake. As we were driving down 1431 I stumbled across Alzer's. I placed a to go order through the Yelp app - brisket, turkey, green beans and corn. Our order was projected to be ready 11:45. We arrived at 11:37 and our order was ready to go. Both sides were very tasty. The turkey was moist with a great smoke flavor. Brisket was also moist. They provided all the extras - onion, jalapeños, pickles, and bread. They do have a picnic set up for dining if you're looking to to stop. We didn't but it's available. Side note, they offer lamb shanks which I thought was a nice twist. I'll have to come back for those. read more

Ok, this place is good... real good. They have quail for goodness sakes!! Don't be deceived by the location, next to a gas station, as they have 3 trailers in the spacious parking lot. They work out of one trailer and I believe the other two were smokers. Some picnic tables to sit at and that's about it. The Q was delicious. I got the brisket and the quail. Yeah, quail and it did not let me down. Not overly prices like most places that serve quail. It was smoked perfection. Even the little legs and wings were fantastic. The Brisket was pretty darn good too. They asked if I wanted wet, dry or medium and while I normally would say wet, I went to meet in the middle and chose medium. The best of both worlds. Things on the menu that I really wanted but couldn't get: Lamb chops!! cornish hen. This on top of the usual bbq menu items, turkey, brisket, sausage, etc. Overall, this place was well worth the visit and I'd love to go back and try those other items I missed out on. read more

Holy cow. They knock it out of the park. Greta people, great service, great food. Thought it would be fast food or worried it would be dry, and NOPE. I almost hate to leave this review because I don't want to see lines out the door making me wait for some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. We ordered the family pack today for lunch. $50 for 2lbs of meat and 3 sides is very reasonable especially with the cost of meat these days, I have paid a lot more at Rudy's. The BBQ reminds me of the old school BBQ my grandfather used to make at family gatherings. Some places over season their meat making it too salty. Alzers is perfect and has a great smoked flavor with the perfect amount of seasoning. We had brisket, sausage, and Turkey. I can't decide which was my favorite as they were all fantastic. Sides were cream corn, beans, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. All sides were equally as good. The staff and service was top notch as well. Already can't wait to go back again. I took clear photos because it looked like a foreign particle or possible contamination. I brought it back and spoke with the person at the counter, who said he was the manager. Instead of checking the food, investigating what it was, or showing real concern, he told me it was probably from the grocery supplier and that all he could do was give me a refund or replace the food. I asked if I could speak with someone else or get any kind of follow-up on what actually happened, but he said there was nobody else to talk to and that was the only solution. The tone felt dismissive and rude, and there was no apology or reassurance that the issue would be looked into properly. I did receive a refund, but the way the situation was handled was not acceptable for something that looked like a possible food safety issue. I'm seriously considering filing a food safety complaint because customers should not have to push this hard just to have a contamination concern taken seriously.

I brought some home to my family because they sell tubs of hummus to go (for a similar price to what you could get at HEB, actually, and much better) and they ate it all within minutes. This has been a regular thing too. During lent I would order a lentil soup, pita, and falafel side that totaled at just under $6. This is an incredible price for how good it is. The falafels are genuinely the best falafels I have ever tried, crispy (but not hard) on the outside, and fluffy (not soggy) on the inside. Flavor was amazing. Just last week I ordered a lamb kebab plate. Folks, be prepared if you order this. This meal is HUGE. The lamb was heavenly, and I was really happy that they grilled the kebabs with some onions and peppers, really added flavor. The kebabs are made to order, so they're always fresh. I wanted to have their BBQ several times before I posted a review but now that I've had it at least 6 times since they opened the restaurant, I have confidence in what I'm going to say. I will preface that I'm a BBQ connoisseur having been born and raised in a large family of BBQ cookers and eaters. First off, this is a family owned and run business that really cares about its customers and it's pretty noticeable the minute you walk in. We've tried just about everything on their menu and we have yet to be disappointed in any of it. We've taken friends there to try it out and have shared our food with others and we've all the same conclusion, it's amazing! The meat has a rich smoky taste that you can tell was cooked for hours, but it's not over done with smoke. Very tender and moist, especially the brisket, but all their meat has just been amazing. If you go early enough you might be able to get some chicken which to me is award-winning! We love it!! My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE their macaroni and cheese so I usually load up on that as well. When you consider the friendly staff, amazing BBQ and sides, and just as importantly, the price, it can't be beat! I'd put their food up against Smokey Mo's, Rudy's, Stiles and Switch, etc. and considering everything, Alzer's would be my choice every time. This family knows what they're doing, true authentic Texas BBQ! We are lucky to live a few blocks away but trust me, even if you live in Austin, Leander, or Round Rock, you need to get you some of this good stuff! Just went there for the first time. Got a pound of brisket, pound of ribs, .5 pound of sausage, green beans and potato salad. Got home and immediately started digging in with the family. After we started eating, I realized that I didn't have the sausage. I must have left it. I called their number to ask about it and the owner drove it over to my house and gave us an order of smoked quail for free. What amazing service. The food was great. All of the food as a nice spice to it. The quail was a little spicy but still manageable with great flavor. My only complaint is the ribs were just a bit tough. Flavor was still good, though. I'm super stoked to have such a great place so close to us. My only concern is that they'll explode and want to move closer to Austin. However, after asking them about that, they told me they've lived in CP for 20 years (all of their kids went to HS here) and are lifers. My recommendations: Get one of the family platters. We got a family platter plus another pound and have quite a bit left over. The 30$ family plate is 1.5 pounds of meat with 2 large sides. My family is myself, wife and 3 year old. We also have a 4 month old but she's nursing and can't experience the greatness yet. read more

I am comparing to other BBQ places around Cedar Park that I have visited. I think it has a great value meal - it is reasonably priced. Has wide variety of dishes (more that others). There are lots of BBQ places around, but if you're looking for something different/better than the rest, go check out Alzers! My first time trying lamb chops and they didn't disappoint - very tender with a great smokey flavor. Beef ribs also excellent and a nice variety of sides.
