First of all, the Bishop Arts District itself is incredibly charming. Block after block of unique shops ranging from bookstores and bakeries to candle shops, candy stores, coffee spots, and little boutiques. As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.

I didn't realize it was a full service restaurant so I went directly to the register to get a matcha- they recommended the seasonal Guava Matcha. Delicious, not too sweet and really refreshing. While waiting the cafe was packed and everyone seemed to really enjoy their food so I ordered a flan de cafe. Once again, delicious! The staff was super attentive and nice! I have to go back soon with a bigger appetite and fully enjoy the beautiful space, food, and more drinks. I appreciate the close attention to detail from the cups & plates to the art on the wall- everything contributed to the aesthetic and vibe of Xaman cafe.

My friends and I enjoyed two types of two; my favorite being the Berry Garden tea made of white tea with a blackberry infusion. The teas are available for purchase in their tea library section, along with the tea steeper cups as well. $13-14 for the loose tea bags (makes up to 80 cups) and $6 for the mini steepers. I highly recommend visiting this place whether you do the tea experience or not it's such a cute spot in Bishop Arts and we got to meet the chef and our waitress, both were so friendly and personable.
