Our fist meal on the Island was simply spectacular! After getting settled in our Villa, we were starving from a long travel day. We walked around the lower level of the hotel and found Ama Ama. After looking over the menu, we decided to stay here and eat. We were told there was a short wait, so headed next door for drinks and appetizers to get started as it was fairly late (about 8:30 PM local time, but 10:30 PM in our bodies and minds). After sitting and ordering in the bar next door, we were notified that our table was ready. We sat down on the patio facing the lagoon and ocean. What a way to start a vacation! I ordered the Grilled Pork Chop. It was cooked to perfection and had endless flavors. It was served on a bed of rice and came with a sauce that added another dimension to the food. My wife ordered the seafood curry. A nice blend of seafood including fish, shrimp and a few other selections that I can't recall. Again, the flavors were dynamic and delicious. The service was friendly from the begining. My only concern was the wait for our food. Although it may have been that we were overly hungry and tired from travel, it seemed to take a really long time to get our entrees. Then just two days before, I called to make sure our table for 2 was positioned with the best view of the lagoon and also mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our table did not disappoint! For drinks, hubs went with a non-alcoholic strawberry-guava drink and I had the Tropical Mai Tai for $12. Woah! Stir it up well because it was a lil on the strong side (at least they don't skimp out on the liquor). For Starters, we had the Shrimp Ceviche and Kahuku Crab & Corn Chowder. Folks. Listen up. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CHOWDER. It's fabulously delicious!! For our entrees, we ordered the Angus Burger and the Catch of the Day. Plain and simple.....nothing to pack up and bring home (or leave behind). So good! Fresh and delicious! Lastly, in celebration of our 19th Anniversary, we ordered the Mocha Chantilly Cake nicely decorated and on the house (yep, complimentary!). IT WAS SO GOOD!! 3/24/2015. This was first time ever-stepping foot into the magical place of Aulani. I did not just go alone, I brought a friend with me and we both had a magical experience. We also took a picture with stitch! After checking in with our reservation, the waiter showed us to our table. Our table was in viewing near the beach, so we had a nice relaxing view (yes, we had shade under a patio--no sun glaring) of the calm water washing back to shore with the ambiance of people walking around. We had a cheerful and bubbly server named "Wainee", she was a delight! Wainee was doing her introductions and made us feel like tourist even though we were having a one day holiday stay-cation. For our appetizers, We ordered the Ahi Tataki and Shrimp Ceviche. Ahi Tataki - was a light and tasty dish with garlic crispy chips garnished with a light salad which consisted of daikon, carrots, and sumida watercress. Shrimp Ceviche - think of it as chips and dip (salsa/lomi salmon but shrimp). These came with spiced corn tortilla chips with the right amount of seasoning. Yum! Wainee already sold us on our entrees' which were the "Catch of the Day" along with the "Daily Local Plate Lunch". During our time here, the promotion was something with "forbidden rice" and let me tell you that "forbidden rice" was so onolicious no wonder it was forbidden from us eating it all the time. I got the Daily Local Plate Lunch Special which had mochiko chicken, mac salad, and tofu soup. This is my favorite part....DESSERT! My friend and I both got one each of the Tropical "Shave ice" Parfait and shared the Mocha Chantilly Cake. Tropical "Shave ice" Parfait - was served in a cute little see through glass with lilikoi bubbles (pearls) that pop in your mouth with vanilla ice cream along with guava granita topped off with white chocolate crunch. If you want something light and refreshing this is one to go to. Mocha Chantilly Cake - it was sufficient for 2-3 people to share and was just right for the two of us. OMG! You need to end your meal with this. This has Coffee Kanten, Coffee Anglaise, Macadamia Nut Nougatine, and Chocolate Gelato. Once you cut into this cake, there is a molten lava liquid chocolate that oozes out to go along with the cake. Every bite is rich and decadent for the sweet tooth lover. A definite must have!!! My stay here was pleasant and enjoyable and I am willing to make the effort to come back here again. Mocha Chantilly Cake, HERE I COME! Listen, it's Hawaii so they could dress up a quarter pounder and I'd probably give it three stars. I'm a believer that your state of mind has something to do with your dining experience. That said, and in the spirit of objectivity while in paradise, Ama'Ama was excellent. Drew, our server, was attentive and knew the menu well. Very good waiter. For apps we had the lobster mac n cheese and the poke ahi (ahi tuna sashimi cubed and formed into a brick with some light ingredients mIxed in - very fresh and flavorful). For dinner we were carnivores - my wife had the pork chop on top of coconut rise and a Polynesian peanut sauce accenting the flavors. Really excellent. I had a huge filet mignon with braised short rib meat on top. Wow! Served with puréed potatoes, this was serious comfort food - more of what I'd seek on a winter's day but it was great on this somewhat humid Oahu evening. What a great experience, been from Florida we never imagen finding a little Disney Magic in Hawaii. The steak and the chimichurri was spectacular! The cook was a perfect medium rear and the three potatoes where a great compliment to it. My husband and I went for a dinner on our honeymoon a couple months ago and we're highly anticipating it since it was closed on our last Aulani trip. While the ambiance is beautiful, unfortunately we were highly disappointed. The risotto we ordered was underdone and crunchy and when we asked for it to be redone our server mentioned that the chef refused because they would just make it the same way. We also ordered our steak medium rare plus and it came out absolute rare- this we didn't need a redo on as it wasn't as big of a deal, but we did want to mention it as constructive criticism is important for improvement. Our server stopped taking care of us (no warm towels or truffles that were given to every other table). Definitely not going back and would not recommend. Very sad as Aulani is a regular visit for our family and and a recommended resort for us. read more

This is the beach front restaurant inside the Disney Aulani resort. We decided to go for a sit-down breakfast on our last day here. We waited for about 15 minutes before we were seated which was a long time since the place was fairly empty. We ordered 2 orders of the pancakes with macadamia nut sauce, and eggs Benedict, the mickey waffles and eggs, bacon and fruit from the kids menu. The macadamia nut sauce was unique. Eggs benedict were okay. The kids loved the mickey waffles. Everything tasted okay. Food came out pretty fast though which was a plus cause the kids can't sit that long. We were expecting a long breakfast. Prices were decent for being inside a resort. I would give it a try at least once just for the view and atmosphere. read more

What's not to love!!! I've been here so many times since they've opened. Wasn't a fan of it when I stayed here for the first opening Christmas 2015? But since then, I've been back over a dozen plus times! And I love!! The good: the views! And the Disney vibes!! As an islander that's from here: I had a hard time swallowing the prices but now I appreciate them for what they are. I remember having a curry set for 7x more in town! What! The magic has a price!! And Disney happiness isn't free :) I've used to come here a whole lot for lunches and get a kids meal! Only because I really wanted Mickey ears and anything Mickey shape. Those were the only ones on the menu with ears! It was Mickey Tuna sandwich! Always paired it with their sangria!! Usually they have to go ask the managers approval but they can do it! After a whole lot of uneaten Mickey Mouse shape tuna sandwiches ( just wanted to see it, take pics!!), I've went back to their full menu. Lobster rolls! I love them! So much lobster! The dinner is still a little too pricey for me. You also have to order all the side dishes including veggies which I ended up not eating! Kids are also extra cranky at dinner time it seems. Lobster rolls, lobster tacos, sangria! The drinks! Most of their drinks are good. Sunset views! Or a very late lunch! It'll most likely be the only less busy spot in the resort after 1:30 pm! I advise you to make a reservation for either an early breakfast at say, 8am or a dinner at 6pm for a beautiful view of ocean paradise. When I imagine Hawaii, the 8am meal comes to mind with a bright blue sky, warm sun shining over everything in its path, including cool blue waves, and tall palm trees swaying from the breeze. It's absolutely gorgeous and hospitable Lisa bringing over freshly baked Hawaiian pastries makes it perfect (2 each of mini guava fans, coconut creams, orange macadamia nut muffins, and croissants for $8). For breakfast I ordered the July 4th special coconut shrimp eggs benedict with 3 large butterflied shrimp topped with hollandaise sauce and delicious Aulani potatoes salted just right. My family members ordered the egg white omelette with smoked salmon and cream cheese, substituting the island fried rice at no extra charge-- delicious! I was delighted by the slice of pineapple on each plate for dessert. If you wish, you can order a whole papaya with lime wedges, which is customary. We had dinner at 7:30pm two nights before the breakfast. The sun sets around 7pm so we didn't get to enjoy viewing the ocean. I had the kurobuta pork chop, which was so tender and flavorful with mascarpone polenta and some mushrooms. This is most likely cooked with some type of wine or whiskey to mask the pork smell; unfortunately for me, I'm not a big drinker so I knocked out pretty early. Their steak is satisfactory. 5 stars for the scallops and overall ambiance! Any time we come to Oahu, 'Ama 'Ama is now a must-visit, regardless of if we are staying at Aulani. I love that you get the most amazing ocean view of the sunset, without the crowds of Waikiki. We started with the celebration of tomato- the variety of tomatoes used was impressive and the macadamia nut tarragon dressing was delicious. I always order the Scallops with Mac-nut Brown Butter sauce. The scallops were served with the perfect sear, and paired amazingly with the browned butter and aioli topped with caviar. Although the restaurant is on the pricier side, I actually think it's very reasonable for the scallop dish, as it comes with 5 large sea scallops. One thing to note is that the sides are served al la carte, so any veggies, rice, etc. need to be ordered separately. We ordered the coconut herb rice, which was delicious! Fluffy, sweet, and coconut-y. The last time, we came for my birthday and they gave us a complimentary chocolate mouse cake and birthday card. 'Ama 'Ama is the nice sit down restaurant at the Aulani. It serves all three meals (although I have only eaten at Dinner there on two occasions and will only comment about the dinner). It has typical prices (albeit slightly higher resort prices) for a steakhouse or seafood restaurant. The food was delicious with well portioned meals. I ordered the 8 oz filet with black pepper glaze. The glaze is shown in the picture in the white little saucer on the plate. The steak is accompanied by three Maui onion garnishes. While I am not a huge fan of onion the Maui onion garnish was really delicious. I ordered a side of creamed corn while my wife ordered the asparagus that was sautéed in herb butter and fried garlic. Both side dishes were excellent. Service is wonderful. Take the service levels provided at a 5* steakhouse (or similar) and then add Disney service levels to that. What you get are very pleasant, friendly staff who are attentive to your needs and desires. One such example was I was with my family celebrating my 40th birthday (wife, kids, my brother and sister-in-law). My brother gave me a celebratory 40th birthday necklace and I wore it with pride to the restaurant. After seeing my birthday necklace, someone from the restaurant went out and got be a signed 40th birthday picture from Donald Duck and gave that to me along with the Aulani birthday badge (the Hau' oli la hanau birthday badge). Definitely a surprise to all of us and well done by Disney. The location of the restaurant is on the south side of the Ewa wing with most of the restaurant seating facing the ocean. As you eat you feel the ocean breezes and see a wonderful sunset. Just a beautiful backdrop to a great meal. We will be making 'Ama 'Ama a destination each time we go back to the Aulani. read more

Disney's attention to detail never fails. This restaurant is a testament to that. From the decor, to the physical menu, to the staff's costumes/uniforms everything gave me a pacific Island/Hawaiian vibe. The best thing of course is the view. You're right on the ocean with a beautiful view. As for the food: definitely try one of their non-alcoholic mocktails or spritzers and definitely get one of their beautiful salads. Six of us ate lunch there and the ones who got a salad were the most pleased. I enjoyed my appetizer of tempura shrimp, but my entree ...the Lovster Roll was underwhelming. There wasn't enough avocado and the lobster was soggy. The sweet potato fries were great. If you're a vegetarian my friend said her lentil pasta was great. We have been here a number of times and have great experiences, but there was a let down this past week. For a family of 4, there were orders of Hawaiian Seafood Stew, shrimp pasta, Mahimahi catch of the day, and free range chicken. I had the chicken, and it was really, really dry. It was breaded chicken breast, on mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The chicken was so dry that I had a hard time swallowing and had to take every bite down with water. I didn't eat all the chicken, but ate the potatoes and vegetables instead. Everyone else loved their food, the deserts were awesome. We went back for breakfast and everything was awesome! read more

We came here famished after flying in from San Diego and as a family of four we were so excited to have a good, high end meal. We were so disappointed. The presentation and plating is fantastic, the view gorgeous but as someone who frequently restaurants, I was very underwhelmed. The staff is great. For guests staying at Aulani, stick to chicken tenders. I cannot believe we spent $509 for a family of 4! I wish I could take back this terrible palate experience. read more

The ambiance for this place is amazing! My wife and I had dinner reservations on 2/12/2023 at 5pm and were sat shortly after arrival at a table where we could face the beach sunset. They even lowered a mesh cover so we can enjoy the view without being blinded. Brittany brought us some fresh warm bread and Dante gave some excellent cocktail suggestions. Both of them were extremely helpful and seriously the best cast members we could have asked for! The 4 course meal was next level. Leave it to Disney to always deliver the best! Just want I wanted in my belly before laying down on the beach :) derives was great too for breakfast! But dinner was where this restaurant shined. I ordered the Hawaiian Moonfish (Opa) with macadamia nut butter and OH MY GOD. The fish itself didn't *need* the macadamia nut butter because it was rich and flakey with a very light taste. But that butter just kicked it up a hundred notches and made it still to this day one of best fish dishes I've ever tasted. I'm honestly at a loss for words. Was there at 7:30pm on 3/30/23 My partner and I are big Disenyland fans since we're from So Cal, we frequent the parks and all the dining options. We were in Oahu on vacation and was able to get reservations for this place last minute. And.... Wow. The food is amazing, the ambiance is great. But the staff is what made this an unforgettable memory for us. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the staff. We were there celebrating and they made sure to make us feel special. I'm seriously almost in tears 4 days later. The food itself was some of the best I've ever had, I love food and frequent many nicer places and this was my top 5 of all time. This is including michelin rated restaurants. But the staff went above and beyond. I wish I could remember everyone's names but the only name I remembered was Eric, only because he reminded me of one of my good friends, who oddly enough is named Eric. Everyone from the host, the servers, everyone was just so.... Magical (cheesy, I know) I was already a fan of the brand but this made me a lifelong fan of the service at this restaurant and of the brand. My partner and I will never forget this experience and we plan on coming back on future vacations, this restaurant now holds a special place in our hearts. Overall great experience and our go to spot near the pool for lunch with our kids and they always accommodated our stroller with baby inside. We only ate here for lunch without reservations and it wasn't crowded like it is for breakfast and dinner. The view is magical especially at sunset. Seating also overlooks a patio area which we occasionally got to enjoy newlyweds taking photos with Mickey and Minnie. If you have dietary restrictions they have a special menu (same as the regular menu) that lists out ingredients of interest such as eggs, diary, shellfish, etc... Service was welcoming and warm. Kids chicken and rice we simple enough my picky daughter ate all of it! Plus it came with drink and appetizer of veggies and side of fruit. For about the same price as eating poolside. For Bfast the menu is inventive and fun. We had the Acai bowl, the Hash and the french toasts. They were FENOMENAL! The corned beef for the has is made in house and was sooo tasty. The Acai bowl was refreshing and delicious..... BUT THE WINNER were the French Toast!!! OMG! They are CapNCrunch covered and just soooo darn good! Our server was Kristin and she was delightful. Lunch was great too! Husband had thee burger and I had the fish tacos. Overall was a very tasty and filling lunch. Dinner was not as great as Bfast and Lunch. The menu is is attractive but the actual food is nothing to remember. We spent $400 on dinner w a bottle of wine. A bit overpriced for non memorable food. Im still giving the restaurant a 5 star because our server at dinner Cheyenne was the star of our stay! She was the friendliest, sweetest cast member EVER!!! Way too high class to be on Disney property.. While I understand it's a resort .. Food to be fair was very good staff was excellent . Just liked the old menu options better .. but that's just me read more
