This review is 1 year after the work was completed. We had a pretty big job. The backyard had dirt to be moved, new lower wall made, new turf in the backyard and front yard with drip system installed for future plants. Yes Amado is a friendly cool guy to talk to and his prices are reasonable. And the work was done in a timely fashion. But the work sometimes was sloppy. Make sure you get a proper written detailed invoice with revisions of the work to be completed. He used screenshots of text messages to get the payment situated which was not entirely agreed upon. We had new concrete poured for our driveway and the guys didn't cover the custom garage door. There was concrete stuck to the garage door and we needed to get the door removed and repainted. Yes Amado deducted the cost of that ordeal, but if the guys were more careful and covered the garage door we wouldn't have had to deal with that in the first place. The ground under the artificial turf is starting to become uneven. There are bowls starting to form since they did not use proper sand layers which can crack (see picture). We had to ask someone else to fix the layer underneath the turf to even it out. The guys did a sloppy stucco job. I wanted a gray color but it turned out white and when there were cracks in the stucco, they used paint to cover the whole wall to make it look "better". A legit stucco guy came by and said it was a bad job. They also got stucco on our neighbor's side of the wall, but they did come back to clean that up. Also I caught his guys taking a piss in our backyard since they didn't bring a porter potty or would sometimes drive somewhere to use the bathroom. It was embarrassing and gross to walk around and catch a guy with his fly open and he's rushing to close his zipper when he saw me. He installed a drip system for us and we never used it until now since we had to wait to get enough money to pay for the plants to irrigate. But there turned out to be a few big leaks and I've reached out to him to help us fix that but of course no response. Turns out we had to get another landscaper to come out and help us fix the problem which was that the old sprinkler system needed to have sprinkler caps placed on them! read more

He's very knowledgeable and answered questions promptly which I appreciated as some other contractors I considered were not as timely with their communication. He went above and beyond by fixing up some brick border that had broken over the years so that everything looked nice and put together at the end. I did not have a good experience with this company. Amado missed his initial appointment, which he attributed to Yelp providing a different number than his actual business number, so he never got my text. That may have been true, but he didn't confirm that I had the correct number when scheduling the time, either. Amado didn't schedule another time to provide and estimate and instead asked me to send pictures. He then sent his crew with plants to install which proved to be the incorrect ones. Further compounding the problem was that the crew didn't speak English. Amado then texted me estimates again without ever seeing my house himself. We chose Amado Landscaping after reviewing other bids, and we are very happy with the results. After completing a large remodel project, our yard was a mud pit and Amado Landscaping removed the old concrete walkway, replaced it with a modern path that fit the new house layout, and installed plants along the house and a wonderful sod that has been growing energetically and still looks great after 3 months. We also requested that chicken wire be put down under the sod to keep gophers at bay, and had them repair our irrigation system that was a wreck after all the remodel foundation work. I can't believe I'm so late in writing this!!! I've searched high and low on yelp for a professional landscaper. I even went with another company on here which was a failure. But in the same breathe, it lead me to Amado! First this is a team of people! I made an appointment over the phone with a lady. She gave me a date and timeframe and Amado showed up. I spent about 10 minutes telling him my vision. He provided some professional suggestions and we agreed. I'll fast forward now and tell you, his price is worth it! The contact was done via email, I signed it and the work started about 3 days after and was finished within 5-6 days. First as I said - it's a team of people!! So day 1 - I met the foreman and they started digging trenches and moving dirt. They installed a drip sprinkler system. (Which I highly recommend because the plants are thriving!!! ) He provided with a few nursery's for us to look for plants (one was a drive thru- how awesome). I sent him several pictures of ones I liked and by day 3, we had plants! There were even a few areas that I wanted to be fuller, and had no issue adding more plants. They even asked me for placement. (I really didn't care but in that moment, I felt like I was in control! I was like yeah put the yellow here! Red one - there! Lol) By day 5, they were cleaning up and showing me and my husband where the system was installed, how to turn it on/off. They even came the following day, just to make sure everything was still ok and then we paid. I hired Amado to remove and replace a beloved jacaranda tree that was at the end of its life 60+ year life. I had trouble deciding on the replacement as far as tree type and size. But, Amado resolved that when he found a new young jacaranda tree that shaped to fit the space perfectly. Also, I decided on some additional changes, like a lattice wall and new bushes, that they installed which gave me motivation to landscape the whole yard. His guys came out and tackled everything we discussed in a timely manner.
