I had major water damage to my house from my kitchen sink so had to fix my ceiling, walls, kitchen cabinets and floor tiles. It has been a nightmare and literally draining the life out of me dealing with all of this. After demolition and drying from a restoration company, I had to find someone to put everything back together and I found Oscar on Yelp, and his crew did an amazing job! I can't say how thankful I am for his crew. Oscar helped me pick out my new cabinets and tiles with pictures from the store. His crew are the most hard working, honest people in the industry. This is for a couple of jobs. Oscar did work last year on our backyard patio decks (build new and replace existing), remove a cement patio, replace a fence, putting in edgers, laying down landscaping fabric and build a new garage door entryway. Since he's general contractor and did a great job then, I now keep him mind for other work around the house or ask questions about home maintenance stuff. I called Oscar last month on a late Saturday night to check out a water leak with our kitchen sink pipes and valve. I also decided to replace our very old kitchen sink, garbage disposal and faucet to make sure everything else was new and worked. It started when we had a new dishwasher installed Saturday afternoon which backed up and started overflowing later that night. The dishwasher pump was defective but the water leak issue also revealed the need to replace old plumbing and pipes. To my relief, Oscar answered my late Saturday call and was available to check out the leak AND replace our old sink, plumbing etc. early Sunday morning. I ordered the new sink, faucet and garbage disposer that same morning which Oscar kindly picked up from Lowes on his way here. His crew did a great job installing all that with new pipe fittings and made sure the leak was fixed. Don't understand how he got good reviews unless they're "manufactured". Hired Amador's handyman for a simple bathtub regrout. Terrible work and awful service. I'd rate zero stars if I could. Oscar kept rescheduling and rescheduling. When he finally "came" he sent someone in his place last minute. He was supposed to arrive at 9am but his guy was an hour late. So exasperated by then I should have known better because he kept texting excuses: "forgot a tool and have to go back ", "By any chance do you have an extension cord?" He doesn't know what tools he'll need for a simple regrout? Without asking and after I stepped out momentarily he searched my home for the supplies he needed and just helped himself! His work? Awful. The photos speak for themselves. So messy and incompetent he smeared clear silicone with a white grout! He smeared new grout over the old to make it look "new". But the worst part was he made an incredible dust mess! DUST WAS EVERYWHERE AND TRACKED THROUGHOUT ALL THE ROOMS AND THE ENTIRE HOUSE. Ended up having to pay professional cleaners to clean up!! Spent the entire weekend cleaning everywhere the dust went- all over the bathroom floors, walls, cabinets and wall hangings. All over the bedroom, bedding and curtains. It would have been so simple to place a drop cloth and that problem would have been eliminated. It took a cleaning crew of two people FOUR HOURS to clean Oscar's mess. Couldn't get him out of there fast enough! Paid him just so he'd leave and stop doing more damage. Oscar agreed to take the cleaners charges off his bill so the bank had to send him another check. This just never ends! If you want to spend all your time and your weekend cleaning up after incredibly incompetent work this is for you. If there was NO stars I'd give him that. When/if this never ending ordeal ends I'll update my review. Look elsewhere! read more

Oscar recently finished a full renovation of our 3 bed/2bath in San Francisco as part of a multi-unit building project. The job involved some structural work (removing a wall and a light well and putting in beams and posts for support), removing a fireplace, all new kitchen and bathrooms, new exhaust for the kitchen and bathrooms, framing a laundry room and utility closet, sheetrock, doors, and new front windows. Oscar made our vision a reality, and we are extremely happy with our new home! Oscar and his crew were professional and dedicated. We needed to have a washer dryer unit installed in a closet within our bathroom. So we ordered a GE model from Home Depot. The washer/dryer would not fit through the door frame, and Home Depot installers wouldn't remove the door stop saying it was out of scope for them. So, without carpentry experience, we figured we had to find a handyman to do the job of removing the door stop and installing the washer dryer. We called upon Amador General Construction to help us with this. The total work performed included: -removing the door stop -replacing a sheet of plywood within the washer/dryer closet -installing the washer / dryer -replacing the door stop Despite the door stop taking less than 10 minutes to remove, and the plywood being replaced within the first 30 minutes of arriving, the rest of the job somehow took nearly all day and we were charged $950 for the effort. This seems to me to be at least double what it should have cost. After watching them remove and replace the door stop, I was able to do it myself in less than 15 minutes. Moreover, the Home Depot installers had broken a step in our spiral staircase when delivering the washer/dryer. Amador quoted us $1500 to replace the step completely, or $700 to reinforce the broken step. We were able to find another handyman to reinforce the broken step for $100, and it's good as new now. Amador does satisfactory work, but they are not as efficient or cost effective as they could be. read more

I hired Oscar for a heavy duty cleanup of a multi-tiered yard that was partially covered with artificial turf. It had not been tended since it was installed several years before. 2 dogs had also been using it to relieve themselves so, there's that. It was completely overgrown with weeds and ivy. There was also large furniture and a kid's big playset strewn around the lawn. It was a disaster area. I was also looking for ongoing monthly maintenance. I contacted approximately 10 landscaping/gardening businesses who all said they didn't do that type of work or came back with an outrageous estimate. Thank GOD - because then I found Oscar. Lightning-fast response time and continued excellent communication through texting throughout the days leading up to the job and during the job itself. He and his crew were punctual, thorough, and professional with outstanding attitudes. I had to leave for a couple of hours during the day and by the time I returned they were done. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was going to take all day. They brought all their own equipment and hauled away the debris and yard waste at the end of the day. I couldn't be happier with the service and will be hiring them for any work that any of my clients need in the future. (I am a professional organizer and personal assistant). Kept meaning to post this review, so it's a bit late in terms of when I reached out (2 months ago), but I have to throw this out there... Contacting them in the first place was such a disappointment and such a waste of time! I had reached out to them in regards to fixing a door that was not shutting properly. We went back and forth via Yelp messaging, even though I offered my phone number a few times to discuss further, but that was never initiated. When we settled on a time to meet up, he was a no call/no show. I called the number on the Yelp page, but I got a "this caller is unable to be reached at the moment" message. I didn't have patience to wait any longer than 30 minutes of an estimated arrival time so I shot another Yelp message explaining to cancel any chance of coming out. Oscar and his crew are a talented and hardworking bunch! Had them come in and pull of three very huge mirrors and redo the wall behind it. Also worked on redoing wooden fireplace top. The job was done very smoothly! I invigilated the whole job for the first day and they were very careful with ensuring there is no damage to surrounding areas. Mirrors came off in one piece, even though it was quite the challenge. Wall patching and paint work that followed was also of excellent quality. Trust worthy crew as well since for the remaining days I wasn't necessarily at home, but all the work was done sincerely. What I liked the best about Oscar's work style is how he worked around my schedule. Never late even once, always accommodating in terms of timing. I got stuck at work causing me to be late one of the days when Oscar and his crew was waiting outside my place for me, but they were so nice to not charge me at all for the delay I caused.
