Great food; Great owner! Our favourite place for seafood. Amazing lobster salad, scallop ceviche, sea bass and blue fish paté!

Perhaps you've sampled the rest, but Mike's Amagansett Seafood is clearly the best. Yes there are cheaper... but none I've ever encountered sells fish and seafood as fresh as what Mike offers. His blarney is a hallmark, as are his prepared seafoods, including lobster salad, both a house made coleslaw and potato salad that is light and flavorful plus one of the finest tuna fish salads that's made with just the lightest touch of mayo. It's so good I freeze it for the winter months when Mike is closed. With a couple of hours notice, Mike will also custom prepare steamed lobsters, one of the best lobster rolls on the East End or shellfish platters that are to die for. This is definitely a place to come for seafood and english sports on the telly. read more

Single best fish market experience I've ever had. Birthday tequila shots with the owner while our oysters were prepared. Anyone who doesn't appreciate that kind of service is likely a chode and sucks the life out of whatever room they enter. Baring none the best seafood store it all of hamptons. When you walk in the owner, Michael greet you as if your family. It is so clean that it makes you feel that it's worth the experience.. There lobsters are the best in town along with the little neck clams that are always sweet and fresh . Mike will also tell you how to cook the various fish he carries as we know fish is. always very difficult to perfect. Very pricey. Lobster tails just a B. Salmon excellent and the cold shrimp small. Owner was three sheets to the wind bombed and a bit of a wanker when i was there. Reminded me of the Soup Nazi. Has the attitude but not the product. Proceed at your own caution. read more

I've had the pleasure of meeting mike who's just a ray of sunshine. We were in the Hamptons and I was catering for a brunch and dinner. I pick up some oysters, lobsters, shrimp and salmon. I must say the quality and freshness of the seafood is unlike anywhere I've shopped before. He was so friendly he walked me to the car with the trays. Excellent customer service. Great lobster clam bake. Upgrade to the 1.5lb lobster. I love the sauce from the clams and mussels which I usually save to make pasta next day with it, so yum. Scallop Ceviche is a must if they have it. Oysters are great when they are available. NE Clam chowder is super yummy too, but a little different than the normal cause I think theirs have dill in it. The fish they sell seems super fresh. They have other stuff on their menu but honestly haven't tried anything else yet. Love to stop when we drive into town. Mike always has something delicious going on. Today it was dozens of fat juicy oysters on the half shell and to die for crab bisque. Bring a bottle of wine or a six pack, pull up a chair and tune in to the football (soccer) match that is sure to be on. You can get provisions for the house while you're there, but don't buy too much bc you'll want an excuse to come back again and again. read more

I went in right before closing on a holiday weekend and it was quite a scene. The owner was hugging regulars like they were family. Then he excused himself to turn up the stereo when a good Van Morrison song came on. A young man helped me with my order and explained it had been a hectic day. ZERO STARS!! Stay away!! The owner was rushing me off the phone when trying to order steamed lobsters. When i went to pick them up he was drinking beer and doing tequila shots. He gave us LIVE lobsters and refused to cook them for us after HE messed up our order. Terrible business owner. We explained we are renting and don't have the supplies to cook 10 live lobsters and he continued to tell us we ordered wrong. How does he not fix HIS mistake after someone spends so much money?? Me and two of my friends had fresh oysters, raw scallops, lobster roll, scallop taco, seaweed and fried lotus root salad, ceviche and octopus dishes. Omg. They were all heaven. I love love love Amagansett Seafood Store. Michael is a gas man. A Wexford man too. My sister had me prepared for a visit here, but it was so much more fun and entertaining than I had imagined. After a shot of high end tequila from the freezer, we got our pre-ordered clam bake for two, some fish sauce and the lone of a knife to crack open the lobsters. It was all wonderful. And the most amazing dining experience I've had in years. Eating a clam bake we cooked ourselves on a beach bonfire at sunset. Absolute heaven. I see from a couple of other reviews, some people have taken exception to Michaels personality. I think he's the highlight and I'm glad the majority of Yelp reviewers have embraced this shop and it's proprietor. As the Amagansett Seafood Store by-line says "Get Fresh", it sets the fun tone before you even set foot in the place. Highly recommended if you have an open mind and sense of humour. read more

Not to be missed if in the east Hampton/Amagansette area. Simply the best seafood if you're looking to cook at home and the most delicious prepared seafoods if you want to grab lunch to take to the beach or create an easy meal at home and impress your guests, I just feasted on soft shell crab tacos in a mango alioli sauce and the best crab cakes outside of Baltimore-all crab, hardly any breading. The atmosphere is a draw as much as the food. Mike creates a warm familial atmosphere where everyone is welcome -- locals and international visitors alike. A hamptons classic if you want locally caught fish and shellfish. So grateful there are places like this still left in a community getting more and more overtaken by national chain stores. read more

This is THE place to buy seafood in Hamptons. It can be a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Make sure to try the scallop ceviche. Amagansett's Seafood is by far the best on the East End. Over the years, I've shopped at virtually every other fishmonger in the area, and I don't shop at those guys anymore. Freshest Scallops, Swordfish, Striped Bass, and Lobsters, as well as many other kinds of fish and shellfish that can be had. Prices are very reasonable for the excellent quality, and the prepared foods are to die for! Lobster Rolls, Spicy Bass Dip, Fish Tacos, Lotus Root and Seaweed Salad (!), Lobster Mac and Cheese, are just a few of their delectable delights for snacking in-store or bringing home to the house! I have it on good authority that they will have the World Cup on this summer for all of you soccer fans. This place is simply the best. read more

It is true that the owner was on his way to drunk when we stopped in, but he was actually friendly and charming, let us taste stuff, gave us excellent advice (I like to think of myself as pretty knowledgeable when it comes to seafood, and I still learned a few things from him). With respect to the drinking, it was early in the day, so I could see him getting out of hand later in the day as some of the people below report. We went back into town later that day looking for an oyster shucker, couldn't find one, and he let us borrow one from his store, which we promised to return later. Very nice of him. But most of all, the product is excellent. We tried their oysters, clams, scallops, scallop ceviche, octopus salad, Mahi Mahi, smoked Bluefish dip. All of it was excellent, and I'm pretty picky (some might use much less flattering words) when it comes to seafood. Definitely worth going just for the product. read more
