But here's the thing, Amano might just be the best food I've eaten in 2020 and maybe even one of the best thing's I've eaten period. My girlfriend and I visited Amano last night and from the moment we waked in we knew we were going to have an amazing experience. I wish I wasn't so terrible at names but the gentleman who took care of us last night was super passionate about his job, talked very highly of the food, and treated us like VIP's the entire night (I believe his name was Ryan, I very well could be wrong). The menu here features everything an American/Italian restaurant should have on it from Pizza, Subs, and Soups to Calzones, Chicken Parm, and the reason I came here, THE FAT BABY! Let me tell you something....No matter where you live in the Las Vegas area, and no matter where you are traveling from, you absolutely need to come here and order whatever Fat Baby best suits you. I ended up ordering the Spaghetti and Meatball Fat Baby and this thing looked magnificent. This is basically a large cone made of crust filled with spaghetti and meatballs, and it was the best thing I've tasted all year. Everything from the thick tasty noodles, the flavourful marinara sauce, to the big juicy delicious meatballs were top notch and are worthy of nothing less then 5 stars. Overall, Amano is the best thing I've eaten since moving to Las Vegas and they definitely earned a returning customer in both my girlfriend and I tonight. Food was delicious. Dining experience with servers was top notch. I ordered the pizza baby with chicken alfredo and the garlic bites. I think they are called bites maybe knots (pun intended). The area itself for seating is quite small so make sure to plan ahead and make arrangements in advance if you have a large crowd. Portion sizes are massive, you will need to go plates so don't plan anything afterwards without adding time to take it home. Definitely worth the price though! Part of me does not want to write this review, because I want to make sure I can always get in for a table when I want to. This will be my go to for Italian from now on. It is not often that you find any restaurant that cooks from scratch, but you can taste the effort in all of their food. I had the fat baby with spaghetti and meat ball. The meat ball was amazing! I could have been happy with a full plate of nothing but the meatballs, the pasta was perfectly cooked and appeared to be (die to texture) fresh made in house, the sauce amazing! I couldn't have asked for anything more, but then there is the fresh bread which was crispy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside!! My date had the pasta pie zoni with fettuccini alfredo and the carnivore. The pizza crust was wonderful and crispy with a light garlic and olive oil, the alfredo was just so good a great blend of cheese to perfect the sauce and unlike many bottled Alfredo sauces no bland flour taste you get when great ingredients are skipped to save a buck. As for the carnivore pizza side, let's just say I just ate the last 2 pieces and I couldn't be happier with the meal we had in the restaurant and the 2 meals I enjoyed from my leftovers. First off the looks from the outside are deceiving. It's in a shopping center. You might even drive past it it's a little hole in the wall but when you walk in it's actually bigger than it looks from the outside. Well the pizza looks delicious on pictures it actually looks good when they bring it to you but it's so thin and when you lift it to take a piece it's wet and floppy and just soggy. Maybe if they made the crust a little thicker it may not have this problem ‍. As for the actual cone that they're known for, the bread texture is not French bread, it actually taste like regular sliced bread it doesn't have that pizza or yeast bread texture. So I wasn't crazy about the cone. They soak or smother it with the sauce so you can't really taste anything else. For presentation I give it a 10 for taste I give it a 4.5at best. Nothing special other than the unique presentation. I probably won't return but it's an experience. Oh yeah, when you call to reserve a table (which is a must) since they have a limited amount of seating, the advise you to book online, there is where you have to enter your debit or credit card info to hold a table and if you don't show up, they will charge your card $25!!! I was REALLY turned off by this! I'm sure many people just keep scrolling for the next pizza place. Not cool. I reserved online with my $25 deposit which they don't touch if you arrive. I wish I could actually review this place but we were not even given a chance to dine in. We went on a Tuesday night not knowing that you have to have reservations. At the counter some server told us they will not service us without a reservation because they were booked for the night. It was 6:00PM and the restaurant had two people inside with plenty of tables (there were two of us). We ordered four Fat Baby's because we, like a lot of reviews, saw on TikTok how great it was. We were told it'd be a 2 hour wait for dine in or 30 minutes for take out - so we opted for take out. We sat in our car directly in front of the Mexican place next door and watched groups of people going in and out - must be delicious, right? 30 minutes goes by so we go in to check and they say "it'll be 15 more minutes." Okay, not bad but annoying because we were hangry. 15 more minutes goes by and we go in and it's still not ready. So I wait another 15 minutes and go on and STILL not ready. By now I'm really annoyed - I see our ticket hanging on the thing and others being filled (people who came before us had already got their food to go!) I ask about mine and it's still not ready - I get it, they were busy but realistic expectations were not set. We were offered a tiramisu as an apology - I love tiramisu but, honestly, one of the servers offered to pay for another table of people who were dine in and waiting 45 min and all we got was a tiramisu - not that she should have paid for ours or there but definitely could have done better. So we get to the hotel and are eating - - I had the Bolognese one - pasta was good, bread was good; together it was a lot but food. - one of us had alfredo add chicken - there was literally 1 piece of chicken. It was okay, not awesome and a waste to pay more - 2 had the macaroni and cheese with beef; the macaroni was awesome but the ribs it came with had almost no meat and doesn't make sense why it wasn't shredded on top or something but instead to ribs on bone. I've had the New Yorker, Super Cheesy, and the Bianca pizza, and all were fantastic! I really like the Super Cheesy; it's made with 6 different types of cheese: mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, romano, ricotta, and goat cheese). Amazing! They even have this $100 pizza which comes with foie grais, truffles, and 23k gold. Absolutely ridiculous and totally a Vegas thing! The wings are really good too, super crispy! Made a reservation here and we called to say that we were running late. The employee said that we should still come because the table was not ready yet anyway. However once we arrived, that same person said that he gave our table away. We traveled 20 minutes to get there and they were very unapologetic and rude about it after having us come there after we called and were encouraged to still come. The place also looked kind of dirty and didn't match the pictures. There was a dirty dish rag smell upon entry and flies flies located at the front entrance so I can't imagine what the back/kitchen looked like. Overheard people saying that it wasn't worth the hype. My family and I have been following Amano on Instagram for awhile and have been really excited to finally come try one of their famous pizza cones. We decided to come tonight at 7, an hour and a half before closing. We drove 30 minutes across town and had our entire family of 6 excited to finally try Amano. When we arrived, the host rudely informed us that we needed a reservation and that they wouldn't seat us. If you're going to require reservations - that should be advertised across every single social and directly platform. With such an inconvenient location, you can't have people wasting gas when gas is $5 a gallon and refusing to serve them. What an awful experience. Wow just wow. This place knows good food. I can't say enough good things about Amano. Let's start with the service. Absolutely amazing. We were greeted right as we walked into this little lovely restaurant. Our server sat us immediately and went over the menu with us. He was so friendly and went above and beyond to guarantee we had a great experience. Now onto the food. Good lord. Perfect. Delicious. Crazy. So I ordered a fat baby after seeing tons of photos of them on insta and yelp. I had to do it. It's so much bigger than you think. Also it's not just a gimmicky thing, the pasta inside is incredible. They have Dine In available! We got the calamari with sweet peppers. They came out fresh and crispy. Perfect appetizer! Next we had the fat baby filled with fettuccine alfredo. This large loaf of bread filled with delicious pasta and cream sauce with green peas was on point. The way you eat it is simply dig in the top of the bread and pull out the pasta with a fork. I almost picked it up and ate it like a sammy until I realized that I would look like an utter and complete slob doing this. Albeit a happy one, but a slob nonetheless! I went to this place and didn't know what to expect. I had seen a picture of the food but I was not prepared for the complete presentation and size of my meal. The place looks extremely small but once inside you don't feel it. It's a cozy establishment. The menus do no justice for how big the portions are. I purchased a lasagna fat baby and my friend purchased a linguini with clam sauce fat baby. We also got a Caesar salad, it came with anchovies on the side. We also had some Italian soda with our meals. Everything was delicious. I had to take the majority home because it was so much. The services was excellent. They answered any questions we had, and packed our food to go. The portions are big and the food is flavorable. These meals are shareable if you want to. Yes. The mythical "Fat Baby". This one is definetly for all my carb lovers out there. Very cheesy and saucy. Pasta cooked to perfection has a very good chew to it. Flavors of the sauce are there!!! Glad it is not over seasoned. The chicken that was added on to it was disappointing. It tastes microwaved or boiled then thrown directly onto the sauce. Would be better if it was pan fried then sauced. Also bread should be crispy on all sides. Noticed the bottom was a lot softer then top. Spicy italian sub was fantastic. Bread has very good crunch. Ingredients are fresh. I would have put a little bit more of the italian vinegar but thats just because I love those flavors. Service is fantastic! The waitress is very attentative. On Saturday June 25th we made a reservation to celebrate my daughter's birthday, when I called they asked me for my credit card information (RED FLAG) which I never saw that in any restaurant were I made reservations before, we had a pleasant experience, the food was great but today I got a notification from my back about a fraudulent charge, I barely use my credit card unless is a special event, today they're closed but most definitely waiting to talk to the manager next day to ask why their employees ask for credit cards information to make a reservation. That's a big red flag. Most definitely they tried to use my credit card to make fraudulent purchases. I suggest everyone to bring cash instead of credit/debit cards. My fiancé and I decided to take a drive around the city to get out of the house and try somewhere new and we discovered this place. Based on the pictures it was enough to convince us to give it a try so we stopped and dined in. For starters, the restaurant is small and they are following the 6 foot rule so I would recommend calling ahead of time to make sure you don't have to make a reservation. It's a relaxed atmosphere and they play 80's classics. We were greeted by the cashier who also is the only server. Very friendly and attentive. We opted to go with the classic NY Supreme Pizza and their famous "Fat Baby". I underestimated the fat babies. It's a dough cone with pasta in the center. They are enough to share so we had left overs. All of the sauce appears to be homemade. Nothing was overly salted or seasoned.
