I went a little out of my way to go to Amano and I'm glad I did. I'm mildly envious of people who live closer to this little slice of heaven. Walking in to the lobby we had to wait a little bit to get someone's attention to get a table. The dining room is small.... cozy, but small. We got a nice table by the window. The service was fantastic. The young gentleman who took care of our table did his job very well. I started out with the Rosemary infused lemonade. My tastebuds did a happy dance. We ordered some fried mozzarella. It definitely wasn't the same old cheese sticks you get everywhere else. These were fresh tasting slices of fried happiness. We got the pizza/calzone hybrid. To give some backstory, I have ordered from Amano for years. I am not a first time customer leaving a negative review, and I fully expect the excuse train response to come. I placed an order at 6:46pm that specified pepperoni piezoni and contactless delivery which was offered in the app. (See screenshots below) The pizza arrived after 75 mins which was well beyond estimated delivery time. The pizza was a cheese pizza, not pepperoni. They sent a correct pizza out, which now arrives 2 hours total time since 6:46 initial order time (checked with security camera footage time stamp) The driver rings the bell, I instruct to leave at the porch as I selected CONTACT FREE delivery which is OFFERED on the app. (See attached pictures). Driver said "the owner wants me to give it to you by hand and take the other pizza back" Yes. The owner, who messed up my order in the first place, delivered the incorrect order beyond the estimated time in the first place, is now asking for the initial pizza back. You got me! My whole plan was to make a complaint to try to finesse a free pizza! Even though you can search my order history and see dozens of orders over the years. I call and ask to speak to the owner. I ask who am I speaking with. Guy says "Jason". He goes is this about the "cold pizza or something". Yes, a customer calling to talk about the "cold pizza or something". Imagine that. He then tells me the owner is on the other line. I offer to give my number for callback. Then a voice says this is the owner. It's the same guy who answered the phone. Have no clue why he referred to himself in the third person by saying "the owner is on the other line" when in fact it was him who answered. I confirmed with him that he indeed wanted the pizza back he delivered. I asked what was he going to do with the pizza? He said I want to make sure you didn't eat the first pizza. Lol. I said your number one concern, was to make sure a long time customer, whose order you messed up, didn't keep the wrong cold pizza you delivered? He said yes. Loooooooooooooool. He then tried to go around the merry go round of semantics with me regarding the situation and speaking in a condescending and rude manner. He actually suggested that "you demanded my driver place the pizza on the ground that's why it is cold" Uh, the app LITERALLY offers CONTACT FREE delivery. Are you able to process what "CONTACT FREE" implies? It means....no contact. Where else would he put the pizza? On my roof? And LOL @ pizza being on a doormat for 20 secs would make it ice cold. This is grade school level critical thinking here guys. Come on. It is the middle of a pandemic, you offer CONTACT FREE delivery on your app, and now want me to MAKE CONTACT with your driver, in order to give him back the first mistake pizza. This is the logic? Any normal owner, would easily of been hey man, sorry for the inconvenience, just keep the first pizza. What is he going to do with it? He's going to eat it after it's been in my house during COVID-19 pandemic? Obviously not. He literally wanted to ensure I didn't get "a free pizza" even though HE messed up the order. That's insane. The level of petty and cheapness is appalling. I don't care about getting a free pizza, Amano pizza is expensive so if cost was a concern I wouldn't order from them regularly. But for this guy to demand the initial pizza back, just to have his delivery guy toss it in the trash, is literal insanity. I've never experienced a restaurant be that cheap and petty. *Now upon inspection of second pizza, they made ANOTHER MISTAKE. They gave a Macaroni calzone, not cheese as specifically instructed. Wtf* Trying to support local business during tough times and the actual owner acts like that is actually truly mind boggling. However when I showed up, I was told that they were fully booked and there were no spots avaliable. I showed a female server the text confirmation I had recieved. She just walked away without further explanation. We asked a different server about our reservation and he then confirmed that our name was written on the booking sheet. (He even showed us the seating chart) We waited for over 30 minutes just to be told again they were fully booked and had no table for us. Saw this place on TikTok and instantly bookmarked it on Yelp. I finally got to try it last night and let me tell you, it does not disappoint! The peppers and onions gave it a nice freshness to offset the heaviness from all the pasta and bread in the Fat Baby. At this point, I was completely stuffed. But when you see "fried dough covered in powdered sugar," you just don't pass on it. It comes with a chocolate sauce to dip in which was good in itself, but the zeppoles were such a great flavor in their own right. I'm drooling thinking about them again haha. If there was a complaint the Ranch could use some work. That my friends is the end of the complaints. The Fat Baby's my son and his wife had, according to them was exceptional. Visited with my family for the first time, having no prior knowledge about the food or any social media hype. We happened to be in the area and wanted pizza. In 2024, most people use cell phones to find places, so we found this spot through a quick Google search and website visit. As soon as we walked in, there was no polite greeting. Instead, the first question from Nova at the front door was "How many people?" It was earlier in the day during a weekday, and it was a special day for us. Nova frowned and expressed frustration, saying we were supposed to make a reservation. This was surprising since the place was empty, and there was no logical explanation for why we couldn't be seated. She mumbled something about having the space but insisted we should have made a reservation. I was shocked by the rudeness and negative energy from Nova. This is a tiny hole-in-the-wall in what isn't regarded as the best part of Las Vegas, and the rudeness was completely unexpected. In my experience, small hole-in-the-wall restaurants that have return customers over time usually express gratitude for even one more customer. This place is not deserving of business. It seems, based on other reviews, that this kind of behavior happens frequently. Why wouldn't this be resolved by adding specific requirements on the front page of their website? How can you expect people to telepathically know your expectations? I don't see this business continuing much longer. You reap what you sow. A business is NOTHING WITHOUT ITS FAITHFUL RETURNING CUSTOMERS and their sincere word-of-mouth recommendations. Hype from one-time customers doesn't sustain a business over time. Was my first time visiting Vegas and was recommend this place by my friends. It looked nice but the service wasn't all that. I was greeted by Josh who was just pretty rude. When we were seated, we asked for waters which ended up taking 20 minutes for it to come out. For some reason when I went to the restroom I saw Josh in there washing his hands, I over heard him talking on the phone, complaining about some guy named Chad and was talking about how he thinks he could run the place better than Chad could. Honestly that kind of threw me off because I also work in the restaurant industry and I understand how people can be frustrated with there bosses but I also understand poor camaraderie leads to disaster ship, especially in the kitchen.
