Biscuits and gravy is one of my fave breakfast/brunch dishes and this one was okay. The chorizo side was definitely delicious, but the regular gravy wasn't that great. It was also one of those things that if you go alone they aren't really prepared for it. I got there and they told me to wait and then a two person table opened and it was offered to the two people that got here before me. It was kinda shocking and left a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you are coming on the weekend. The place is small and it does fill up fast. The diner looks like it's out of the 1950s or 60s. It is very cute and timeless. They even have a service bar you can sit at. I started with a coffee which is sourced from a local coffee maker. It is delicious. What is unique is that they have an array of different coffee cups they randomly serve the coffee in. For my meal I had the steak and eggs. The steak was unbelievable. This was my second time eating there, So I took my son there today for his 21st Birthday. He got the county fried steak breakfast and I got the fried chicken sandwich, which I ordered because it was featured on the YouTube video. My son said his food was great, and that chicken sandwich was the best I have ever had. Normally in any other restaurant I would just go past a Chicken sandwich, however this one is outstanding, amazing! If you've never been there and tried this chicken sandwich, you have to try it, that's all I can say. Our waiter was Berto, he's great! This place has been on my list since the opened. I grew up eating southern country food. It's just on the other side of town. We had occasion to be out that way and jumped at the chance to grab breakfast. I really like the atmosphere and appreciate a diner counter vibe. We had reservations and it was basically opening time so we were seated right away, but it took a while for someone to take our order. We ordered food and drinks all at once including bloody marys. The food did come out in a reasonable time but the bloody marys came out after the food. The coffee and water didn't get a refill until the end of the meal. So service wasn't great but adequate. The food is where the disappointment came in. I am a sucker for country fried steak but the choice is pork or chicken. I went with the chicken. They are known for their scratch biscuits and gravy but neither had any flavor. I would have to assume the gravy was made and sausage crumbled in cause there was no flavor. I was surprised that butter wasn't served with the biscuits and there was no way to ask for some. She got the standard breakfast with ham, bacon, sausage and eggs. We wanted to try something new on a whim and decided to try this restaurant. We went on a Friday morning, and we proceed immediately. It took a while for our server to come and take our drink order, which was a little bit annoying because the restaurant wasn't packed. We realized our server had been talking at a table from the time that we walked in until she walked up to our table, which was about 10 minutes later. I'm an extremely timely person so little things like that absolutely irritate me. I told my husband if we have to wait another couple of minutes we were gonna go ahead and leave. Our server did come to our table a couple of minutes later and took our drink and breakfast order because we were ready at that point. Once our food came, everything looked great and tasted good. While we were eating, our server came over to see how things were going and at that point I ordered a bluebird lemon drop martini. We finished eating and our server came and picked up our plates and my drink still wasn't there. After a few minutes, my husband said we can cancel the drink and when our server came over, she said I think your drink is being made now. After a few more minutes of just sitting there, my last drink finally came and he ended up getting more coffee because we had been sitting there for so long. Found out about this diner on TikTok. Made a reservation and was seated immediately at the reservation time. The diner is very cute reminds me of the ones back home in the Midwest. The host and our server was attentive and kind. The menu options for me were a bit limited because I don't eat pork and they didn't have the option to sub for turkey bacon or sausage. I spent $15 on my food because I had to order everything à la carte. And $14 on an alcoholic drink. The drink was cute and tasty but because of the limited options I personally don't see me coming back. This was a diner that I was dying to try out. The menu put out on social media was incredible. I couldn't wait to go. We went for Father's Day and there was a server that was a singer and there was a "show" type of ambiance. It was great. The menu on the other hand did not have any of the items we were looking forward to trying.. the server said those items were no longer available. So we opted for steak and eggs, sandwiches and eggs Benedict. We also ordered a couple of different pancakes. The steak was allot smaller than we anticipated and the food was not what we expected. The epitome of what a modern day diner should feel like. Staff was the best!!!! Literally felt like friends bonding over our pets. Their breakfast cocktails were surprising delicious, I got a spiked cold brew alongside my original diner breakfast. From being seated by Adrianna to our meal ending in being serenaded by the golden voice of Terry for our anniversary. My family didn't care for the special syrup they use on the pancakes & waffles unfortunately. I asked for extra gravy for my chicken fried steak and was charged $6 for a side of gravy - unbelievable! This is the one thing I will remember about this place - being overcharged for something that is usually free at most other places. If they were going to charge a ridiculous price for a side of gravy when my meal that already comes with gravy, the staff should let customers know they will be charged a ridiculous price for that extra side of gravy first.. It just seems like they are nickel and dimming everyone who walks in OR maybe just taking advantage of visitors, while the regulars are treated with the red carpet level of service?? We were sat quickly, with the place about 1/3 full on a Saturday morning. I like they had special menu items for the season and their food portions were good size. One of my favorite places to go, but it is so frustrating how busy it always is. I can't tell you how many times we walked out because of the wait. Or had to wait over an hour when they tell you "it'll only be a 15m wait". I love the food, the workers are friendly, the ambience is cool, but constantly having to wait, and the hassle of waiting, really dampens the experience. Stopped by Winnie and Ethel's Downtown Diner and overall had a really solid experience. The service was good and our waitress was very nice and attentive. The potatoes were a highlight for me. They were well seasoned, tasty, and had a nice little crunch to them that gave great texture. I ordered the corned beef Benedict and substituted the English muffin for a biscuit. From bottom to top: the biscuit itself had great flavor, but it was a little too hard on the top and bottom and came out lukewarm. The corned beef had really good flavor as well, but unfortunately it was cold. My poached egg was cooked perfectly soft just how I like it, but it was also cold. The hollandaise sauce was excellently executed flavor wise, but again, it came out cold. I was offered to have it remade, which I appreciated, but it did take a while to get my plate the first time and I was starving at that point, so I decided to just eat it. Stopped by Winnie & Ethel's Downtown Diner and had a pretty mixed experience overall. Parking was easy with spots right out front, and we were seated immediately, which is always a plus. Customer service was great from the start...friendly, attentive, and welcoming. One thing I thought was really cool is their $6.50 bottomless coffee, which comes from a local women owned shop, Mothership Coffee Roasters. The menu itself is simple and easy to follow, with sections clearly labeled as savory and sweet, which made ordering quick and straightforward. For food, we tried a few different things. I ordered the country fried steak (with the pork option), and honestly, I wish I had gone with the chicken instead. The pork chop was overcooked and pretty tough, making it hard to enjoy. It also could've used a lot more gravy, and overall the dish just lacked flavor. The home fries were cut into very large chunks, which might work for some, but again, they were pretty bland and needed more seasoning. On the positive side, the over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly, and the biscuit was definitely a highlight...huge, fluffy on the inside, and nicely golden on top. My husband ordered the pork belly eggs Benedict on Texas toast. Unfortunately, that dish also fell a little short. The pork belly wasn't as crispy as expected, and the hollandaise sauce didn't have much flavor, which made the whole dish feel a bit flat. Overall, while the service and atmosphere were solid, the food didn't quite match the price point for us.
