    Cheese Pizza

Ordered delivery this past weekend based off Yelp recommendations. My delivery driver was very kind and patient finding my apartment (in the snow nonethless). The food came warm and was yummy. I expected the garlic knots to be a bit more flavorful than they were but they were okay. The wings and pizza were solid, nothing extraordinary but definitely not bad. I prefer crispier fries so I'm a bit biased against those. The price for all of this was very reasonable and I used one of their combo coupons for the pizza, wings, and garlic knots. Overall, a solid experience and will keep them in mind for the future.

Garlic knots were very oily unable to eat and they wouldn't make it right for us either

    Order of 12 wings

Staying at a hotel in the area and Amante was recommended by the hotel staff. I was a little apprehensive since some of the reviews on Yelp were worded with "Best pizza in the Troy area" The pizza may be the best if you live in the region, but for a boy from NYC the answer is No! The prices though are reasonable for a large pie with toppings. I had half with sausage and pepperoni and an order of 12 mild jumbo buffalo wings. The food took about 30 minutes to get here and the ordering was quick and easy as the guy who took my order over the phone was pleasant and gave me some discounts. When the pizza arrived I didn't have any plates, napkins or parmesan cheese. So make sure you request for these items when you place your order. The pizza itself looked beautiful with strategically placed toppings that made my 1st impression when I opened the box a surprisingly impressed one. Unfortunately, the dough was way too spongy and soggy and the sausage and pepperoni lacked any real flavor. I did however enjoy the wings, but wished they would have gave me more bleu cheese dressing since ithe container was not enough for 12 jumbo sized wings. Best pizza, maybe for the area. But if you're hungry it will get the job done.

Pizza crust is crispy and the sauce and cheese are great! Meatball sub has enough meatballs and plenty of cheese. Wasn't too soggy from the sauce. Really good!

Ordered a cheese pizza, besides being dry, it had no flavor and skimpy with the sauce and cheese.

And I thought I would have to give up on my desire to pop back in to The Ruck for a pint. On the way back to my hotel, I decided to just check to see what Dave and crew had on tap. Egads! Seriously folks, this bar is an embarrassment of riches. I only wanted to have one beer, but I left with three. Two I enjoyed on site, Hill Farmstead's Susan and the brewery's Society and Solitude #13. These are heavy hitters, and even just two five ounce pours put me in a place where I felt it would be imprudent to have a third. Fortunately for me, the crowler machine was fully functional, and I was able to grab an oil can of Weldwerks Xtra Xtra Broccolli to go. Beer names are stupid, but they will not dissuade me from drinking something delicious. Sadly, Dave wasn't there, so I didn't get to say hi, or shake his hand, or thank him for his hard work of managing such an epic tap list. Regrettably I rolled in late in the evening and the kitchen had already closed. No wings for me. Not even one of their special deviled eggs... which sounded delicious, btw. Welp, it was a very very good reminder for me to get back to Troy, arrive earlier in the evening, and move The Ruck back up to the top of my list. You Trojans are lucky to have this joint. Go there. Often. And rejoice.

The drinks came out quickly after we ordered them. The food took a decent amount longer. While we did wait 30 minutes for our food when it wasn't very busy , when it did come out it was hot and delicious. Flavorful wings, yummy disco fries/tots and some of the most well seasoned onion rings I've ever had. The atmosphere of the restaurant is classic pub food bar place but was well cleaned. Other than having to wait a little longer than usual for our food it was a great experience. We were so excited to eat by the time it came I did forget to take a photo of the food but it was all portioned well and well seasoned.

Immediate attention from a hostess. Waitress at the table within minutes, pleasant, experienced, just absolutely professional while at the same time being friendly and welcoming. The service alone is worth the whole 5 stars, so how do I rate the food? :) We ordered lasagna, I got the meat, my wife got meatless. Salad on the table minutes after we ordered. Nice salad, nothing fancy, good variety, lots of black olives, some sort of pickled pepper, decent croutons. Meals came within 10 minutes, piping hot, and just from looking I knew I was in for a treat. There was plenty of sauce, and not the thin watery stuff that seems to be called sauce lately. Rich, thick, had a great texture to it, not a bit of oiliness, and there was no orange water seeping out from under the food. You could actually taste tomato, and the spices, rather than just some slightly acidic red taste. Lasagna was a huge portion, actually a double in my mind. I ate until I was stuffed, and had enough left over to do that again the next day. There was sufficient cheese, and the meat was really tasty on its own, nicely seasoned. There is a great selection of deserts, and these days, premium cheesecake at $7.50 is a bargain. They offer tiramisu, which I love, but since I wanted to sleep that night I passed (the caffeine does a number on me now that I am old). I noticed some other reviews whining about pricing. Very hard for people to understand that restaurants are businesses, and they need to charge enough to pay staff, rent, overhead, food, and all the myriad of charges that small businesses have, plus produce enough profit so the owner decides the whole thing is worth the hassle. You want cheap food served? No problem, there are plenty of chain outfits around; don't complain when a premium restaurant charges enough to stay in business. Our two meals were a tad under $44 bucks, including tax. Given the absolute top quality of the food, and the size of the portions, in my mind, the dishes would have supported a extra $5 per. Testo's is for sale, and I hope that if it does sell the new owners respect what they bought and keep the tradition of truly superb food at reasonable prices going. I am amazed that after 40 some years in the area, and having driven by the place on business numerous times, that this is the first time I ate there. Our visit was prompted by a 94 year old relative, EXTREMELY fussy about food and more so about service, telling us what a great meal and experience he had there.

I ordered this as takeout and just had to take a couple of bites in the car before going home to try it nice and warm. This kind of sandwich is hard to find. A special roll needs to be used for this called a kimmelweck roll. A kimmelweck (or kummelweck) roll is a crunchy, Kaiser-type bread roll topped with coarse salt and aromatic caraway seeds, primarily known for defining the Buffalo, New York, "beef on weck" sandwich. Originating from 19th-century German immigrant traditions, they are usually filled with roast beef and soaked in au jus. The sandwich was loaded with juicy flavorful roast beef. The bun had caraway seeds and coarse salt all over the top of it which complimented the beef deliciously. It also had a horseradish sauce on the sandwich, so good. It was served with tasty fries and two little cups of au jus. I would definitely order this again.
