I love this little gem! I always stop when I'm in this part of town. This is one of those few shops where the tastebuds only throw a mutiny and the brain allows it, because that's the only way to keep control! We have been to Amaretti Desserts many times and it's one of the best small bakeries in Jacksonville (as far as huge selection and best bang for your buck!) You can easily get a good sized portion of a sweet treat for $5.75 or less. The Cake and Pie slice servings are large enough to share! Amaretti Desserts has a wide selection of Breakfast Pastries, Cookies, Pies, Cakes, Desserts. They also cater whole Cakes, Pies and Trays. Everything is made from scratch and fresh. While it's hard to go wrong with anything there, other Winning picks are the Derby Pie, Tiramisu, Red Velvet Oreo Cheesecake, and Carrot Cake. If you cannot decide, the staff is always friendly to help give their top picks for suggestions. There is also another location in San Marco connected to the San Marco Theatre. They have a similar selection but it is in a considerably smaller venue. I can't really find any minuses or criticisms other than the Old St. Augustine location is too close to work and wreak havoc on my week day healthy food regimen if I fall into dessert temptation ;) Tip: One of our "Go To" desserts (Chocolate Chip S'mores Bar) appears to be seasonal for the summer months. The bar consists of chocolate chip cookie top and bottom with layers of marshmallow spread and crushed gram crackers. It's a good sized portion for $3.75. It's definitely worth a try. read more

I cannot stress how much customer service factors in making or breaking my food experiences, and this bakery did not disappoint. There is an ample amount of options to choose from; eclairs, cupcakes, cakes, cheesecakes, and cinnamon rolls are only a few of the desserts I can recall at the top of my head. Can you imagine what this bakery smells like? Even more so, they serve coffee from our local Brass Tacks Coffee Company, which makes it perfect for an evening coffee-and-cake visit with your friends and family. I was warmly welcomed and helped when asking questions. Upon leaving, salutations were repeated and I was asked to visit again- and you know I will. Very good desserts! The prices are good too. We are in the market for a cake for a special occasion so we have been sampling dessert shops and this one is a definite maybe. My only complaint is I wish the cake part of the Oreo cake would have been a bit more moist. Other than that the Kentucky Derby Pie was heavenly, the Peanut Butter Pie started off great and got better with each bite and the Cannoli was sinfully delicious! I'm in paradise. Love this little place and didn't know it existed! The decor was nice and the desserts looked amazing! Oh the sweets were calling me to buy them and eat devour them. Lol. A good size dessert is about the size of your hand which I believe is plenty to share with others. They also have cakes and you can pre-order them. When I was there, they had made cakes for Thanksgiving and people had already pre-ordered them. Very smart thing to do and good business. I bought the Brownie and Blueberry Coffeecake. I died because it was so delicious. Most and not too dry. Made just right! I shared the Brownie and Blueberry coffeecake with a good amount of people at work and we devoured it so quickly. Seriously, I wanted to drive back and get more because it was so good! I would definitely recommend this place and I believe next time, I'll order a holiday cake. :) read more

This little coffee/dessert spot has the BEST chocolate silk pie! It's so creamy and delicious! We also tried the red velvet cheesecake. It was very good also, but I highly recommend sharing a piece with a friend! It's super rich! If you're looking for a good cappuccino, this is the place to go. So far those are the only items we've tried, but we definitely plan on going back for more. I will say you should get there early if there's a specific item you want. Items are made daily and definitely run out! We've only been in the evenings but have lucked out with them still having a few items left available. Everything we've tried so far is so good, which is nice since we get there later in the day. I haven't been able to try the plain cheesecake yet, so I plan to go earlier someday soon before it runs out! This shop is small, so there's not a lot of room for social distancing if you go during high traffic time. However, the shop is kept very clean, and masks are required for the employees and customers. We dined in once with no problems (the shop was pretty empty) and we took our dessert home with us another time. Everything is served in To Go containers anyway, so you could easily do both! ($4/5) Amaretti cookie- another home run, an amaretto/almond cookie...they have 2 kinds plain and coated in sliced almonds...both were absolutely delish, nice crust but gooey on the inside! So so so good!! I preferred the coated in almond one, I want one right now!! I didn't buy enough! ;) ($1/2) Coconut macaroons- Big generous scoops of shredded coconut baked yummyness, with the option to have bottom dipped in chocolate (of course!) loved it.($2/3) Cheese Danish- soft croissant pastry with sweet cheese in the middle, again just delicious!! Passed by on a spur of the moment when I saw that they serve Pura Bean coffee-- my all time fave coffee. A pretty good selection of cakes and cookies and sticky buns... sweet, sweet and more sweets! 5 tables of 4 for an inside seating.... would probably be even more comfy with some couch setup. No outside seating from what I can see. There was a sign saying wifi was free and a previous post referred to it being free, but alas, my kids' kindle devices remained off the grid since all connections were secured. This wasn't really such a big deal since they ended up being fully engaged in the sweetness of the massive cookies and milk they ordered. read more

This is so overdue. Was hunting down macaroons all over Duval when Yelp lead us here. Make sure you say French Macaroons. We called ahead before we traveled over to make sure they had some in stock for us to try out. But we get there and learn that they must be ordered ahead of time. No clue if this policy has changed. Since we were already there and hadn't gotten breakfast, we grab some drinks and treats for the road. Somehow we waited til we got back home to try out our sweets and I was disappointed. We should have purchased more! I love coconut and I love cupcakes so the German chocolate cupcake was a must along with the banana pudding cupcake. And chocolate caramel. And the sticky buns with all those pecans. I've returned on many occasions for those sticky buns. Drooling a little bit. Each individual dessert was maybe $2-$4 each (I can't remember). But you won't fell bad for whatever you purchase. Counter people are nice but not always the most informative. (I only drop in on the weekends.) The Kentucky Derby Pie was perfection. The woman at the counter described it as "a combination between a chocolate chip cookie and pecan pie." How would one NOT get that after that explanation? It was delicious: moist, chewy, crunchy, rich. The apple pie was to die for. Sweet chunks of apples and cinnamon with the most delicious & thick crust ever. Buttery and perfect! Chocolate revel bar: thick with chocolate, oatmeal, & nuts. Satisfying and weirdly delicious. Chocolate chip cookies: soft and they taste like they just came out of grandma's oven. Thick, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious. The cannoli was yummy. Very filling!!! As a bonus, the women at the counter were so kind and patient as my husband and I drooled over every item and asked what was in everything. This was the cutest little bakery! I was craving a dessert and I didn't want the usual cookie, cake or pie. Of course I jump on Yelp and saw this little gem. I walk over to the display case and my eyes locked on to the bread pudding. It wasn't your run of the mill bread pudding either. It was a white chocolate bread pudding with a white chocolate sauce! Yaaaaaaassssssss! I sat down and proceeded to "go to town" on that bread pudding. It was around $6, a bit pricey, but well worth it! If you're in Jacksonville and looking for a quaint, quiet, bakery that has some unique takes on desserts this is one place you should check out.
