Pie Heaven Bakery has been on my list to try for a long time. I finally made it! There was not much parking beside the small building. But fortunately I found a spot. There was a small patio with two tables in the front. I checked out the boards inside to see what pies were still available. I stopped by at roughly 1 PM. I wanted the coconut pie but that was gone and the employee suggested the coconut custard as she said it was her favorite. So I ordered one slice of coconut custard and a small chicken pot pie. I jumped into the pie after dinner later that evening. Oh my the pie was fabulous! Creamy and sweet with tons of coconut. But not overly sweet. The crust was flaky and delish also. Highly recommend the coconut custard! I waited a few days to heat the chicken pot pie in the oven. She added an instruction sheet in my bag which was helpful. The sheet explained how to heat up the pie as well as how long both the savory and sweet pies last once you take them home. The chicken pot pie was yummy! It was filled with lots of vegetables and plenty of chicken. The inside wasn't runny like most store-bought chicken pot pies but the filling was good! I wish the crust had gotten a little crunchier on the top. But maybe that's because I didn't bake it for three days. You can purchase slices of savory or sweet pies or whole pies. They are no longer taking orders for Thanksgiving but suggested you come by and grab one and freeze it. read more

I was in the area and really craving some coconut cream pie so my fiancée and I drove over to this little pie shop near Neptune beach. I wish I could say I had a great experience and that this was my new go-to pie shop, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The vibes here are rancid. Despite the uncomfortable experience (which I'll explain below), I would have still given two stars if I had liked the pie I purchased from here, but I did not. The woman running the shop told me that they were known for their pie crust and so I was hopeful, but ultimately disappointed in the flavor of the crust. The filling was fine. It tasted like your run-of-the-mill coconut cream pie, not unlike what you can purchase from a grocery store. The crust is genuinely where I had the biggest issue. It had an unpleasant aftertaste. I'm assuming that the shop uses either shortening or a cheap butter because it was all I could taste while eating my pie. And for the prices they charge here, $8 per slice and $14 for a small pie, was expecting more. To explain our uncomfortable experience here: My fiancée and I are a bit more on the alternative looking side and we were made very aware of it by the stares and weird looks from two of the three staff members that were working here. The only person who wasn't standoffish seemed to be the woman running the store. She said that she wasn't the owner, but that she had worked there for a long time and explained the shop's mission to me while my fiancé looked around. Though I'm disappointed in myself for not leaving right then, I was really craving some pie and as we were the only ones in the shop, I felt kind of obligated to get something. On our way out, I noticed the anti-abortion signs they had hanging in the shop and was again kicking myself for not leaving without purchase. In this day and age, you vote with your dollar; small and large businesses alike. It's obvious that my fiancée and I are not the target demographic for this shop, but perhaps someone reading this is. I just didn't appreciate how aware we were made of it during what will surely be our first and only visit here. read more

It is everything everyone else has already raved about. The Pot Pie is famous for good reason with the perfect crust to filling ratio. The Cornbread and Chili is another winner. The chili is mildly seasoned and the cornbread is thinly lined around the pan giving every bite a crispy crunch of slight sweet bread. And with the Pecan Pie the pecans are large and toasty and the filling is just the right amount of sweet without being cloying. Another perfect filling to crust ratio. What possessed me in the first place to pay $45.00 for their 'large pie' (not that large...just a regular pie plate size) still escapes me. I must have been on drugs. But, for them to charge that much to begin with (yeah yeah...I know they don't use hydrogenated oils, High fructose, etc) seems like Highway robbery to me. We've passed this little pie shop every time we go to the Mayport Ferry & decided to stop in this time & get some pies for Easter. We were greeted by an adorable older lady who gave us the lowdown on all their pies that were listed on a board. We could see pies cooling on racks in the back where 2 ladies were busily making pies. It was late in the day & they were out of a few types of pies I would have liked to try like the corn bread, and chicken pot pie. The nice lady said they don't use any preservatives & everything is fresh baked. Their large pies are $42 which I think is a little steep but since I haven't tried them yet I can't be sure it's not worth it. I ended up purchasing 2 small pies which are $15 ea. one was an organic cherry & the other an apple with raisins and frosting. I'm saving them to bring to Easter dinner at a friend's. I was told they would keep in the fridge for a few days since they were so fresh. I will update on the taste. Upon paying the lady put my pies in a bag & added a pamphlet about Jesus. I have heard from word of mouth I need to get here but just never seemed to be in the area until recently. I stopped by on a Friday evening and picked up some pies for 2 events the next day. My first was the Chicken pot pie. It was huge and weighty. We warmed it up in the oven as instructions stated until the homemade crust was browning and when it was cut you could see it was a truly a filled pie. It contained a gravy with vegetables like peas and organic chicken. It was delicious. Not sure why I waited so long to check them out. This place is delicious! When NYE rolled around I figured this was the perfect time to get some pie. Located right off Mayport Road in a stand alone building. There is some parking to the side of the building. This is more of a pick up and take home type place however there were a few spots to sit in and eat if you choose. Service was excellent. The ladies at the front of the shop were so kind and patient. They helped me pick a variety of slices and instructed me on the proper way to reheat. Slices and whole pie choices rotate but honestly every single thing we got was beyond delicious. Heh. No, the big one is not "family size". That is the proper size and the small one is a snack. A while back, I remarked that I'd hit every restaurant on Mayport road. This was definitely one of the last ones, even though I see it while driving past. It's local, delicious and convenient for the pandemic since I can take a pie and pop it in the oven at home. I do wish it wasn't quite so generic. Meat pies have incredible potential for umami and traditional American pies don't tap into it far enough in my humble opinion. One day I'll find a restaurant with a mutton curry pie or something more ridiculous, and it'll be my favorite. Until that day, I'm happy eating this. After having this place bookmarked for a while, I decided to head over there for their new creation - a pineapple cream pie - that I'd seen in one of their advertisements. I happened to go on a great day as the whole pies were going for $22 instead of $33, as per a Facebook post. And, I went in the middle of happy hour which has a buy one, get one pie slice special. It really was wonderful timing! Given that it was hot outside, I thought that a pineapple cream pie would be great for a sweet and cool treat. The owner told me that she created a pineapple pudding with whipped cream folded in and she added whipped cream and pineapples on top. As they only had one left for the afternoon, I had called in to put the pie on hold. When I arrived, it was ready for me. I also decided to get the country chocolate and apple pie slices. While I waited for my pies to be boxed up, I tried a sample of the coconut custard pie and a pinwheel made from their crust. The pies were all good but the country chocolate was my favorite. The filling was rich and creamy and it was the sweetest of the three pies. The unsweetened crust balanced the whole thing out well. I enjoyed the pineapple cream pie but the filling needed a little more punch as it was pretty "one note" and the apple pie could've used some more cinnamon and sugar and less crust. I look forward to coming back to try their savory pies and perhaps more of their dessert pies. read more
