My lamb schwarma plate included a store-bought flour tortilla (instead of pita), a pile of mystery meat, a cup of Uncle Ben's rice, a cup of Greek yogurt (instead of tzatziki), and an iceberg lettuce salad topped with Italian dressing. Love this place for their amazing hookahs. Typically any hookah lounges I have been to uses regular bowls for the hookah but Amasi uses fruit bowls for their hookahs, and they're really good and the flavor lasts for couple of hours. Service is also excellent as they check on your often and change the coals without needing to ask them to. read more

STINGY Ordered delivery and paid $4.50 for a side of hummus...which turned out to be approx 2 tablespoons in a container. I could have gone to the grocery store and bought a whole container for the same amount of money. Called the place and they said they were unwilling to make any changes. Such a disappointment. Very nice, relaxing hookah lounge. We went on a Friday night looking for something lowkey, and this place delivered. Music wasn't too loud, and hookah was good. Only con was they automatically give you a fruit bowl (which I am not a huge fan of and didn't order) but they may have regular bowls if you ask. We ordered the chicken shawarma, it was very good and tasted fresh. We also had the zaatar bread, it was also very good. Service was a little slow, but it wasn't too bad. Parking was also easy to find on the street right in front of the lounge. If you are looking for a relaxing night of hookah with good food options, this is a good call. read more

WORST PLACE EVER and here's why, I've been coming here for years and the previous owner is such a great host and the food was delicious, cheaper and ethnic. I came back after it was re opened under new ownership and the prices not only went up but this is the worst food I've ever had my entire life. Old white sticky rice (not middle eastern) mystery MEAT posing as shawarma ( i had to spit it out) couple green leaves downing in dressing. Here's the WORST part tho, tabouli was 5.96 ALMOST SIX BUCKS and they give you literally a small plate with a thin layer of tabouli (not a bowl) so like maybe 3 bites? RIP OFF. Hummus sucks. Bread was old and stale. Take your money to the many great middle eastern restaurants in west Philly. This place used to serve really good Iraqi food. Such a shame. And the owner was rude, they tried to rip me off they told me the bill was $45 but I had to calculate it MYSELF and turned out to be only $27 which is what I paid. One of my favorite hookah spots ! I love it here for more than one reason ! Ultimately, the hookah is amazing and is not overly priced. What I enjoy the most however, is the food. I love the shawarma, the hummus and mostly the foul. They are small, so they're perfect next to hookah. However, if you're hungry, you do need more than the sandwich and fries to fill you up. Music can change upon request but overall I love it. The music changed from English and Arabic. My only note is that it gets really cold sometimes, so dress appropriately. I love the ambience, seatings are far away from each other so you don't hear the party next to you. There are couch seating and individual chair seating. They're all clean and comfortable, so it's totally up to you. Totally find it best to hang out with friends but you can definitely study while eating or smoking. It's located at Temple University's campus, so it's a nice break from the school atmosphere. read more

The spinach patty was plain grocery bought pita bread with some flaverless green spices sprinkled on top. The description is a lie, there are no onions or spinach. The lamb shawerma platter was disgusting. The meat was drenched in salt to cover up the rubbery taste. I couldn't even swallow a bite without gagging. The falafel was stale and bland. This is my second time here, and they are absolutely amazing. Extremely down to earth and professional. The service was very fast when I ordered takeout and the food portion was generous. Great prices and the food is very fresh and flavorful . I ordered the lamb shawarma platter , which came with a nice light salad , rice, pita bread and a delicious dipping sauce. Hookah- All of the hookahs are made with fruit heads, they have any, and every flavor you could imagine. The hookahs are always well made, and come in a timely fashion. They are also made with large coconut coals. Food- The food is amazing I have been here and ordered take out many times, and have never had a bad experience. The food is all home made, including the fruit smoothies. Service- The service is always friendly, and attentive. They are very sweet both the women, and the men who work there. I ordered the lamb shawarma sandwich and falafel. The falafel was the worst I have ever tasted, it was extremely dry, I took one bit and had to spit it out. My sandwich was super dry, barley had any lamb in it, 4 pieces of soggy lettuce and for some reason A TON OF FRENCH FRIES IN THE SANDWICH!!!!!!! What shawarma comes with French fries in it????? Tried this place for the first time, quality of the lamb chops was dry and darn near burnt. The rice was blatantly dry as well...and still uncooked and the salad was warm and wilted. The waitress kept getting the order wrong. The pita with za'atar had been clearly microwaved and was not fresh. The fried hot appetizers were clearly fried in reused oil and thus had a flavor reminiscent of McDonald's more than a proper restaurant. The portions of the meat entrees were ridiculously small given the prices, and were greasy and not particularly flavorful. The pitas were dry and not fresh. Worst delivery food ever. Food arrived super late, was COLD (supposed to be hot) delvery woman was rude about being late. No apologies given.Food bag upon delivery was soaked through the bottom from soggy wilted salads we never ordered. The sides of the bag was soaked thru with liquid. Wet bag busted open with food spilling out on the furniture. Upon opening the Styrofoam take out boxes we realized nothing was what we expected, nor like the pictures. My lamb shawarma pita sandwich was served in a dry tough stale TORTILLA...not pita bread. The lamb was dry tough and drowned in allspice to the point of inedible. The fries were tiny broken soggy cold left over end pieces and practically non existent serving wise. The moussaka was mushed grease. Litetally a bowl of mushy tomatoes drowned in a cup of floating red grease. Again inedible...the rice was so dry it became see through and hard again. And had whole, huge allspice nuts left in it. Literally all you could taste was allspice overpowering anything else. The tabbouleh was nothing but oil, and parsley with barely any onions, tomatoes were non existent and forget it having ANY bulgar wheat. The parsley was wilted and tasted like like it was not at all fresh. The lamb chops I ordered for my husband were burnt, and I mean like charcoal, there were supposed to be 3. He got one actual chop and they were all burnt leftovers, one of which had been previously eaten. The other was nothing but a chared literal bone with no meat on it. My husbands "platter" had an old partially eaten tough gease soaked tortilla with a bite mark in it left under the "rice". He was horrified. We took multiple pictures of the horrid "food" as proof. None of it was edible. The worst eating experience I have ever had. Serving sizes for the price and quality were ridiculous. I will be reporting this place to health inspectors for serving previously eaten food. Which I might add is illegal to do. Asked for a full refund and was refused. This restaurant is very nice. Small and a lot of hookah being smoked but the food is really good! I ordered the mix grill and it was really amazing! My favorite part was the lamb, it was so tender and soft and flavorful. Next favorite was the shish tawouk grill. Was also very tender chicken breast didn't care much for the shawarma and the chicken and the beef kebabs. My husband enjoyed the shawarma the most out of his mix grill though. So i recommend you order mix grill and see what meat you like. I also ordered kibbeh and it was AMAZING! And the grape leaves also! So i recommend those! Definitely worth the money and the drive. If you're in the area stop here and have yourself an amazing carnivorous meal. Im sure they have amazing vegetarian options too but arabs are known for their meat so lol. read more
