Amaterra Winery is worth visiting for the scenery alone. The views of Mount Hood are absolutely stunning, and the property itself feels like a destination. Between the beautifully maintained grounds and the man-made waterfall, it's easy to spend an afternoon just soaking in the atmosphere. We visited during Portland Dining Month. While the food leaned more tapas-style and wasn't the main highlight for me, there were a few standouts. The gnocchi was excellent, and dessert was a perfect finish to the meal! That said, the wine is what truly shines here. If you're a wine lover or simply enjoy exploring wineries, this is a fantastic place to taste, relax, and take in the surroundings. read more

Had an awesome evening here! Ambience, space, and service were 10/10. You feel luxurious ans well-taken care of. The Portland Dining Month deals made this spot extra worth it. We sampled a selection of dishes and really enjoyed their smaller starters. The Burrata Tapenade was amazing! Our winner for the night. Desserts were also delicious. Their other dishes though, I'd say were alright. Great quality ingredients but the seasonings were a tad off. As a winery, their wines were a must. We got a couple of samples and tried the two pour combo which was a very good way to try a bunch of their wines. We liked all of our wines and definitely would want to try more. Mother's Day brunch at Amaterra's? Yes, please. Located in the Portland Metro area, with lots of parking. The place is beautiful and impressive. The grounds are well kept. We were greeted immediately and were led to our table. Service was on point, and personable. The brunch spread was delightful. They had all kinds of different options, from classic American to sweet, and savory items. Coffee and tea were included for $ 79.00 per person, and $39.00 for kids. Had the opportunity to visit Amaterra Winery on a weekday and was able to bask in the beauty of the views. Amaterra Winery is technically a members only establishment, but they have social and wine club memberships. They have a membership service for their social club where it's a one time fee of $25 but if you purchase two bottles (or more) and take them home they'll apply it. Service here was a bit slow and it seemed like we were the forgotten table, the server did their best to make it up but it definitely has us hoping for a better experience next time. I really did appreciate their acknowledgment though. The charcuterie board was a cute moment but they did forget our other food sadly. read more

The food was really tasty and they had a great variety on the lunch buffet that was served for our event. We had an award ceremony here from 11-3 and everything was great. The views are nice off the balcony featuring a good sized deck with a firepit perfect picture spot. The service was great and the staff were all so nice. The room was large with plenty of seating and still room to move around. Parking was a lot better this visit than the last because it looks like construction is coming along. They have valet parking as well. I had a vodka Ube lemon spritzer and it was light and flavorful. 100% would come back again for a non event for dinner. read more

What a beautiful winery! My honey surprised me with a date here and although it was foggy the day we went it was still beautiful! We were able to catch happy hour and restaurant month in PDX and they had the best deals for us to be able to try wine and different food. The food was amazing and the wine was of course tasty. I wish I had one in NC somewhere to visit! The staff were very sweet. One of the staff from NC came over to great us and we spent time talking about NC for a bit. Our experience was wonderful and I highly recommend visiting. Just be sure to check the weather before and be sure the views will be clear. Another epic experience at what just might be the best restaurant in the entire city of Portland, even if it is on the outskirts, located on a beautiful vineyard. As always, the views are stunning so do try to catch a sunset here. The entire staff remains incredibly polite, exceptionally trained, and really add to the positive overall experience. Unlike many wineries on the West Coast which look beautiful but leave me wanting in terms of spectacular wine, Amaterra delivers. Even though Im familiar with most of their wines by now, I still always enjoy doing their tasting flight. So far my favorites are their 2023 Pinot and their Eclater mixed red. Excellent wines! I also LOVE how their menu regularly changes which keeps each visit exciting. I also love how there's a dedicated wine snacks menu, as well as a happy hour. I'll preface with, you cant go wrong. There's exceptional talent in this kitchen and you can easily tell they're committed to using top quality ingredients. This visit we had: Swedish Meatballs - delicious! Def recommended. Cesar Salad - we love their homemade dressing. Brussel Sprouts - with local hazelnuts and cranberries, this was SO much better than expected. Im not even a fan of brussels and loved this dish. Also visually presented like a work of art. Oysters - my out of town guests loved this, I dont do raw oysters but they devoured them. Slider - (on hh menu), very, very good which is to be expected given how outstanding their Wagyu smashburger on dinner menu is. Short Rib - incredible. SOOOO good. Highly recommended. Risotto - I loved this and so did another guest. The other 2 though it was solid but preferred the other items. Sweet Potato Gnocchi with fennel sausage sauce. Wow! Some of the best Gnocchi I've had in some time. Every time we get guests visit us, we take them here. We also intend to treat ourselves more often as well. Firstly, the place is absolutely beautiful! I will definitely be coming back for a glass of wine but won't likely eat here. We went to the Holiday Tea experience and do not think it was worth the $89 per person fee. The teas were all Stephen Smith so they were solid. The different sandwiches were just ok, except for the crab salad (AWESOME). The service was just lacking - we barely saw our server. It looked like the other tables were being taken care of so it might have just been our server. It has an unreal view though, so the atmosphere makes up a lot. read more

We started with some wine tasting along with Charcuterie Board which has cured meats, pickled vegetables, dried fruit mostarda, whole-grain mustard, crackers along with Seasonal Curated Vegetable Antipasto. The food was freshly curated and we throughly enjoyed it with the wine tasting. We went ahead with the tasting flight and ended up getting their Chardonnay. We also had their tartines which were amazing. The winery has a distinctly modern aesthetic, setting it apart from the more traditional rustic vineyards. Cornbread - quite tasty by itself but once you add the jelly it takes to a WHOLE notha level!! Smokey, peppery and divine. The cream is nondescript however. Cauliflower - WOW! Another mind blower. Amaterra serves the best food of all wineries I've been to. And I've been to a handful of wineries in the region. Their team is very responsive to accommodate our food restrictions and very careful with the preparation. Additionally, this is one of the best looking places in Portland, and very conveniently located by the side of Cedar Mill and Forest Heights. Always love coming here for special occasions or just a nice place to hang out with friends... any time of the day, it never goes wrong! $25 lifetime membership trying to be exclusive but just ended up pretentious. They told us to go to the bar to order, the bartender told us to grab a table outside. Then we are told we can't seat ourselves? So which is it? Whatever, so we ordered flights with the bartender and managed to get a table. Waited for 10 minutes... nothing. I went in to check what's going on. The bartender wouldn't even look at me. I flagged down another one and the flights weren't even put in?? The new bartender actually got us a server named Ashley. When we walked in i was taken anak at how lovely the restaurant and view were. We were greeted with smiles and decided to sit at the bar for lunch. The bartender was excellent. She knew so much about the region and the wines. She guided us to beautiful selections. We have passed down our winery memberships lately but thought these wines were so outstanding and unique that we signed up for a membership. I came here for a dinner one day and had a great time. One thing to be aware of is that there is a $25 social fee that you have to pay to dine here, which I thought was really interesting. The inside of the restaurant is bright, open, and very nice. Staff is friendly and service is quick. I got two flights of wine, their smoked salmon spread, wild shrimp ceviche, burrata & confit smoked peppers, grilled beef flat-iron steak, roasted half chicken, and dessert. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend their smoked salmon spread or burrata & confit smoked peppers as those were my favorite dishes. Portion sizes were pretty reasonable and plating was beautiful. Gorgeous winery with high wooden vaulted ceilings inside and a view of the vineyards and forest outside. The service was wonderful and they brought over a complimentary crostini taster with our wine tasting flights. What is spectacular gem in the hills of SW Portland! It's a winery, it's a restaurant, and it's a legit atmosphere worth experiencing. I went for a networking event and was very impressed with the customer service of the staff as well as the food. The wine also did not disappoint. I had the 2021 Pinot Noir and was impressed by its complexity and distinct minerality. The property itself is absolutely stunning, and the views are spectacular. The facility was very clean and I would absolutely recommend this place for a special event or noteworthy occasion. Apparently, there is a one time $25 fee if you wish to be a social guest and then there are options to join their wine clubs at different tiers. Come for the experience, stay for the food, definitely have an extra glass of wine, and take a break from that long trip to Dundee and just stay in Portland for a lovely change of pace. The staff were enormously helpful, allowing us to construct a wedding canopy at the Winery the day before our wedding. The restaurant was a 4/5 and while beautiful (as some have said like a scene out of TV), I had a hard time with a $250 bill for two people who had scallops, oysters and a couple drinks. On top of that we had to pay $25 to dine there for a social fee? Seems at some point that should get waived if you are dropping over $200 in dining and wine. Overall, the scallops were way too cheesy and felt super heavy.. I wouldn't order them again. The service was great, and she did a good job of checking in so 5 stars for that. We stopped by the patio concert going on which happens Thursday 5-8pm and that is something I would definitely recommend. Wine was 3/5 for me. Gorgeous views and elevated ambiance. Love the big windows, outdoor seating, and overall vibe. The winery is beautiful and I really enjoyed the wine that I ordered. They also have live music in the summer and offer a great space to host events. The service is fine, but nothing stellar (however, we were sitting at the bar). The bartender/server was friendly, but it was hard to get their attention at times. Given the cost of the food and social membership, we were expecting a bit more attentive/personable service or to at least be provided with more information on the wines as they were pouring them for us. We ordered a few menu items and really loved the beet salad. The meatballs tasted good but came out cold, and the crispy cauliflower was very fried, sort of tempura style, and just didn't hit the mark for us. Overall, I'd still recommend Amaterra for its beautiful scenery and wine. I think it's a great spot to grab a glass, order a snack, and enjoy the view.
