Personable owners, nice selection, and super close to home! I'll be stopping in regularly for tastings and buying wine!

This review is from a visit last year. No idea if things have changed since then but I sure hope…read moreso. We had a gift card here so gave it a go. Seated upstairs so felt bad the waitress had to go up and down many many times. The empanadas were awful. I am being extremely honest. It seemed as if they were pre frozen and lacked flavor and filling. We were so surprised at the quality and price. I also had the shnitzel and it had no seasoning and was so bland. With a sad excuse for chimichurri. That seemed haphazardly put together, again lacking any flavor. Was it an off day based on the amount of people raving? Maybe. But also maybe they aren't aware of the better options in Portland so lack the awareness of true potential in this cuisine. I recommend Lechón if you want real chimichurri and empanadas.

We tried four empanadas (chorizo, pollo spicy, humita, and imposter) along with an order of papas, and that was more than enough for the two of us. Each empanada had a wonderfully flaky, golden crust. The fillings were flavorful and distinct; the only one that didn't quite win us over was the imposter, though that's probably just a matter of taste. The papas were crisp and perfectly seasoned too. Service could have been a touch more attentive, especially given the place wasn't too busy, but overall, it's a lovely new addition to the neighborhood -- cozy, tasty, and full of potential.

Hors d'oeuvres recommended being the charcuterie board and bread and butter plate. We also sampled a rosé and a Pinot Gris, not disappointed. Two of us took home the Pinot Noir without much pressure. Delicious. We had a set of wonderful servers that were both educational and courteous, Lindsay & Dietrich. Honestly, I stayed after my group exited to enjoy the deck, the view and possibly another glass of crisp Gris. .

From the beginning, her tone came across as unwelcoming and dismissive. While I understand that accommodating a large group can be challenging, it felt as though there was little effort made to help us or make us feel valued as guests. Even if accommodations weren't possible, a simple "We'll do our best" would have gone a long way. When we arrived for our reservation, we were immediately asked, "Are you going to eat?" which felt unnecessary and gave the impression that our business wasn't wanted. We were then told that the majority of our group needed to be present before we could be seated, despite having several people ready to sit down, order drinks, and begin spending money while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. That said, I want to recognize our waitress, Morgan, was wonderful. She was patient with our orders, attentive without being intrusive, and gave our group the space to enjoy our conversations and time together. Morgan's service was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience. Overall, the issue wasn't the policies themselves--it was the way they were communicated. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome, and unfortunately, that was not our experience with the front-of-house management.

FYI: the charcuterie vending machine was temporary, and they are now back to an a la carte charcuterie board menu. I had a tasting flight, and enjoyed the depth of flavors and variety in the wines -- lots of unique and beautiful fruit notes! I ordered the vegan balsamic cheese and OMG!!! Soooo creamy and delicious!! I also ordered the mushroom jerky -- well worth it! It's not as tough as beef jerky, which makes it easier to eat. And the flavor is bomb -- definitely tastes like mushrooms and jerky mixed together. The kind lady working the business on the day we visited gave me extra complimentary crackers and apricots. :) She was absolutely wonderful, and it's safe to say the service here was top notch. It was an unusually cold day in Portland (just after their unprecedented snowstorm this year!), so the seating room was crazy cold. That's my only complaint. Lol Highly recommend this business, and hope to go back for more vegan cheese and jerky when I can!
