This place has been on my radar for awhile now - it pops up every now and then on lists for a great place to grab wings. Off we went... we started with a plate of cheesy crinkle fries, cooked perfectly. I was impressed by one thing that many restaurants don't do - they layered the cheese within the fries. So cheesy all over, inside and out, and not just on top. SCORE! I went with just six wings, and that just was the perfect amount to share with others who wanted to taste it. They weren't huge pieces, but plenty juicy, nicely crisp and overall pretty good, with just the right hint of mild buttery buffalo sauce. Recently, my daughter and I ordered takeout/delivery from Amato Bros for the first time. When I called in my order, it was answered promptly by a very friendly young woman. She was patient with me as I asked a couple of questions about specific hoagies. I ordered my own version of an American hoagie (imported ham, Genoa salami, American cheese). My sandwich came with my choice of both a canned soda and chips. I added on a small side of onion rings. My daughter decided on a chicken Caesar salad (dressing on the side). I was told delivery would be about 35-45 minutes (it's not exactly nearby). A few minutes after hanging up, I realized that I forgot to ask for sweet peppers on the side with my hoagie. I quickly called back and the same friendly person answered and said it would be no problem. Even with my additional request, our order arrived promptly, in just under 30 minutes, hot/cold for mine and cold for hers. She enjoyed her salad very much and even had enough to save for lunch the following day. The hoagie roll was just right (Philly people know what I'm talking about). It was filled with a generous amount of my requested meats and cheese. The homemade beer-battered rings were hot and busting out of the "small" container. They were crispy and reminded me of the kind my mother used to make. LOVE this place! We frequent here often for lunch. They have the tastiest sandwiches and lunch specials in the area, nowhere else compares, at all! Rolls are great, fries are so good and portions are huge! They have a tiny dining and bar area, but we have always been lucky to find a seat and our waitress has always been so accommodating and sweet. During some recent home renovations, the time had come, looking for a different place to pick up take out lunch for myself and the crew, I put in an order for pickup. The menu is extensive, if you cant find what you want here, you might not be hungry. We ordered up a Chicken Tender Platter; (5) delicious tenders, fries and coleslaw. Served with BBQ sauce or honey mustard. This received rave reviews from the person that ordered it. We also tried a few of their Chicken cutlets, the Cutlet Italiano with sharp provolone & sautéed broccoli rabe. These were fantastic! Fresh real chicken cutlets not the frozen mass produced cutlets. We really enjoyed the delicious food and have made Amato Brothers a regular on our list of lunch spots. They have off street parking lot, a nice selection of takeout beer featuring new craft brews from the area & around the country. If you want to eat in, they have a front dining room and bar with 16 taps & over 50+ bottle selections and cocktails. We're recently new to the area and have stumbled upon Amato Bros. We continue to be impressed with all the items on their menu. Located in Oaklyn, NJ (Camden County), and located very close to my house. They offer a wide variety of sandwiches, hoagies, cheesesteaks, etc. and everything we've gotten has been delicious. I personally love the Italian sub - it's huge! A deliciously soft hoagie roll with salami, capicola, pepperoni, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Each bite had a perfect amount of meat. We've also ordered the Mother Cutlet sandwich - juicy grilled chicken topped with roasted red ppepers, mozzarella, and broccoli rabe. I drizzled a little balsamic it and it really popped. My boyfriend's personal favorite is the chicken tender platter. Lately we've been on a chicken finger kick. 5 large tenders served with a billion fries. We initially tasted them on the munchie platter (tenders, fries, onion rings, moz. sticks, fried raviolis and broccoli cheddar bites). Everything else was fine, but we had to get more of those tenders. I recommend Amato Bros if you're looking for a delicious sample with great quality. In fact, their menu is so big that it feels like you're reading a novel, but that's not a bad thing because the quantity definitely matches the quality. I can't say enough good things about Amato Bros. The atmosphere is welcoming, like you're hanging out in a friend's basement bar, but with better food & good drinks. The staff, especially Chris, the bartender/manager, is super colloquial & I find myself excited to see him behind the bar because he's just a cool dude to chat with while we're dining/drinking. There's always a good beer selection, but even the seasonal cocktails don't disappoint. I wouldn't usually trust a gin cocktail to a bar in a hoagie joint, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself dreaming of English garden parties on a cold first day of winter. My guy ordered a dirty vodka martini on the whim of a craving & it was executed to his taste: not too dirty, not just vodka with some olives. The food really stands out here. The menu is huge (HUGE), & there is something for everyone. I struggle to choose each time I'm in because the chicken cutlet sammies are drool-worthy (my guy literally thinks about them all day), but the hoagies (including the meatless options) are also memorably delightful. They make some really good sandwiches here. The Caprese and the Old World Italian were both delicious. I don't typically go for an Italian hoagie, but they have 7 different versions, and the Old World was calling my name. It has prosciutto, soppressata, dry cured hot capicola, and sharp provolone. Any time that I can get a sharp cheese on a sandwich is a plus. The Caprese tasted fresh and cool. The menu can be tough, because it is so extensive. I would enjoy systematically going through the entire menu. The Baton Rouge Wings are terrific. I don't exactly know what the baton rouge sauce is, but it was very tasty. The wings weren't the biggest, but they were cooked well. I've only every gotten delivery or pick up. I hear that they have a little bar in there. We have used Amato Bros to cater different events in our home, and have always been extremely impressed with the quality of the food, and bang for your buck. For our recent party, we mistakenly said that we would pick up our food (instead of having it delivered). When we realized our mistake, we were minutes away from guests arriving. When we called Mike to explain our mistake, and ask if he could please help us out and deliver our order, he didn't hesitate. He was at our home in minutes with our order. The menu is your typical take out fair of burgers, cheese steaks, etc. Some of the sandwiches had unique toppings on them as well. We decided to order wings with the Baton rouge sauce and I got the Hellfire burger because I love spicy food. The food didn't take long and I picked it up in 20-25 minutes. The wings were delicious and I dug the spicy/tangy sauce. Hellfire burger was spicy, but not over the top. It was also juicy. The fries were your typical frozen fries, but decent. The bar is a bit small, but that's not an issue from my stand point. As far as the wings.. they're a good size. Not your tiny wings you'd get from Buffalo Wild Wings. However, the sauce was lacking! It's getting way better! The first time we were back since the rebuild was completely awful. Poor service horrible wings. Literally sat for 25 minutes before anybody even acknowledged us. The second visit was much better. Prompt service and good food. Third visit was great. Good service and great hoagies.
