Outrageously overpriced pizza! The pizza is good and loaded with toppings but I don't care how much you pile on, it is not worth the money. For the price you would think you are eating and ordering pizza at some high end restaurant. No, this is just a REGULAR pizza joint. Not some Michelin rated fine dining establishment. They also like to rip you off on top of the expensive pizza because they are greedy. I ordered an extra large pizza and it came in a 14" box. Their menu clearly states an extra large is 16". Not sure how you fit a 16" pizza in a 14" box? Called them to say maybe it was a mistake and gave them the opportunity to make it right. Nope, no credit back for the difference. All they offered was a free medium 12" pizza. That's some great customer service! Been reluctantly giving my business to them for the last 12 years even though it's pricey because they are a local small neighborhood business that I wanted to support. I love Amato Pizza because they're local, family owned, and they pack on the toppings. My husband and I recently got take out for an Amato Pizza in XL size. We just dug in as soon as we got home. The ingredients are fresh. I was surprised I didn't even find one wilted piece of basil on our pizza. We ate about 1/3 of the pizza before I realized I forgot to take a photo! I also have a photo of the aloha bbq chicken pizza in XL size from a few years ago. It looks like their topping game is strong and so is the freshness of their pizza. They share a parking lot with Lucky's and several other shops/restaurants. Parking is plentiful and easy. read more

This used to be my favorite place for pizza, but sadly, I won't be coming here ever again. I ordered an XL pizza and paid for it. My husband picked up the pizza and served it to friends. I later noticed the empty pizza box on the counter and realized it was definitely not an XL. It looked more like a medium or large at best. It was too late to call and get the problem fixed so I stopped in the following day. I explained the situation and instead of offering to give me a refund for the difference, I was offered a medium pizza. I'm happy to pay for what was consumed, but not ok with being told that it's a new day and there's nothing they could do in terms of a refund. The owner didn't even have the courtesy to call me and relayed the message through his staff. It's too bad. They've lost a few loyal customers today. read more

Amato? More like VOMato. The giant flatscreen menus are useless since they don't list any prices. Instead, we shared one menu that was laying around (no others in sight). $30 for medium pizza? Maybe that's why they weren't posting prices. We got garlic bread, fries, a soda (convenient self-service) and a calzone. They over charged me 51 cents. When I pointed it out, the man seemed bothered and gave me the coins without saying a word. The garlic bread was simple but good, cheesy and buttery. However, the fries (served with ketchup packets on top) were so bad we left a quarter of them behind. They tasted like unsalted, day old microwaved fries with burnt tips. I looked around to see if Ashton Kutcher revived Punk'd and was videotaping us. The $16 calzone sprinkled with unmelted cheese was a joke. It was small and was 70% hard bread, with probably five pepperoni, four olives, three mushrooms, two turtle doves... Not much cheese and about a spoonful of sauce. I asked for some sauce and was handed a plastic cup of ice cold marinara. The brightly lit single room felt like a burger joint and it felt as Italian as Jackie Chan. If you look at my 2200+ reviews, you will see it's very rare for me to give a restaurant less than three stars...but this restaurant(?) was very disappointing. read more

Haven't got the pizza yet, ordering was a painful process. First time I called, I got hung up on.... called again and the person could not hear me because it was very loud in the background. Then I was asked to "hold-on" To top it off - her English was terrible. I've ordered from this restaurant ever since they have been in business. They say "support local" - it becomes difficult when you can't place an order without repeating yourself 3 or 4 times. Extremely frustrating. Crossing my fingers I get what I ordered, because I have no idea that what I said was translated well. OMG, this is what the world needs. I work construction, two weeks ago I ordered a pizza at amato's in Almaden area. I ordered to go and went to visit a job site nearby. The homeowner had lots of questions and I had another appointment. Long story short. I never went back for the pizza I paid for. Today in the way to the same customer, the owner remembered and insisted that I did not pay for my pizza. Highly recommend this place. Local family owned amazing pizza and over all good people. Went there to try their deep dish despite the fact that I knew it was going to be overpriced. The food quality was good but their idea of deep dish leaves me wanting. Closer to a thick crust than deep dish. They made a mistake on the order so it took longer than expected but they did give us the mistake pizza as a consolation prize. That was cool. This is our go-to place with our friends when we are in the neighborhood. The dining room is spacious with plenty of tables and benches that aren't too close together, the kids are distracted by the mini arcade, and we parents get to finally catch up.
