However, there didn't seem to be enough servers to consistently tend to the tables. There was a significant gap between our initial order and the next time we were checked on. *Hugo Spritz: a bit too fizzy and bland. I wished the elderflower liqueur was more prominent. The mint added some freshness, but overall, this was a disappointing beverage. *Garlic Fries: the best item of the night, and we ordered a second round. These came out piping hot and crispy, smothered in garlic seasoning. Extremely fragrant and easily the standout. *Mothra Wings: we selected lemon pepper, and these had a rather baked quality. The skin was soft while the meat was moist, resulting in a juicy but damp texture. I prefer a decent crunch on my wings. *Porky Blues Pizza: the crust was light with little char. It ran a tad dry, but I appreciated that it wasn't overly greasy. The blue cheese provided some funkiness in each bite, while the garlic oil was too muted to add much savoriness. The bacon offered some smokiness, and the sausage was tender. *Spicy Bamboo Pizza: my preferred of the two, as the Calabrese pepper offered a good kick. I find it funny that the name contains bamboo when there was very little greenery on the pie. The pepperoni crisped up well, and there were plenty of those tasty cups. However, the sauce lacked enough depth to tie all the proteins together. The fries were the highlight, while the wings and pizzas were more average. The pizzas were well made but didn't offer anything particularly memorable in terms of ingredients or concept. The cheese and tomato sauce could be further elevated to justify the nearly $40 price tag. Hard pass on the drinks, though. Jtown Pizza is trying to provide a full-service experience, but the lack of follow-up made the service feel inconsistent. Cool place in San José's Japan town. The decor is Godzilla themed. Everywhere you look, there he is, even in the bathroom! It's two levels anf I think they have a patio too. I was so excited to come back here after being sad they had closed. However, idk what about the pizzas this time it just didn't taste as good as before and also the vibes here has definitely changed. Now they are rubbing more like a sit down restaurant where they will bring you to a table and take your order there - which is fine. But something about the pizza sauces just didn't hit the same as before. I got their special for the World Cup that's suppose to be pesto and margarita sauce but the pesto was very much 1% there. The pizza sauce tasted a lot sweeter than I would have liked. They also don't let you do half of each pizza anymore which sucks and was a big reason why we liked going especially for the price. When we heard that Jtown was reopening, we were super excited. Going there tonight was super disappointing. The service was good-VERY friendly servers, but timing was awful. They've switched to table service which seems nicer, but because of the two-story setup may be the reason for the slow service. We waited over 30 minutes for our pizza on a Sunday night, with not even a half full restaurant. When our food finally arrived, it was cold. The main reason for eating pizza in house as opposed to take out is for the piping hot extra gooey cheese. I also feel like the quality has gone down a lot. The sauce wasn't as flavorful and the dough tasted more store bought and didn't have the same chew it used to. And with the increase in prices, the quality should be the same or better. We'll probably give it another try before abandoning it altogether, but my hopes aren't high after this experience. read more

I'm so sad to hear this place closed suddenly. We had a lovely experience and were hoping to go back soon! We ordered the Godzilla and house saald. Pizza was hot and cheesey, and the salad was crisp and fresh. It had my favorite pepperoni, the cupping kind, that gets extra crispy. The staff was great. It was a nice location in Japan town and parking was fairly easy. We enjoyed sitting outside in a nice spacious, clean patio. Prepaid at the counter first but the waitress noticed we were sitting down for dinein and adjusted without a word from us. I've been putting off coming here for a while, mostly because my daughter loves Pau Hana Shaved Ice around the corner, so I'm always in the area but never made it inside. My first thought when I walked in was what a cool, trendy little place with TVs everywhere and a great beer menu. I'd heard about the garlic fries and the upstairs area, so those were definitely on my to-do list. I ordered the garlic fries and a sandwich and was honestly shocked that it was over $30. Thank goodness I wasn't eating with my friend, who usually brings the bill up to forty dollars when we're together! I ate most of the fries there and took the rest home, and they were perfect after a quick warmup in the air fryer. The upstairs was so quiet, we had the whole area to ourselves. The only thing is, it seemed like the employees hang out there on their breaks, which I don't really blame them for. One weird thing I noticed is that all the TVs were on silent without closed captions. We were watching preseason football, and it would've been nice to have one or the other. And on top of that, one TV was way ahead of the other on the same game, which was really strange. No good for scoring runs. The decor and feel of the place were great, though. The garlic fries were the bomb, and my sandwich was super meaty and good no skimming on the garlic or the meat. I couldn't decide on a pizza, so I went with my usual go-to sandwich, but I'll definitely have to try a pizza next time. I should have asked if I could go off-menu because I love me some ham and pineapple. Yes, I said it, and yes, pineapple does belong on pizza. Overall, JTown is a true hidden gem and an extremely good place. I came here a few years ago with my wife's family. We had a great time eating on the rooftop. We all ordered a pretty big spread: 3 large pizzas, wings, peppers, etc. I'm a huge fan of their Hawaiian pizza and regular pepperoni sausage. Their pizza comes out freshly made and the crust has this nice crisp to it. The toppings are premium so it's not that cheap fast food type ingredients. The slices are fairly big too so that's a plus. Parking in the area is kind of hard to get with most of it metered. The building is very cool with seating down stairs upstairs and outside. The upstairs where we sat has at least 3 televisions in different locations. On the walls you will find murals of Godzilla "I thought that was cool as I'm a huge Godzilla fan" We ordered a pitcher of coke and a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was super oily but to be honest is was really good! I was expecting pizza to revisit me later that evening "if you know what I mean.... Heartburn " but it never did. I can tell this is a great spot for it because of the aura and place in itself. The service was awesome and quite accommodating. Went here for lunch the other day with the family after spending time at the museum. Pros: the best hours in Japantown for lunch on a weekend (open for lunch beyond 2pm!) the food is tasty! I enjoyed the sloppy Joe sandwich, my favorite bite. Elevated childhood comfort food! Pizza reminds me of Round Table, also a childhood comfort food, before the artisan pizzas came out! Service was good, friendly, helpful, and kept on bringing refills of the refillable drinks, without being asked! Cons: the meatball egg roll was a disappointment more wrapper than meatballs. If they get the ratios right, it could be a winner. I was paying more attention to the sandwich portion of the menu, missed that they have okonomiyaki, so looking forward to coming back to try that! read more
