Stopped by this downtown pizza spot today (Friday around 5pm) and it was the perfect time to go--not too crowded at all. We ordered the Margherita and the Diavola, and both were excellent. The Margherita had the perfect balance of tomato sauce and cheese--simple, fresh, and done right. But the Diavola really stole the show: super flavorful with just the right kick of spice. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the quality was spot on. Easily my favorite pizza joint downtown. Can't wait to come back! read more

Yeah Pizza Bocca Lupo is a solid option for San Pedro Square, but overall, I think it's a bit overrated. If you're hanging out with friends in San Pedro Square, it's quite alright. Otherwise I would never come here. The lunch special is a decent deal, otherwise The pizza is quite pricy and the quality is just ok. I would much rather go to slice of homage / square pie guys which is not too far away. Enough talk. read more

Pizza Bocca Lupo is a solid wood-fired pizza spot right in the heart of San Pedro Square. The margherita was excellent: simple ingredients done right, with a nicely charred crust that had great texture. Exactly what you want from a wood-fired pie. We also grabbed a bottle of red wine to go with it, which was a nice pairing. The wine list is limited, but they offer both full and half bottle options, which is a thoughtful touch. Add in the live music happening in the square while we ate, and it made for a really enjoyable outing overall. read more

Always a hit. When I'm not making Neapolitan pies at home this is the second best choice for me! The pies are always 10/10! The crust, the toppings, the flavor. Guys there are awesome, the price is right and the oven is just so nice to look at. Try the margherita first! Something so simple yet often made horribly by other establishments. This is such a fun place to visit! Pizza Boca Lipa is located in the San Pedro Square Market, which included several restaurants and a large outdoor space for dining and live music. This is THE spot to go before sharks games to get a good bite and drink. The pizza was baked in a pizza oven and had amazing crust and toppings! I was able to split the pizza with a friend and it was more than enough food. The cashier is also very friendly and was happy to give recommendations! read more

I came here on a Friday night. San Pedro Square was poppin as usual. I needed to eat something with my AMF and I decided to get pizza as a quick meal. I ordered the "Joe's special" $20. It was a combination style pizza on a thin wood fire crust. Ngl it was pretty dang good. So worth, I enjoyed it. The ingredients were well spread out and flavorful. Service was super nice! I forgot my credit card in their machine and when I went to pick up my order, they confirmed with me that I had forgotten my card and they held onto it for me. GREAT SERVICE. THANK YOU. read more

I had lunch at Pizza Bocca Lupo with a friend yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day, so we sat outside under an umbrella. Since it was a weekday afternoon, it wasn't too crowded and we could enjoy our lunch and our conversation. Both of us ordered the lunch pizza special--half salad and half pizza. The amazing counter person was incredibly kind about checking on ingredients to help me with my food allergies, and because of her I was able to have a delicious lunch. I added extra fresh mozzarella on my Margherita pizza (gilding the lily but oh so yummy). The arugula and field greens salad with gorgonzola and dried cranberries added just the right amount of bite, creaminess, and sweetness to the mozzarella, crushed tomato, and basil on the pizza. The Neapolitan style thin crust was perfect to me, with a nice chew to it. read more

I had jury duty nearby (civil courthouse) and wanted to grab something for lunch. I have been here many times, and while I do think their pizza is good, I thought they had a better variety in the past, since it had a little more esoteric toppings. Still, it's good that this place is still going, and I'm happy to get a thin-crust, quick-cooked pizza. Specifically, I wanted to mention their lunch special. It's a great deal, a half a pizza and salad for about $12. Add a few bucks for a beverage, and it's still a relatively well-priced lunch. Also, I like how it is made fresh to order. The portion size is good for a satisfying lunch but won't overload you. The salad they give you is kind of small, like a side salad size, but it is fancy with cheese and dried fruit. One of the things that I really enjoy about San Pedro Square is that there are a lot of places to sit and eat, outside and inside. Also if you go with someone who doesn't want to get pizza, they can go their own separate lunch and meet you outside to have a seat together. read more

Eh, just an okay margherita pizza. Delicious red sauce but it was so watery that the slices were super floppy (had to eat the slices folded-NY-style otherwise would've made a huge mess). Crust wasn't exceptionally fluffy and was even kinda leaning towards the tough side. Overall not a bad spot if you're craving for pizza at San Pedro Square Market but wouldn't say that it's a must-try. read more

In the heart of San Pedro Square marketplace is this pizza spot. San Pedro Square marketplace is a popular spot to watch sports games with lots of food spots and drinks to order. Food:10/10 I got a margherita pizza and the ingredients are so fresh and the cheese was perfectly melted. There was more than just 2 basil leaves in my margherita, which is a plus too. Their pizzas are not very crispy but they are from a wood oven and I like that the pizza isn't too oily. The pizza is cut into only 4 slices, but shareable amongst two people. The price is fair for the quality and taste. Ambiance: In front of the pizza place, there are high tables and high chairs, there are also booths you can sit at too. You can order on the kiosk or in person. The workers are very friendly. There's a parking garage across the pizza place and plenty of street parking spots too. This is now my favorite food spot in the San Pedro Square marketplace. Looking forward to my next pizza craving!:) read more

Superiore 5/5 stars Perfect ratio of meat to cheese to sauce to crust. Service--you can order at the kiosk or at the register. The gentleman at the register gave us suggestions and he did not miss. Pizza is decent here. Not bad, but not wow amazing either. For me this is the okay I can eat this pizza and I would not be mad. I did have to add additional toppings like pepperoni and garlic, but if the pizza is going to be 19 dollars on its own for an individual size plate, I think you should comp on some of the toppings. Not a cheap pizza to say the least. They were pretty busy, but quick about getting the pizza cooked and again can't complain about the taste. I just need to try more Neopolitan style to actually compare this to. I do love that they use the brick oven and actual wood and fire for all their cooks. San Pedro Square is always a fun and cool place to come and hang out very good place just to come and socialize with your friends and peers. read more

I've been coming here for a few years. At first, it was one of my fav pizza places. In the last 6mos to a year, the quality has tanked exponentially. I've been embarrassed to recommend my friends here. One time I came to eat with a group...recommended this pizza. The pizzas were soggy, floppy, runny and hella skimp on toppings. I've decided to assume that everyone has a bad day and I keep trying and wishing it was like the old quality standard. Today, I asked for extra toppings and extra fire in the oven as I do not like soggy pizza. As you can see by my photos.... Soggy central. This pizza is not worth the "San Pedro Tax" (aka higher prices, etc) The positive, sauce and flavoring is great. read more

Haven't been back in a while. This style of margherita is different from what I remember: less floppy and with speckling on the mozz, presumably from high heat. Kind of unusual, like Neapolitan style leaning towards NY, but I really like it. And the sauce tastes fantastic. read more

Always a great choice for a large, happy hour group. A few pizzas go a long way. They can cut them into 8 slices instead of 4 upon request and provide extra plates and napkins. Three pizzas came out to about $75 - not bad for getting a few bites in for 12-15 people. All the menu options are delicious combinations so I find it's hard to decide (a good problem to have). I am always drawn to the Diavola, but today after having the chance to try three different ones side-by-side I may start gravitating to the Superiore. Joe's Special was not bad, but the mushrooms were not as prominent as I would have hoped. We also ordered the chicken pizza, and all slices of all pizzas were finished despite some people supposedly not hungry. Pretty sure I have also ordered the Quattro Formaggi and Margherita in the past and enjoyed them. read more

I've had pizza from Pizza Bocca Lupo a few times now and they're always pretty solid. You are able to customize your pizza if you want to but you cannot do half/half of two flavors unfortunately. Their wood fire oven always makes great quality pizza and their dough makes a great base each and every time. The last time I was here, I tried their pesto pizza and added chicken, tomato, and basil with a side of ranch. It took less than 10 minutes for it to be ready despite it being a really busy weekend. Unfortunately, it was overly salty this time around and I did not use the ranch at all. I think sticking to their marinara sauce is the safest bet and just customize your toppings. The staff is always really friendly here and they're very helpful when asking for combo recommendations. They are a great addition to San Pedro Square and I will always come back for more. read more

I've always wanted to try this spot back in the day during my San Pedro Square nights out but there was always a super long long line every time. This time, we came around 2pm on Saturday and there was no line. I ordered the Joe's Pizza which came with sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. The pizza was out in minutes. It was good but nothing great. The slices could have been smaller (they cut the pie into 4 big slices). It was pricey and super cheesy which I am not a fan of. All in all, it did the job as we came to San Pedro Square to hang out with friends. In terms of rating the Neapolitan pizza? There is so much better elsewhere. read more

We had some of the best Napoli style pizza in Washington DC and were craving it, so decided to try this place out. We come to San Pedro Square at least once a month but hadn't tried Bocca Lupo. We arrived shortly after they opened so the pizza took longer than expected (about 17 minutes). I ordered the margherita and husband ordered the Joe's special. The margherita had more cheese than a traditional and the basil strips were small but it was still delicious. It is a 12 inch pizza and I got really full halfway through. The Joe's special had even more cheese and the toppings were not spread evenly but he enjoyed it nonetheless. We enjoyed it outside in the sun while the NFL games were going. read more

Pizza Bocca Lupo is without doubt about my favorite pizza places in the Bay Area. Great sauce and toppings on top of the most delicious dough crust you could find... Located at San Pedro Square Market, it is a great place to go with friends or family, so many options to choose from so everyone can get what they like best. I usually get my pizza here and pick up a drink from Urban Ritual to enjoy alongside it. This time I got their Joe's special pizza with sausage, mushroom and mozzarella. They are always very efficient and friendly with their service. There is plenty of seating, both inside and out, with music and a couple of great bars as well. On many days there will be live music outside on the stage, especially during the summer. During the winter musicians will play inside one of the bars. Sitting outside is really nice during the summer, it feels very communal, the tables are comfortable, and if you have kids they really enjoy running around and exploring the place while you might simply enjoy listening to the music when it's playing. There are great options for dessert as well around the plaza, such as Mochinuts. This pizza place as well as this whole plaza are highly recommended for a good afternoon or evening out. read more

This ain't your run of the mill pizza, no sireee...this baby has that wood fire taste to it with thin crust and it hits the spot. The pizzas can be on the oily side--but, hey, it is pizza...and if you don't like that, you can always daub the top with napkins to absorb some of the oil. One downside is that primarily their pizzas are tomato sauce-based, and I prefer more of a selection of sauces and toppings. read more

Our specialty is Neapolitan Thin Crust Pizza cooked in a wood fired pizza oven made in Italy. We follow the Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) tradition.

History

Established in 2011.

The owner of Pizza Bocca Lupo was born in Naples, Italy. He spent his early childhood in the city where the Pizza Margherita was invented as well. During his summer vacations he survived on the famous Neapolitan pizza Margherita. Prior to the opening of Pizza Bocca Lupo he became an apprentice at an Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana - Certified pizzeria in Naples. His friends in Naples congratulated him upon hearing of his plans to open up a restaurant with their favorite style pizza. They all said: "in bocca al lupo!" He signed the lease with nothing but a vision; both San Pedro Square Market buildings were bare structures with piles of rubble. Mid September 2011 San Pedro Square Market, San Jose's first urban market, opened. Pizza Bocca Lupo, Vino Vino and the Market Bar were the only tenants. The rest is history....

We ordered a pizza, and bought single slices, to try out while we waited for the larger pizza. They do not have fountain drinks, but they do sell indivual cans of soda. We ended up purchasing 3 slices of pizza, 1 whole pizza and 4 cans of soda. The pizza is not cheap, but they also don't use cheap ingredients either. It's very good pizza.

But this day the entire staff was off, and it was mainly due to the negative, micromanaging and rude manager/owner Partika. From the moment I walked in the establishment the vibe seemed completely off than what I was use to from past visits. It was scorching hot inside and the employees looked miserable. I quickly figured out why, as I placed my order with the gentleman upfront who was doing a great job, and here comes Partika hovering over him and reaching over him re-asking my order, although the employee had already entered it in and was simply trying to ask if I wanted to add anything else. Once done and paid, she then moves to the back counter and begins to holler over to the employees in the back about hurrying up with tickets, although they weren't very busy. I stood to the side as I had ordered a slice to grab now for my child, and then a full pizza and wings to go. Upon waiting, Partika approaches and tells me to sit down. I looked at her and told her it was not her discretion and I would await the slice to come right out as I already discussed with the employee. Once I obtain the slice i exit and wait in my vehicle in front of establishment. Out comes Partika harassing two men who had just finished up their pizza when I originally walked in and were still sitting at one of the table now having a refreshment from the adjoining establishment. She told them they could not sit at the tables they were reserved for her customers, and they told her they had just ate there and she begin to argue that now they had to move . Be advised there were many tables outside that any guest could choose from and her establishment was far from busy. Once my order was ready, I went back inside , and again she was arguing with another customer who stated the pizza she attempted to hand her was not hers if she could double check. Her rude comment was yes this is yours and the customer explained no her receipt clearly showed this was not her order. The gentleman apologized for the entire ordeal I had experienced and seen and gave me my order , in which I asked who she was and her name for reference. She then bolted towards me asking what the problem in which I told her the issue is she is very rude to very customer I had seen her interact with in the last 20 minutes. Fast forward to arriving home to now enjoy pizza and wings with my family. Open the box and the cheese is stuck to the top bc they failed to properly package it to avoid this mishap. Furthermore several of the winds were undercooked which could have created severe illness. I blame her presence, bad attitude and rushing her staff for these issues. I love the Tony Gemignani pizza brand but this Slice House in Mountain View has a terrible manager/ owner Partika who needs better customer service skills as well as management skills. I much rather have spent $100 with an establishment who had good customer interaction and treated their staff with respect.

This deep dish pizza is the best I have had in the Bay Area. I'm ordering again for the second time this month. Blue Line Pizza is my new default pizza for the LG area.

As a pizza lover, I can confidently say that Its one of the best pizza places in San Jose . From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm aroma of wood-fired pizza, and I knew I was in for a treat. I decided to go with my go-to pizza, the margarita. The pizza was cooked to perfection with a crispy crust and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The basil leaves on top added a refreshing touch to the overall flavor profile. Every bite was an explosion of flavor, and I couldn't get enough of it. I also tried their pesto pizza, which was equally impressive. The pesto sauce was made from fresh ingredients, and it was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The toppings on the pizza were generous and well-distributed, making sure that every bite had a bit of everything. We also ordered garlic bread which I dint like it. One thing that stood out to me about this pizza place was their small but excellent menu. They clearly focus on perfecting a few dishes rather than having a wide range of mediocre ones. This coffee shop is nice but the seating is extremely limited. I feel like they could utilize more of their space to accommodate to guests that want to enjoy their coffee instead of frantically having to get there early to lock down a spot. Their coffees are great and really a treat. I would say it's a bit overpriced but the experience is unique. The ambiance and decor of sightglass is very defined though I don't particularly get a friendly vibe. I absolutely love this place, leave aside the yummy pizza its the people that work there. I normally take out twice a week and the wait is about 10 minutes, but they are really friendly and keep me busy while I wait. I wish they would take phone orders, it would save me the 10 minutes wait. The price is very fair if you compare it to other places and the fact that one time they made a pizza that was a bit too thin, they immediately made another one and basically gave me one pizza trey for free. Super crowded spot, at least when we went for dinner in the evening. It took almost half an hour to get our pizza, which was decent enough. We ordered the pesto pizza this time around. While the toppings tasted very fresh actually, I found the pizza to be a bit on the boring side. Part of the problem in my opinion was the lack of toppings and maybe that's my fault for not trying one of the meat pizzas. All in all it's a decent place to grab a pizza and some drinks for the price, but I still prefer my usual pizza joint to this one. read more

The pizzas here are quite good, with tasty dough and flavorsome toppings. While the Margherita pizza is priced at $17 and the Joe's Special at $19, the pricing might seem a bit off compared to the portions and ingredients. It would be great if the Margherita was priced a bit lower, as a $12 price tag would make it a fantastic deal. Out of all the pizzerias I've been before, this is the best! Food-wise, the pizza they serve is always freshly baked and they do not compromise the ingredients they are using. They observe cleanliness in the whole premise, cleaning the tables right away after the customers have left. With regards to the staff and crew, they are well-trained and cordial. Cristinos Coal Fired pizza in Clearwater, FL, was my all time favorite that all pizza was compared to, either "as good as", or "not even close". Well, now I have a new standard to judge all other pizzas by: Pizza Bocca Lupo in downtown San Jose! Truly the best pizza I've had outside of Europe :) Try it - you'll totally love it! read more

The Diavola pizza is the one to get! It has an amazing thin and crisp crust. No soggy bottom here that's for sure! And such a nice chew. Mouthwatering spicy salami coupled with the freshest mozzarella and spot on sauce makes this pizza my favorite of all time. And they make this masterpiece in like 90 seconds so it's easy to keep ordering until the food coma knocks you out. read more

My sons turned us on to San Pedro Square Market a couple of months ago. We have been back multiple times since. Bocca Lupo pizza is Great wood fired pizza with some unusual topping choices! It's nearly impossible to find a table on a Friday night - you have to stalk a table which is awkward and once you sit down to eat, someone else is stalking your table!! It's a war zone! 1st off just look at the pictures of this pizza . Probably the best looking pizza you will ever see. Bubbly slightly charred crust tastes as good as it looks. The Queens slice was loaded with toppings, the garlic bread disappeared way too fast, and the Cajun fries had just the right kick. The mozzarella sticks were cheesy, crispy, and exactly what I was craving. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the food hit the spot. Although I would say the pizza is slightly softer on the bottom than what one may expect from a NY pizza, the ingredients were FRESH, the pizza was NOT full of grease, and priced reasonably for the size. I'm sure they would be happy to cook the pizza longer if I had requested a crispier pizza. I didn't include a tip when I paid because I thought it was gonna be a quick meal, but because of the service and fresh quality of the pizza, I decided to write this review to make up for the lack of tip!

The bread took a while, but the cashier was very apologetic about the situation and the bread was given to me warm so I won't complain. When I got home to eat the cheesy garlic bread, I was caught off guard by how good it was. Maybe it's just been a while since I've had garlic bread as a whole, but it was just as amazing and fulfilling as I imagined it to be.
