I have a few favorites, but at the top of that list is Cera. Cera is NOT your average sandwich and salad shop. Their food is inspired, fresh, and will absolutely get you through the day. My favorite item on the menu is the Indonesian Seoul Food wrap - Korean steak, veggies, and peanut sauce all wrapped in grilled naan. I love their meat options, prepared by people who understand how to cook meat properly. The Great Cow Caper salad fed me for two lunches, and the tender, well-seasoned grilled steak was the highlight of the dish. Cera embraces its meat offerings, and also has some outstanding vegan options. The restaurant is super clean and the staff working the kitchen are usually hopping. Cera delivers, but they don't list their specials online. If I hadn't stopped in to get a seasonal lemonade (blood orange) I would not have seen the Tuna Poke special, and that would have been a shame. Cera also has a rewards program!

We make a lot of fresh pasta at home, and they always have the freshest ingredients to take our recipe to the next level. For example, many Italian recipes call for guanciale (Italian cured pork), and we could never find it locally until we visited The Cheese Iron. We had to settle for pancetta until we found this gem of a spot. Their focaccia and baguettes are delicious, and their cheeses are always fresh. They also are the only place we've seen locally that carries Lioni Latticini burrata, which is, without a doubt, the best burrata we've ever tried. We stopped buying commercial burrata altogether after trying that brand. Plus, their customer service is unmatched -- everyone is always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Those little (and big!) elements continue to bring us back to The Cheese Iron. I'm so, so happy The Cheese Iron exists in Scarborough.

Outside there was a selection of pots, but like most places they were out of terra cotta pots. Lots of mums and fall arrangements, and their farm market had a really nice selection of wine, produce, and dairy products. Parking was painless and checking out was easy enough. I'd love to come back here in the spring when things are ramping up.

The employee at the counter was very friendly and was happy to give me free iced water despite the to go order. She mentioned that it was smart to order the barbecue sauce on the side because it sometimes makes the to go sandwiches, especially, soggy. Maybe in the future they could do this for all sandwiches that are prone to sogginess. Delicious late afternoon snack for me!

I love the interior and how spacious it feels. There are lots of different sitting options, ones in low chairs, circle table and hightops. My only complaint is how busy it is sometimes, it can be a little overwhelming. But besides that it's always worth the drive to scarborough for me.
