4.0 stars. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The food comes out quickly and is piping hot. The portions are plentiful. The staff was attentive enough. My rice soup was good but needed a pinch of salt or msg. The chicken wings were good with their sweet and savory sticky sauce. The wing size was big too. My drunken noodles looked great but it was lacking in the seasoning area. I had to add both fish sauce and soy sauce to flavor it up. I have been eating Thai food for many years so I am not new to the flavors. Other reviews I have come across have stated the same thing. Some of the food is missing that pop or brightness in the finished dish. The vegetables were crisp and firm so its not that. I was just passing through this town on my way to Boston so I decided to try this place because I was lobstered out. Overall it was not bad but my main entree lacked pizzazz. read more

We decided to dine at Chaba Thai today 8/29/2025 and wow glad we did. We were greeted and seated quickly as we walked in. Chaba was a small but clean, cozy space. We ordered cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Wow !!! Food was absolutely amazingly delicious; cocktails were excellent. Customer service was spot on and prices were reasonable. Quick, attentive and friendly. Clean bathroom. We definitely recommend and if we return to Maine, we'll come back for more. read more

An unexpected spot with good Thai fare. Excellent, freshly grilled shrimp in red curry paste was my favorite. We went on a weekend and there was no one else eating in, -- we got the feeling the place depends on takeout. The tom kha needed a bit of lime juice, lemongrass/ galangal and /or sambal, but our meal was otherwise very flavorful. Feeling like Thai food, we decided to try Chana, as it was near where we were staying. The service was amazing, as was the food presentation. The restaurant was very nice inside, and very clean. I ordered a Thai iced tea, crab Rangoons, and drunken noodles. Nothing was bad, but the unique Thai flavors that I love seemed to be lacking. It certainly wasn't bad, but there are other options that I would likely choose for the next trip. read more

Tried this for the first time and was super impressed. We ate there and the service was quick and friendly. You could tell they do a lot of take out but they have lots of tables and drinks if you do want to sit in. I got a noddle dish and it was great and came out fast. Stopped in for dinner and had a great meal. The crab Rangoons were delicious, loved the summer roll and the Shrimp Pad Thai was great too! Service was wonderful as well! Love knowing they are located just a hop, skip and a jump from the campground we frequent while here in Maine! read more

I love Thai Food. We don't know what this was. IT was anything but Thai. The entrees sloppy, dry, poorly prepared & cooked:( $ if a patron requests extra sauce,which (mini-me 1 oz. Covered cupps!) The peanut sauce which was undelish, After 1 bite I couldn't go any further I couldn't choke it down!! The noodles were ultra thin. & resembled Ramen! Yuk, double yuk! It was gross & a waste of $70.00. If we had been in close proximity to this Anything-butt-Thai food facility it would have gone back. All was thrown in the dumpster! Idk why it has 5 . The noodle dish, the noodles were mush. The flavor of the dish was good but offset by the way overdone noodles The Thai chicken wings were again way overcooked and dry. Visited Chaba Thai twice when we were in Maine this summer. I am a big fan of Thai food, and have tried it all around the country (travel a lot for work). This place blew us away (thus the repeat visit!). I had the panang curry with chicken one visit, and the pad thai the second visit (on the recommendation of one of my guys). They tried two different dishes as well. Panang curry and pad thai are my go to's, and as such, I've tried a lot of them! These were truly excellent. One heads up I will give -- if you order it spicy, you better truly like spicy -- they don't play! I think I did one star on the spicy scale for my panang curry and it kept my attention; one of my guys had their pad thai with four stars (and there's still one more star above that!) and I tasted it and it was "Oh my god, why do you hate me???" spicy. He loved it and ate every morsel. We ate in both times, so can't speak to delivery. But if you like Thai food, we'd definitely recommend Chaba to anyone in the area. read more

This has to be one of my favorite restaurants I've been too. The staff are so friendly, the food and drinks are great, and the prices are cheap. The pork dumplings were hot and juicy. The drinks we both had were delicious. The pumpkin curry with beef is a special curry they have at the moment and it was so flavorful. The crispy pad Thai is my absolute favorite dish here. Lastly we had the mango sticky rice for dessert which never misses the mark! All of that and the restaurants ambiance was calm and pleasant with light music in the background. read more

We enjoyed a delicious meal tonight at Chaba Thai. I loved the ratio of meat and veggies to noodles in my duck pad see ew, all perfectly cooked with just the right amount of sauce. My husband's bacon pad thai was also tasty. This restaurant is a good option and reasonably priced. The server was slammed - just him covering the whole dining room, the bar, and handing out the takeout orders for most of our time there - but he did excellent work. read more

Discovered this spot while visiting Old Orchard Beach and it was some of the best Thai I've had in New England. Ordered Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, and they give us humongous pieces of chicken satay for our appetizer. Highly recommend. read more

Delicious Southern Thai food in Scarborough! The flavors at Chaba are nuanced and delicious. Some of the items have almost a Malaysian profile such as the Pineapple fried rice. The Tom Kha soup is a sweet variety which some might find odd. It's just a different style. We tried three appetizers: Tom Kha soup, fried spring rolls and the pork dumplings. All were delicious starters. The spring rolls were my favorite and they came out piping hot! (Thank you.) For entrees we sampled the Pad Thai with duck, Massaman Curry with beef and Pineapple fried rice with Shrimp. All three were delicious. I would recommend the crispy duck over the roast duck but all in all, I would eat this exact meal again. I wish they had roasted chilis but that might be a more northern thing. Try an old favorite or something you haven't had before; you may be surprised! read more

Well, another restaurant that had good reviews, but was very disappointing. We ordered takeout: Pad Thai with tofu for my husband, and Panang Curry with chicken for me. Plus a couple of egg rolls, as well. My husband's dish was bland (he had to doctor it a bit at home to make it somewhat enjoyable), and about 4 pieces of tofu. Four. I don't know when you last bought tofu, but it's cheap. Four pieces of tofu costs less than a quarter, and it would've been nice to see some more in there. My curry had good flavor--and good heat (I ordered a 5)--but the curry itself was a bit thin, and the chicken was dry as a bone. Forget the egg rolls. We couldn't detect a single ingredient that was supposed to be in there. I'd like to think it was an off-night, but unfortunately we won't venture another go. All of this for $41.00. Chaba Thai has been my go to Thai Spot for years now. I found it when I moved in the adjacent apartment complex and ordered it weekly for 2 years. They always get your order right and it's always hot and fresh. Until recently, the past three times I've been to Chaba I have noticed a difference in the quality and flavor of their food. For example, the spring rolls are no longer wrapped tight and filled with fresh vegetables. They now are loose, greasy and filled with what seems like old rice or something mushy. Other dishes are not mixed well, spices are only on parts of the dish and missing bean sprout toppings. I also noticed a bad odor the last time I was in the restaurant. This was a last-minute decision to try this restaurant for dinner. It was recommended to us by a co-worker who attended culinary school and we thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed. We were seated right away, service was fast and friendly, and the prices were not outrageous for being located in a touristy area. I had the eggplant , onions , peppers, pea pods, and other vegetables in brown sauce with white rice. Also had the hot and sour soup. All were delicious. Try the Thai tea. Amazing. The decor is tiki-hut kitschy, I'm goofy that way, I liked it. We will be back. read more

I've driven past Chaba Thai more times than I can imagine - why we had never stopped in, I'm truly not sure...but now it will ALWAYS be on my cravings-list! We've grabbed takeout twice, both times made my tastebuds VERY happy. The most recent visit was a desperate need for sushi. We tried the Ebi Tempura Maki, California Roll, Tokyo and Las Vegas. The rolls were so fresh, clean on the palate and precisely what we were looking for. We also ordered a Pad See Eaw which was phenomenal. The portion was much smaller than we expected for the price - but after eating it we would happily indulge again! Huge pieces of veggies, incredible flat noodles, and the pork was an absolute delight! The first takeout was a California roll and the Ebi Tempura Maki - but we also ordered the roast duck fried rice and the Massaman Curry. The roast duck fried rice was a dream. I can't think of a time I didn't enjoy duck - but this was a step-above, even the husband liked it! So tender, and wonderfully flavored - fantastic job! The massaman curry made me very sad, and ended up immediately in the garbage. This was nothing like I had ever experienced with a massaman - it was thin like water, the flavor was barely noticeable and the tofu was the strangest tofu I've ever encountered - the cubes were empty? So bizarre. We won't be trying the curry here again. All in all, Chaba is now on our list of go-to spots in the area and I'm so excited as they are right down the street from us! I honestly don't know how we didn't take a single photo - apparently we were too excited to devour! read more

This hidden Thai gem is a perfect surprise when you have nothing but lobster around you. If you know anything about Southeastern countries, the restaurant interior is never anything extravagant. This place feels homey. I had good vibes the minute I sat down. I came in and had one of the lunch specials. I ordered the Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles), this is just the Pad See Eaw, but spicy. The lunch special also comes with a side, I ordered the Chicken Wings and for an additional $2, got the Tom Yum Soup. Everything was AMAZING together!
