We happened to be there during the Arctic freeze that came through the area and they were nice enough to call a few days in advance to make sure we were prepared for a power outage, which was nice. We arrived on Thursday, and the cabin wasn't very clean. Nothing major but crumbs on the counter tops and chips under the couch. My kids were most excited about the pool and were in it most of the evening Thursday. Friday, the entire county started experiencing rolling black outs. No big deal. We were prepared and they didn't last long. Unfortunately the heat couldn't seem to get the cabin warmed back up. The entire place was so drafty and there are a lot of windows. The main floor heating unit also works to heat the basement. The issue was the basement never got back up over 56 degrees. We called and left a message but didn't get a call back so our kids ended up sleeping upstairs on the couches. The theater would have been nice but the projector kept tripping the breaker and the blu ray player wouldn't come on. After the power went out Friday, the pool never heated back up making it unusable. We loaded the dishwasher Sunday night for the first time since being there only to wake up Monday morning and the dishes looked like it never ran. Not sure if there was an issue with it or what. All of things were minor inconveniences and annoyances especially given we paid almost $8000 for 4 nights. I reached out to customer service just to let them know there was some issues with the cabin. Not to get a refund but I did expect at least an apology. What I received back was "thank you for letting us know"....that was it and even that took them over 24 hours to send. Seemed like they were much faster to respond before they get your money. We did have a great Christmas with our family and I would have given a higher rating if it wasn't for the email response I got.

There were several issues we had. One being the cleanliness of the place. Trash from April from other guests lying around. Dirty hair ties in the corner of one of the showers. Even one in the corner of the room. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. Rundown furniture. Grease on kitchen cabinets above stove. Furniture was worn down and very uncomfortable. And the Tv remotes didn't want to work. The one in the bedroom didn't work at all. And both the bedroom and living room remotes had batteries taped in them. The backs were gone. Bad customer service. We were so busy while we were there that we waited til the evening we checked out to email them. But because we had already checked out that day they refused to make the situation right. All they offered was to send the complaint to the housekeeping manager. Apparently this is a common problem with this company. Had I known this beforehand we would have NEVER booked through them. Please give another company your business.

This was…read morewhere we spent our honeymoon (well Gburg actually - in an old run down cabin that wasn't theirs). I don't even know if this place was around then. That was 41 years ago but we spent time up here for our 40th anniversary this year - using them exclusively since we found them about 20 years ago. I think the ownership went thru change since we've been coming here but we exclusively and use them at least 3-4 times a year. Their special for last minute trips is incredible. After 20 years, 3-4 times a year (so we've stayed in most of them), each one has always been clean as a whistle. We have figured that we have stayed with them over 60 trips. At least. We've never stayed with anyone else the past 20 years! Our favorite place is at the top of the mountain at the water tower. However three of the four we always stayed at and liked the best, all but one was burned down in the Gatlinburg Fire of 2016. It burned down to their concrete footprint. They finally got one of them rebuilt and just opened back up so we are leaving Friday to go there. It's at the very top of the mountain and you can see for miles and miles. Yet it is only 5 min from the Parkway, behind Dollywood. You would think a cabin on the to of the mountain with its incredible view would be miles from the Parkway but it's only a short 5-8 minutes. I can never praise their staff enough. They are awesome people to work with. Some of our favorite restaurants we never miss are the Applewood for bfast, Guy Fieri's restaurant and arcade ( this is awesome and relatively new and great to go because there is a Crumbl and Ice Cream shop next door that are for that sweet tooth we always seem to get worse up there), Chop House, Cherokee Grill (Gburg), Ogles Farmers Kitchen ( I think this is the name. It right close to going in for Applewood. We've just recently found this and have been multiple times), The Pottery Barn Cafe is usually our first place we hit coming into town. There is also Paula Deens, Chop House, and Johnny Carino's. This is just for starters. Stay here and you won't regret it!!!

The cabin…read moreis at the top of Timber Ridge Road (which is terrifying to drive and I was thankful we had an AWD vehicle in the summer) and was incredibly quiet and peaceful. But. Before we ever left there were tons of miscommunications with forms being sent, the people in the office saying they received them but then not sending me the information I needed. When I would call and say I hadn't received the information, the office person said they never got what I had sent! But once we got there, they were very responsive to issues we had. And boy did we have issues. First off, I don't know if it's an owner problem or a management company problem but the cabin needs maintenance. A lot of maintenance. At first glance the place looked clean but when you looked closer you could see dust everywhere. Torn screens. Ripped porch furniture. Light fixtures hanging by their wires from the ceiling. Burnt out lightbulbs. The Grill wouldn't light. Nails sticking out of the deck railings and broken latticework on the crawlspace. I contacted the office first thing the morning after we checked in and they got the maintenance guy out there quickly. Some things he could fix, others were outside of his bailiwick. He changed out the propane tank on the grill and gave us a long lighter to light the grill instead of repairing the igniter button. Well, either the hoses were bad or the interior workings of the grill were bad because the entire thing caught fire! Luckily, my husband knew how to use a fire extinguisher and we put the fire out and to their credit they brought us a brand new grill the next day. We had a lovely vacation and with some normal maintenance and repair I would recommend this cabin. But not yet.

And lastly, when arriving at the cabin I was simply awestruck! Gold hues of the inside of the cabin were warm and welcoming. Clean and cool on a hot late summer day. There was enough supplies for my daughter's and my entire stay, not to mention the laundry soap did come in handy for The end of our trip to take back clean things for our next trip. The morning view off the back porch was stunning. I loved having my morning coffee while listening to whippoorwills calling and see hummingbirds whiz by. We had multiple levels of hot tubs and games available such as a pool table, foosball and pacman. We stayed in "Its got it all" cabin and it had an amazing view of the mountain. The dishes were dirty/dusty that we washed things before we even used them. Even though there are signs saying to keep the place nice, respect the visitors after you. What about us? I guess we did not matter. The hot tub was cold, the sauna had dead bugs, mold was on the wall in the indoor pool area. The privacy wall was broken by the hot tub, the railing on the deck on both levels is separating as well as a very loose railing going down the steps to the lower level. Safety issues you would think. On the first night we called and mentioned all these things and they came the next day and fixed the hot tub and dusted a picture that hung over the bed. (Eyeroll). We were gone for the day but when we returned it was 85 degrees in our cabin and the air stopped working and you cannot open the windows. So, I guess if we wanted a heated hot tub, we were not allowed to have air. We followed the directions to lower the temp only three degrees at a time, but nothing ever happened, so we called. She said that someone would call us and come fix the AC. We waited till about 1:00am. It was so hot it was worth staying up so we could sleep comfortably. No call no show. For the amount of money we paid for 2 nights with the $150 cleaning fee! What a Joke! I was never so glad to leave the next day. DO NOT RENT A CABIN HERE!

Once we entered the cabin we were presently surprised how clean the entire cabin was and impressed with how clean the bathrooms and kitchen were. Cabin was well equipped and we brought extra towels and cleaning supplies just in case but didn't need them. After being there for a day we got a follow up call from the rental agency checking to make sure all was good which was a nice touch. We very much enjoyed our stay and went in knowing this was a cabin in the woods and not our house which helped with our expectations. We would definitely stay here again.
