We called on Amazing from Yelp reviews and their location, closest to our house. The emergency was that the latch on the fire door between our kitchen and garage was immoble. JD at Amazing Locksmith Service understood immediatly what we needed to get fixed, gave me accurate instructions to get the replacement part [Kudos to John Y at the N. Lamar Lowes], and gave me estimates for the repairs. It took a few hours but Jake came to our house, got the door open, replaced the faulty latch, and reset the key so that my house keys work. 2 slight suggestions - Jake was unable to get his phone to accept credit cards - functional credit/debit card acceptance is essential these days. I actually found an old check book so I could pay. Also, the charges for the service call and the lock re-set were not as originally quoted. It was close enough not to make a fuss, plus we were so grateful for the excellent service, but financial matters need to be clear and coordinated. I wanted to update a previous review. I drove there for the $90 programming. I decided to learn to do this on my own. I did end up buying a $600 programmer device. It only took me 10 mins to program the key. Not sure why they are so greedy and charge so much for programming. They knew I was going to provide the hardware bought on Amazon. read more

Had a great experience here replacing a flip key for our Buick. Called around for several quotes and all were within the $135-150 range. Here it was $139 before taxes. I was in and out within 15 minutes with a perfectly functional, mirror image of the old key. They cut and programmed it lickety-split with banger customer service. JD is about as knowledgeable in car key programming as anyone can be. I've made the mistake of getting duplicate keys from Home Depot, Walmart, or those silly machines. Every time, I always wind up back at Amazing Locksmiths to have duplicates made because his keys always WORK EVERY TIME! The others are crappy, don't work right, or simply will not open the lock. Worst Ever. Stay away from this place! Wanted a 2012 Nissan key programmed to open the doors and trunk. He said it would be 10 minutes and $60. Couldn't do it after about an hour. Blamed me and Nissan and everyone else but his lousy skills. After he said he couldn't make it work, he tried to charge me $55 FOR NOTHING! They truly are amazing! I lost the one and only key to my Volvo so I thought about calling a mobile locksmith to make a key from the lock. Turns out I could get the key code from the Volvo dealership for free and get a key made at any key shop. So I called around to find a place that would cut a key from the code. The first place didn't cut car keys so they recommend a couple other places (these places were either too far away or too expensive). Then I came across Amazing Locksmith Service on Yelp and gave them a call. Sure enough, they could cut the key from the code. So I head on over there and I'm blown away by all the keys they have lined up on the walls of the shop! I was greeted by the woman I spoke to on the phone and the guy making the keys. Everyone was real friendly and knowledgeable about keys and locks. I got a pair of keys for a reasonable price and went on my way. My dealership wanted to charge me $300 to replace a broken car key ("There's a COMPUTER CHIP inside that key, and we have to PROGRAM it!") and wanted me to leave my truck at the dealership for the day. This is only the second review I have posted since the www's debut, but I had to make the effort for the guys at Amazing Locksmith, for they truly live up to their name! I recently purchased a low mileage used Miata that has quickly become the car of my dreams, save for one problem... the previous owner damaged his only backup key fob by trying to replace the battery in it without reading the instructions on how to do so, leaving me with only one operable key for the vehicle. I called a local Mazda dealership to inquire about the price of a replacement, and was told that it would run me just North of $300 after taxes! For one!! The previous owner had placed the remains of his "repair" job in a ziploc bag, so I took the crumbled bits of plastic and assorted bits of metal in to Amazing Locksmith Service to see if they could be re-assembled within a new plastic shell. I was introduced to J.D., who listened patiently to my tale of woe, and then sadly informed me that they were unable to obtain plastic shells for that particular key fob, and I was out of luck. I had also wanted to get a spare key cut for my motorcycle, and since I was already there, he was happy to oblige. As he cut the new key for me, I could tell that he was ruminating about being unable to satisfy my original request. When he finished and brought me the new motorcycle key he said " I think I have an idea... let me see that bag of parts again". I handed him the bag, and he muttered something like "It looks like everything is there..." and walked over to a wall lined with what appeared to be thousands of automotive key blanks, and after some scrutiny, selected one and walked back over to the counter. "What I could do is try to cut the chip out of your old fob, and and then try to implant it in the head of this key. It won't have the remote options of the old fob, but at least it would unlock and start your car for you". "That's all I need it for" I said, "How much will that cost?" I asked. "Forty bucks", he replied. "SOLD!" I responded, and he grinned and walked over to his workbench and began what I can only describe as a delicate and detailed surgical operation. Over the next half hour I watched him toil away with his Dremel and dental tools, with the passion of an artist, and the drive of someone hellbent on getting something fixed. The depth and breadth of the love for his job was revealed in the ensuing conversation, and I would have to tell his employers that they have a true Austin customer service treasure in the person of this man. There were several points where success hung in the balance, but as his face began to glisten with sweat, I just knew that this guy was going to win out and accomplish the near impossible. In a nutshell, truly amazing. I went to them with some work involving a rare circular type key I lost to a lock. They produced a master for that lock maker's series to open it. Next they had to manually override a lost combination for me, safe-cracking a heavy business safe of mine from my old office. Owner Gary made me an appointment so I could drop off the work, assistant J.D. did the first job and worked on the second then Gary finished the job. The shop also sells quality used safes, security drawers, money boxes, firesafes, locking boxes, etc. and has a great low price listed on every item. All in all, I was extremely satisfied as Owner Gary was expert and fair. His store offers a great honest value on every product and service the business offers. I watched his happy customers come in and out in a steady stream, each very promptly assisted, as I waited on my job to be completed. I highly recommend this honest business. Amazing Locksmith store and workshop is an example of the type of honest independent locally-owned type of small business that I like to support in the community. Beware frauds. One place told me the job would be $200 and another said $175. Even the key I lost and safe combo of my serial number from the maker if I bought it would've cost $35 to show up in 7-10 days or $75 overnight. Update 5/30/11 The owner took some offense to this review and contacted me personally to offer criticism and to request that I remove it. Let me be clear about our situation. -We were stuck without a phone in a parking lot -We went to Taco Bell to find a phone book -We looked up Locksmiths in the yellow pages and found Amazing Locksmith listed on Pecan Street -We called their number in the yellow pages and were (unknowingly and according to the owner) "routed to a national company" -Our experience unfolds as listed below The owner claims that the national company is responsible for our experience and insinuates that we are at fault for posting this review and 'blasting their business' when we were unknowingly routed to a 'scamming' national company. This sounds like Amazing Locksmith Service needs to investigate their yellow pages listing instead of blaming the customer for calling their number in the phone book. I changed my review to 3 stars instead of 1 star because I do want to support local businesses. Although I took offense to the owner's poor interpersonal skills, if his company is not responsible for our experience then I don't think they should be held accountable for this 'national scamming company'. I guess if you call these guys, be careful that you are actually getting their company and not being rerouted. ------------------------------------- This place left us stranded. Thank god we called the cops who rescued us (FOR FREE) more quickly. Here's the scoop, our keys and cell phones were locked in our car. We trotted over to the closest restaurant (taco bell) and begged for a phone and phone book. We called these guys because the address lists them as down the road on Pecan St. We called them because theoretically they would be closest, and quickest. Lo and behold, they have a phone service that you have to call. We told the operator our situation, she asked for a phone number. We told her that we did not have a cell number, and that we were at a local restaurant and did not have a number where she could reach us. Furthermore, we told her that the restaurant was a hike from our car and that we'd have to leave the restaurant to be there for the technician. She told us it wasn't a problem, and that she'd send someone to the Pflugerville High School where our car was. She estimated approximately 15 minutes. We agreed and thanked her. After we hung up, the very nice taco bell employee told us that we could call the sherrifs department and they'd come out for free. We opted to go ahead and do that and see which one came first. There were issues on the phone call with the locksmith lady, so we felt uncertain because she demanded an address and we couldn't give her one. We told her it was just down the road from their office, but she informed us that the service we called was national and not local. We pleaded with her that we did not know an address but that it was a common landmark in Pflugerville. About 30 minutes later, there is no sign of the locksmith. Finally the cops show up, break into our car (yes for free), and we are on our way. I call back the locksmith agency as a courtesy to tell them that we had the sheriff's department help us. She tells me that they did not actually send anyone. Frustrated, and appalled, I questioned her. She said that the agents were contractors, and that the office was not in fact down the street, and that they had trouble finding a technician on a Sunday afternoon. I was furious!!! Can you imagine what would have happened if we had not called the sherrifs department? We would have been stuck out there indefinitely until we called them back. So, word to the wise, the mysterious location on Pecan Street is apparently just a farce, and they apparently can't offer help on weekends, or off hours. read more

I called amazing locksmith service about a key but I had locked inside the cab of a Freightliner truck, locksmith Sam H arrived in under 20 minutes and he was able to pick the lock and open the cab of the truck in about 10 minutes or less.
